Block rewards acted very weird, they were decreasing by 1 every block, there were block rewards with 204, 203, 202, 201, etc when they should of been capped and much lower. 0.o

Switched a piece of my rigs here, let's see what this all is about.

I like the fairly long POW/No Pre-Mine for this coin... and I also like the fairly limited number....  1.25 million or so POW .... with the 9 percent POS, is there a maximum number of coins? Or is it 9 percent inflation 'forever'?

I think 9% annual, which is ok if they have some good plans.

Yes 9% annually and the maximum coins is set to 9m which will take more than twenty years. If the majority of the community decide in 2026 that they want it to be a different amount we will maybe change it though.  :)

Why does everyone want an exchange IMMEDIATELY?  Difficulty is low as hell right now, enjoy getting easy coins before more people have their attention drawn to it.

Did you restart your wallet?  Usually those runaway exception errors go away after you start the qt once.  And here is my getpeerinfo for anyone needing nodes.

What do I have to do to add seeds? Do I need to create a txt file and copy it into the moin directory? What do I name it.

Hi. There are no hardcoded seed nodes in this version of the wallet that is why we put the nodes in the first post. We will put some in the next version to make it more user friendly.  

For Windows go to

c:\users\YOUR-NAME\appdata\roaming\Moincoin\

and create a text file named Moincoin.conf with this in it:


Then restart the wallet. Please let us know if this solves the problem for you.  :)

Yes thats right if the first phase had been pure PoW the total would have been around 1.2m but it will be a less due to people staking.  :)

Sometimes, but thats the risk/reward you need to weigh.  Once it hits an exchange, the difficulty and hashrate will tend to trend toward rewarding you the same amount of coins as if you just mined BTC and used it to purchase the alt anyway, as people will take advantage of it if they can mine and insta-dump to get more BTC than they would have normally if they were just mining BTC.  I didn't word that very eloquently but I'm too tired to fix it.  I think you get the drift anyway.

I miss the days where a new alt could come out, and you were at best trading through a google doc on bct for weeks, crossing your fingers hoping cryptsy adds it.  Sure, you wasted your time and electricity occasionally, but at least you had the opportunity for high risk/high reward situations that savvy miners could capitalize on.   Today, we have an exchange rate within hours of the coins release and if the coin is booming, the hashrate and difficulty goes sky high instantly.  We also had a whole lot less scam coins in those days since devs couldn't ninja launch in the wee hours of the morning, dump the instamine by lunch time, and be working on their next shitcoin before dinner.

I wish I was staking... but the reward time keeps rising...
Until then I will keep mining...

If you're using mac/linux the case sensitivity of this file is important.  I had to name it 'Moincoin.conf' with a capital M. If you're in windows - it shouldn't be an issue, but worth a try.

Now our suprise. :) We have been working for some time on a new and totally decentralized crypto currency forum. The Meus forums will be accessible from the Moin wallet but we hope it will be not just be for Moin but for crypto in general. The software is itself based on a modified version of aether for people who know it.

We have "kicked the tires'" but are only a small team. If you would like to volunteer to help with the final part please pm us. We will contact you with the download link and instructions for the final testing starting Wednesday. We have some concerns about the scalability of our antispam measures but if everything behaves the way we hope we will open full public beta from 13 May with the Moin wallet with integrated Meus portal available publicly from then.

We think this is an important step in the journey towards free economies and free communication.

It is not our plan to compete with bitcointalk.org but more to offer what we hope is a version more true to the decentralized idea of bitcoin.

He hasn't been online for a week according to his profile. If this was a scam I fail to see what they actually would have gained from it. Let's hope he comes back - a decentralized crypto forum would be really cool.

Okay, so it looks as if the dev is finished with this one. I've looked a little into decentralized forums. They claimed what they were working on was based on aether (http://getaether.net/) which is a decentralized version of reddit. Though interesting it's still a bit of a work in progress and has one or two limitations that don't make it very suitable for a crypto board: identities aren't continuous and images aren't supported. I guess it could be argued that the no pics thing might lead to more substantive discussions, but the identities issue is pretty much a killer blow.

I'm going to continue looking into it. I'm going to be honest here though, I'm no great programmer so this will be a labour of love. And a part time one at that (I haven't the time or a big enough stake in this to justify anything more). A developer I'm quite friendly with has said that he will help where he can, but again this will be when he has the time. Basically... it's highly unlikely anyone is going to make much money out of this. But I think a decentralized forum would be a major boon to the community and the problems involved are interesting, so I'll see what I can do.

If we're going to do this at all though there will probably need to be a coin swap in order to move to a codebase in our control. It also gives us the option to fork from something a little more interesting. I'm not sure if it'd be possible to do this and adhere to all of those, but that's something I'll be looking into over the next few days too. Hi guys, I've had a busy week this week so haven't had a chance to post but we're still planning on doing this and the wheels are in motion now. I'll try to post a more detailed update tomorrow.

So the forum is obviously something that will take a while, but in the mean time to get things moving I'll be taking some smaller concrete steps starting with a takeover ANN which I'll post within the next few days.  We're considering a name change and rebrand as well.
