Quote
Countries around the world have a wide ranging view of the digital currency bitcoin or a “virtual currency.” Western superpowers like the United States and United Kingdom have shown a positive attitude towards the new technology. Some countries like Canada and Australia are still deliberating on what to do about Bitcoin, legally. And the many others have already made their decision against digital currency as a whole, and bitcoin, in particular, so here we’ll list the ten places you’ll find the most trouble using bitcoin. Keep in mind not recognizing or supporting the use of bitcoin and banning bitcoin are two different things. This article focuses on those who ban bitcoin legally, or in practice.

Surprised by the Bitcoin ban in countries such as Sweden and Iceland. I was thinking that these countries were more "progressive". On the other hand, the bans in India and China are hardly surprising.  ;D

Amen. The reason the list is surprising is because most of the bans are utterly ignored. It is also hard to use the word "ban" so broadly. Some of those countries have restrictions, but not outright bans.

Its not surprising to see bans.  I would think that the banking industry would be dead set against cryptos.  Of course they could always join the party but interestingly they seem to choose opposition in stead.  If they joined the party everyone would benefit even themselves.

They have to force their citizens to use money that they can create more of in order to pay for all of that so-called "progress".

Badly researched article. Bitcoin is not banned in India.
The article includes India just to get to a list of 10 countries.  :P

Have you read the article?

I have been to India, and I know what is going on there. There is no de jure Bitcoin ban as such, but there is a de facto ban on all Bitcoin-related businesses. Almost all the Bitcoin-based business ventures operating in India has either closed down, or are planning to close as a result of this. As mentioned in the article, an example is BTCXIndia.
