Would love to help with Hebrew. Does it support RTL languages?

You can make a request on the website

I have added in Hebrew into the list of target languages on http://translate.multibit.org (http://translate.multibit.org).
It will appear as an option in the list of languages in the next release.

MultiBit does do RTL, though the layout needs a bit of tidying up.
Here is "Hebrew in English" i.e. the GUI is set to Hebrew but all the text is still in English:

(You can see the list of wallets should be on the right and some of the spacing is wrong. Also I am not sure about things like whether BTC should prefix the amount or be postfix. Any "RTLisms" like that you spot just let me know and I will work my way through them).

p.s. that's the test version (with encrypted wallets) not the live version that is on the website.

Great work!

It melts your brain translation work after a while so it is definitely better to do it in chunks.

:-)

Punctuation doesn't seem to be handled right.
Synchronized with network.
should be:
Synchronized with network.

This should be fixed, or translators will encounter nasty surprises.

The period there is part of the source text ie 'Synchronised with network.' so I think when translated into an RTL it will render as '.xxxxxx'

Not 100% sure though.

I am sure there will quite a number of things like that to work through, including things like mirror image icons etc. I will obviously need input from native speakers on this.

There is Arabic, Farsi and now Hebrew as RTLs in MultiBit so I will spend some background time on improving the layout. I think that is all the major RTLs now - I believe historically Chinese and Japanese could be written RTL but conventionally are LTR now.

Hey jim, how do you validate translations?

Please note that RTL languages are encoded from beginning to end. The Arabic period is identical to the English one. If I'm not mistaken, if a period is at the end of the text, it should be moved to the left so as to stay at the end of the text.

Hey jim, how do you validate translations?

Hi knight22,

The crowdin.net validation step I think is mainly for companies where they might have a 'language manager' that is proofreading outsourced translation work. There is a proofreader right that gets given to translators and then they get a 'Validate' button. You can bulk validate.

I will give you the proofreader rights for French if you like. Will do it when I get to my main computer.
You now have proofreader rights.
