Masternode guide for windows:
Go to the masternode tab and then click on "create local" button to create a masternode easily.
Sometimes it can't find your IP when doing that.
So you can also make one like this
Go to the masternode tab and then click on "create..." then enter the info it asks for
then send 5 million coins to the address that has the same name as your masternode in recieve coins tab.
then go to the masternode tab again and click get config
then turn off the wallet and go to your genius folder in appdata roaming to make a genius.conf file and enter that config you got. fill out the info it asks for.

It can additionally be made the same way as making a dash masternode but using 5 million coins instead of 1000 coins.

Sure, adding Masternodes to Genius coin sounds like a great idea.
I have already started working on them. Give me a few days to finish and test. Release on the 15th of June.
5 million coins required for the user to be holding in order to create a Masternode.

Make a coin with no purpose or features, wait for pow to be done then ask community what they want him to do with the coin. Has this ever been a recipe for success? how does this differ from a thousand other dead coins?

Mein wallet ist nicht syncron was ist zu tun?
It should find peers automatically. Perhaps wait 5 minutes or so it should find nodes.
It connects to peers automatically for me even when syncing on a new computer.
But if it isn't working automatically for you, you can add these nodes in a genius.conf file.
Code:
addnode=101.165.90.37
addnode=174.95.0.132
addnode=91.134.53.161
addnode=194.44.203.196
addnode=209.188.18.164
addnode=212.243.7.37
addnode=151.237.134.90
addnode=68.184.180.69
addnode=2001:918:ffdf:320:dc88:47ff:fea6:dc8e
addnode=2605:e000:141d:4355:a419:e867:70c7:eae8
addnode=76.90.105.71
addnode=2.93.190.63
addnode=76.69.225.119
addnode=73.142.206.88
addnode=24.253.114.6
addnode=118.193.147.47
addnode=107.130.201.180
addnode=2602:306:b82c:9b40:95a:cf94:97f6:ee23

or you can add them manually using the console window if you don't know how to make a genius.conf file.
to add them using the console enter them one by one like this(you don't need to use all of them. just until you get a few connections. after you add a few of them, restart the wallet.):
Code:
addnode 101.165.90.37 add

We are testing the new wallet for release on the 15th.
It has been running great and syncs fast.
https://i.imgur.com/DinHZQO.png

The new wallet changes are:
Added masternodes and stealth addresses.
Added encrypted messaging.
Removed irc seed that made the wallet hang when closing.
Updated GUI to that cool new GUI that the new coins are using  :P I really like it.
New logo.
Everything else is pretty much the same.

New wallet released.
Links are in the first post.

Please update your wallet before June 23. Updating your wallet is simple. Simply close old wallet and then run the new wallet. Nothing else need to be done.

Is masternode working fine? My adr have 5M, port 31111 is open and when i check the "Masternode network" tab, i only see my ip. Active is at 0 sec, and last seen isnt moving. Also, on the "My Masternodes" tab, my status is empty.

Thank you

is staking working with masternode on the same wallet?
You can not stake on the wallet while running a masternode at the same time.
but you can open more than one wallet with the same computer. so you can stake with one wallet and use the others for masternodes for example.

For example read the following if you want to setup more then one master node using the same computer with one ip address.

You can change the port and the rpcport and setup more if you want.

You will need one copy of the data dir and the genius-qt.exe for each master node that you wan to run.

Here is an example of running three master nodes.

Folder that hold the block chain and .conf files
C:\SubFolders\geniusMasterNode1
C:\SubFolders\geniusMasterNode2
C:\SubFolders\geniusMasterNode3

Folders that contain the genius-qt.exe and the .bat files to launch the masternode
c:\MyFiles\geniusMN1\
c:\MyFiles\geniusMN2\
c:\MyFiles\geniusMN3\

Then in each of the above folders you would put in the following .bat files to launch the master nodes.

StartMasterNode1.bat
genius-qt -datadir=C:\SubFolders\geniusMasterNode1

StartMasterNode2.bat
genius-qt -datadir=C:\SubFolders\geniusMasterNode2

StartMasterNode3.bat
genius-qt -datadir=C:\SubFolders\geniusMasterNode3

Also in each of the data dir you need to put in a genius.conf file like the following.
Notice with each config they use a different port and a different rpcport for each genius.conf.
It is best to have staking=0 so it does not stake.

genius.conf for use with genius Master Node 1

Code:

maxconnections=100
rpcuser=YourRPCUser
rpcpassword=YourRPCPassword
rpcport=32222
port=9999
gen=0
server=1
daemon=1
staking=0
reservebalance=99999999
masternodeaddr=YouIPAddress:9999
masternode=1
masternodeprivkey=YourMasterKey
rpcallowip=127.0.0.1

genius.conf for use with genius Master Node 2

Code:

maxconnections=100
rpcuser=YourRPCUser
rpcpassword=YourRPCPassword
rpcport=32232
port=9998
gen=0
server=1
daemon=1
staking=0
reservebalance=99999999
masternodeaddr=YouIPAddress:9998
masternode=1
masternodeprivkey=YourMasterKey
rpcallowip=127.0.0.1

genius.conf for use with genius Master Node 3

Code:

maxconnections=100
rpcuser=YourRPCUser
rpcpassword=YourRPCPassword
rpcport=32242
port=9997
gen=0
server=1
daemon=1
staking=0
reservebalance=99999999
masternodeaddr=YouIPAddress:9997
masternode=1
masternodeprivkey=YourMasterKey
rpcallowip=127.0.0.1

The largest boon's to the currency right now I believe would be:
More Exchanges (bleutrade c-cex, poloniex, cryptsy, bter, btcchina?)
A built in marketplace into genius. Allow simple, cost effective listings, perhaps an integration of open bazaar?

Beyond this I would like to this coin live up to its name and do something novel in the crypto world.
Currently there are a few problems which are plaguing every coin, adoption, identity, and longevity. People are typically interested in crypto, but lack proper information/experience to really 'jump in' The more genius removes friction from that entry point the better off it will be in the long run.
So partnering with places like gyft, shapeshit, and other instant coin services will bring some good exposure, but I believe a strong roadmap that alters the PoS implentation a bit to pave the way for future adopters to get involved typically I believe this has to run in conjuction with a Proof of Age and Proof of Quality. Together those 3 systems can be algorithmic-ally entwined to provide no only distribution and adoption solutions, but also eliminate scaling problems by properly incentivizing nodes big and small.

A developer/bounty fund would probably go a long way as well to further involve the community. Perhaps a fund funded by a few masternodes?

Just some initial thoughts, most crypto is simply cloning old ideas with new graphics I hope genius is different!

great post and agree with you 100%

one thing i want to point out is, dev made the coin but we can not ask  one person to do all the work
we as community have to decide which direction this coin will take
some thing simple as contacting exchanges , gyft, shapeshit, and other instant coin services...its too much work for one person or dev by him self
also need contributors not in funds wise only but people with skills they can offer to get the coin noticed ..like a web site,logo etc etc..
what im trying to say is..its up to the holders to make the market not the dev..don't expect the dev to work on this coin and  lazy  bums get spoon fed btc in profit

Agreed completely - I love the name and have been looking to get into a crypto that is a bit more 'ground-level' so to speak being relatively new.
I will begin setting up a webpage - temporary space will be updated later
I will also put up a few versions of logo ideas with that update

Excellent, thanks for the feedback! :), we will proceed with option 1 for the time being to get the ball rolling. Which means:

Community Development Roadmap - 6/20/2015

Current State:
  • Dev is working, as am I.
  • I've received 6 million Genius in donations thus far.
  • Establishing a masternode with 5 million with the intention that a vested dev. fund will have greater flexibility to spread the coin in the future with at least a few streams of 'income' which can later be distributed through community lottery or other means if need arise due to centralization of conflict or interest issues.
  • Domain/server shopping - I'm potentially willing to bootstrap this as its comfortably in my wheel house of skills so the cost is only the cost, but would love to get some help :).

ToDo:
  • Establish domain
  • Move website to domain and finish v.1
  • Add website to genius coin repository
  • Add private e-mail service to domain (linked to Genius coin blockchain/messaging perhaps?)
  • Finalize branding graphics
  • create social presence
  • Initial market analysis

I'm sure Dev has a few surprises on the wallet/coin end - I plan to have some equally interesting surprises on the community side. Namely, leveraged use of automation and A.I. to spread the word of Genius Coin... and hopefully live up to its namesake ;). If you have any questions, comments, concerns or otherwise please feel free to reach out all of my operations affecting genius coin are transparent and will remain so.

Thank You!
C.P. Ishsota

Yes, Masternodes are live and working!
It requires 5 million Genius (plus a small fee)
Just click masternode in the GUI and create a local masternode to get going quick.

I was wondering if old wallet ws still working. Dev said june 23 a few days ago.
The hard fork was on June 23.
People need to use the new wallet in order to use Genius coin. The new wallet was released 1 week ago so people had time to update by simply closing old wallet and using new wallet. If a person was using the old wallet until after june 23 then they would need to resync using the new wallet.

The latest mac wallet in the OP opens just fine on OS X 10.10 here.
If you really want to compile it yourself, then please add more info. The compile error would be a good start.

If you really want to compile it yourself, then please add more info. The compile error would be a good start.

The wallet I downloaded from the link at OP and opens and closes immediately, osx 10.10.3 is version precise!
To compile on linux this is what I see in the terminal:

Makefile: 1771: instruction set for the "build / key.o" Failed
make: *** [build / key.o] Error 1

PS: I have already installed: secp256k1

That's very strange, it works here!

I think I know what your problem is, you probably compiled the latest secp256k1 from github.com/bitcoin/secp256k1?
That repository made secp256k1 incompatible with most cryptocurrencies using it since commit 210ffed.
You can easily solve that by checking out an earlier version of the repository.

What you do is:
Code:
git clone http://www.github.com/bitcoin/secp256k1
cd ./secp256k1
git checkout a1d5ae1
./autogen.sh
./configure
make
make install

Let me know if that fixed your problem.

git checkout a1d5ae1   :   i have this !

Note: checking out 'a1d5ae1'.

You are in 'detached HEAD' state. You can look around, make experimental
changes and commit them, and you can discard any commits you make in this
state without impacting any branches by performing another checkout.

If you want to create a new branch to retain commits you create, you may
do so (now or later) by using -b with the checkout command again. Example:

  git checkout -b new_branch_name

HEAD is now at a1d5ae1 ... Tiny optimization

As we grow this coin it seems (to me) that a polling/voting system within the wallet would be a great way enable the community. Nothing fancy, perhaps just an added PollQuestion and PollAnswer1,2,3,4,5 to the messaging system and then a way to pay (to avoid spam) to send it globally?

Other ways at integrating the community all lack/alienate some group.

Thoughts?

P.S. we're on coinmarketcap now:

Start simple with some minor features/clone. Build trust and from there you will get more involvement and people who will want to help.

Simple things also cost less time, so impatient investors will be silenced.

Wow great, the dev is really active. Moon incoming!

why so in a hurry? do you have any idea to help the coin?  :)

I would second this, its a marathon not a sprint :). Even better its a marathon that we can all participate in via virtue of Dev wanting an involved community.

What feature would you like to see make it into a coin? Are there issues that brought you here vs other coins? If you are just looking to make a buck that is fine too, but tell us - how do you feel your buck could be made even faster?

If he doesn't promise the moon, he doesn't have to try and deliver it, this is beneficial for everyone involved. If you have some ideas though I would like to hear them!

Multisignature, darksend and a built-in explorer

Yes explorer in wallet is pretty easy to do. I can put one in the wallet pretty easily.
Darksend would take more time. But still possible if people really want it.
Also there is already multisig support in Geniuscoin through the console and commandline. But a gui for it would be good.

Geniuscoin Version 1.1.3.0 released.

Hard fork on block 100,000

Update your wallet

Windows wallet v1.1.3.0:https://mega.co.nz/#!EoY1mJjS!urb3JHtIJ-Dns3wzdRS1WlcMOAK-IniRzHh9NKX2t74 (https://mega.co.nz/#!EoY1mJjS!urb3JHtIJ-Dns3wzdRS1WlcMOAK-IniRzHh9NKX2t74)

Mac wallet v1.1.3.0:https://mega.co.nz/#!dhQ03bQa!hRA0f3ww1OAqCJ6s1n6XUVZPWfYLQHpseURSAjCYLYY (https://mega.co.nz/#!dhQ03bQa!hRA0f3ww1OAqCJ6s1n6XUVZPWfYLQHpseURSAjCYLYY)

Geniuscoin opensource github repository:https://github.com/geniusgns/genius

Github v1.1.3.0 release tag:https://github.com/geniusgns/genius/releases/tag/v1.1.3.0

Addnodes available here:: http://www.blocktree.io/peers/GENIUS/

Notable Changes include:

Rewindchain ability. Ported from Shadowcash(SDC):
Rewindchain allows users to erase a specified amount of blocks from their blockchain file so they are able to sync from what they have left after the deletion.
This ability is very useful and has many use-cases. One use-case is lets say you are not on the right chain(maybe you are off by 158 blocks), and you would have to resync the whole wallet if you were using another coin. Now thanks to Shadowcash technology, you can erase those bad blocks and be on the correct chain again very simply. To use Rewindchain simply open the console window on your wallet and type rewindchain <NumberOfBlocks> (replace <NumberOfBlocks> with the number of blocks you wish to erase from your wallet so you can sync starting from there.)

Lower number of confirmations needed for coins to be spendable after staking:
The amount of confirmations you needed to wait before being able to spend your coins after you have staked was 1000.
That is more than 16 hours of waiting to spend your coins.
After the hardfork the coinbase maturity will be decreased to 198 blocks instead.
198 blocks is about 3.3 hours and is a reasonable amount of time.
The hard fork will be on block 100,000. We are on block 83547 as of this post. That means the hard fork is 16453 blocks away(about 12 days away.)

There will have to be another mandatory update sorry about that.

The wallet does not synchronize only to crash after reaching the 49993 block.

did you find anything? Would be nice to get this fixed :)

Thank you!
Yes I fixed it.
I uploaded the fix to github https://github.com/geniusgns/genius/commit/b8be37a1ad636c01e585bc23c2fdb790fca34b3d
And I tested it. Synced from 0 to the current block easily with it after adding addnodes and also tried staking.
Now I just need to compile the binaries and then release it and ask people to update their wallet again after.
Before doing that, I would like to test waiting until the coins I staked confirm to see if the maturity is working or not so I can fix it before release if its still broken.
 :)

Ok it works.

Windows wallet:  https://mega.co.nz/#!ksgzXKhD!4cEcrSF9N-1ibsqw_Gg_Y8ke1gbF2-crOx1697_TO_Q (https://mega.co.nz/#!ksgzXKhD!4cEcrSF9N-1ibsqw_Gg_Y8ke1gbF2-crOx1697_TO_Q)
Source: https://github.com/geniusgns/genius

Once everyone like the explorers and exchanges and stakers update and since the network was forking they could either resync or rewind the chain like 20k blocks and sync from there and hopefully everyone will be on the same chain again.

Now that I fixed the problem, you guys can tell the exchanges and explorer and eachother to update your wallet and get on the same chain.
I don't think it makes sense for me to stay while no one is interested in it.
Its been 2 months and no one even likes the coin.
I have wasted alot of time and alot of money lost.
Good luck to you.
I just can't do it anymore.

I've contacted c-cex (just to be sure), yobit and blocktree.

That's a bad new that you quit now... You did a great job. scclub said that he will start promoting the coin soon.

c-cex has updated
[GENI] Genius   118891   v1.1.4.0-g32a928e   POW: 2.05539572 POS: 3696290.41501518   679757000   2015-07-31 11:04:28   2015-07-31 11:04:28   Ok

Sorry to hear that  dev :( It seems that running an honest coin is grueling and thankless work these days.

FWIW I always liked this coin - it has always run smoothly for me, and the masternode just works without any problems. Maybe I'm late to the party but I just followed @genius_coin on Twitter too.

It only needs an exchange that trades GENI for DOGE or LTC (or any other alt coin) now. 1 satoshi sell orders are just piling up on Yobit.

Dev came on Yobit today is talking about relaunching coin. He's going to burn a lot of them and give the holders more value
