Title: New to Bitcoin and want to play with some...
Post by: BurnTurnPoker on April 13, 2015, 10:37:54 PM
I see a lot of people looking for faucets and other ad-click schemes for earning tiny amounts of BTC. I know there are a lot of gaming sites out there with free-rolls and such. What are the reasons that people prefer faucets and surveys over playing games? Seems like a more fun way to get one's first bitcoins. BTC

It is because most games that pay a little for free are casino's.   You will not make decent money playing games.  Or doing faucets for that matter.

I suggest buying some or mining some.  Only other way is a signature campaign can be fun as you can make money doing what you would do anyways.  Faucets/Casinos you will make cents per hour.

Faucet is fastest to get some bitcoin if you have none.
Casino is risky when you have some already.
Thats why.

People likes easy jobs, who doesn't?, only have to fill out a captcha to get cents, people think that will make a lot of money fast, many people make money with rotators, some people just do not like gambling, and the free-rolls i think you will make less money than with a rotator

Faucets can be good if your only after a few satoshis to play around with and testing but not good to use all the time, once all those small amounts build up in your wallet spending all those can cost more than it's worth and result in larger than normal transactions.

Best option is to just buy a small amount of BTC.

most of those who prefer faucets don't like to risk their money, plain and simple..

Most of those who use faucets are either newbies or they are bored and are out of funds(and are experienced). People who don't wish to risk their money should stay away from gambling because faucet gambling is a waste of time.

faucets are a way to earn btc for solving captcha images. the problem with faucets is the payouts are extremely small and a waste of time. gambling is better way to make btc but very risky

Gambling is never a good way to gain BTC long run.  There is no possible way it makes sense.  It's not a risky investment as gambling is not a investment.

in fact game and bitcoin can be seen as a good combination, but we know that everyone want always the easy route, that's why they prefer the worthless faucets

until now game(talking about skill game not dice gambling game) are equally worthless for gaining bitcoin

but for now aside of the bird game and those "hyper game"(game that pay you with hypercoin, an altcoin, it can be converted in btc) i don't know any others

we can play at counterstrike go if you want, you can earn 11k satoshi every 20 kills

I think buying a little bit is probably the best way to go too. Especially with so many easy ways to do so these days. I remember when the best way to get Bitcoin involved a red phone and/or international wire transfers.

The point is when using faucets you earn Bitcoins. When using game sites you lose Bitcoins highly likely. That's the secret  ;)

Faucets and Gambling is not an investment.

You are not gonna get rich either way. Both are helping you to just lose money (faucets = waste of time, time = money) and gambling is the best investment for the owner of the site only.

Because faucet and bitcoin game is free, although just earn tiny bitcoin. For me playing games(except gambling) is just for fun(the point plus is i can earn dust of btc).
If you want to get more profit, start to build them(faucet and bitcoin game).

Faucets take less energy, since its just a click every X time. Games requires focus.
Unless you enjoy the game tho, then its good.

Not really. There are some games which can make you a millionaire if you're skilled at it, like poker and different card games.

Faucets and Gambling is not an investment.

You are not gonna get rich either way. Both are helping you to just lose money (faucets = waste of time, time = money) and gambling is the best investment for the owner of the site only.

Faucets and Gambling can be considered as an investment. It's just that their returns aren't that guaranteed that's why many people think that they aren't considered as an investment.

In faucets, you invest your time clicking those captchas and trying to earn a solid referral under you. Actually, you can earn a pretty decent money if you gain a lot of active referrals on faucets. In that way, you don't have to do difficult things: just visit the site whenever you want to and collect your money that you earned through your referrals.

In gambling, you invest your money and time competing against the odds, hoping to make it big and win big. There are different gambling games that you'll surely lose your money, like dice and slots. There are also games that you can at least compete with your skill, like card games, poker and the likes. It can give you loads of profit, but it can also burn you in the end.

Entertain me and I will send you some millibits.

What kind of entertainment is this? I'm just curious. hahahaha.

It might be fun to play with faucets, but make no mistake. You are going to spend hours to make a single penny. If you actually want to try them out then set up an account at an exchange in your country. Fund it, buy some, then move them to private keys under your exclusive control.
For an amount of say $100 you could also try a phone based wallet like "bitcoin wallet". It has a bit more risk but the convenience makes it worth it for me.
It was not until I spent some online that I could really see the utility of BTC. Now it is my only money online.

Well, a lot of these gaming sites have free games and free roll tournaments in poker. So, if you like to play the games, and are decent at them or improving you can earn a few satoshis this way. Also, games like poker and stuff are social, so there's that element. Seems way more fun to me than a faucet :)

Sure, but it is not likely to win many mBTCs there because there are too many players which competing for releatively low free roll prices. And you need to be a good player or much luck  :)

Well, that's why people play! Because it's fun, win or lose. Of course, winning is better than losing, the best players in any game or sport or contest always talk about how important losses were to their ultimate successes. Anyway, I agree about the potential of losing being a detractor. I just think playing a game is a better way to get your hands on some mBTCs and experience using it. I think if I were just getting started with Bitcoin, I would rather play a fun game with peers where I have a chance to earn a few dollars worth of BTC, rather than grind hours away clicking on ugly websites for some measly dust that never amount to more than a fraction of a penny.

Just my two sats :P

Gambling is too risky, so ppl choose faucet, but for me the both is not worth, i prefer too web which offer to doing small job or task, and sig campaign is better than all of them

Because faucet always give you few bitcoin, unlike gambling site with free-rolls where you can lose your bitcoin (from free rolls)
But, i still prefer gambling sites with free-rolls / faucet, since you could earn much more bitcoin than faucet

In fact, faucet is waste your time
Faucets can give you some satoshis at first, which can be handy to use the wallets and send transactions. My first use of a wallet was thanks to a faucet that gave me some satoshis to experiment with.

I don't think faucets are favored by by the majority.  This beginner thread has become a race to throw faucets and rotators trying to get referrals from new people.

But as far as overall most people I think do not use faucets.  It just get's you pennies a day in most cases.  You could do so much better things with your time compared to faucet use.

it is because the faucets and all those ad-cliks are a sure thing.
i mean when you claim 500 satoshi from a faucet you have it in your hands , but when you claim one of those free-rolls on a gambling site, you have to jump through hoops to be able to cash it out.
it can be way less than the minimum withdrawal, you have to make a lot of rolls before being able to cash out.
and also most importantly you have to win first before being able to cash out your "winnings" and not lose that initial amount too.

It is easy to answer this. With faucet the earnings are sure. With the games not. If are sure then people don't think like you and find playing games boring.

You could always mix it up. Most poker sites have freerolls (some go up to 500 mBTC and up), and you can do faucets while playing so you earn twice.

Surveys pay better than either of the other two (faucets/casinos), but also require a bit more brain power.
