grow digital currencies to this point may now be starting to die away, as the slicker – and more rounded – commercial start-ups move in.

I don't think so. Why should it come to an end? Most problems that have occurred in the past have been caused by centralized services/exchanges.
We should be looking into the future with P2P not the past.

I agree with you, we can't just thinking about the past. We must think to the future, because the future is now and next :)
