So there's app for dealing with such problems ;) Leave page open to use "play sound" alert. I started 20 min ago developing my own app with google app engine ! Then I googled it ... and I've found this! Yes, it will send when page is closed. Server is checking price every 2min and mail all alerts after.Keep opened page somewhere only if you want to use "play sound" option.
