At least 72 people have been killed in Syria's northern Aleppo province by barrel bombs dropped from government helicopters, activists say.
The UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights says 60 people died in the strike on al-Bab - a town currently held by Islamic State (IS) militants.
It says 12 were killed in a rebel-held quarter of the city of Aleppo.
Syria's government has repeatedly denied using barrel bombs - large containers filled with explosives.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR), which gathers information through a network of activists in Syria, called it one of the worst massacres perpetrated by the government so far this year.


Meanwhile, Islamic State is reported to have blown up Tadmur prison near the ancient city of Palmyra - which fell to the militants earlier this month.

When ISIS massacred some 1,000 people in Palmyra, this Syrian Observatory for Human Rights remained quiet, perhaps at the orders of their Qatari sponsors. And when the Syrian armed forces kill a few dozen Islamic State militants, they go ballistic. I just hope that the Syrian pilots drop more and more barrel bombs over these ISIS terrorists.

The use of barrel bombs is just barbaric and inhuman.

The US-backed junta in Kiev recently used white phosphorous against the civilians in Donbass. Israelis have always used it against the Palestinians. But I never saw any coverage in the US mainstream media about this. Anyway... the worst perpetrators seems to be the US Armed Forces. The USAF have used white phosphorous against civilian targets in Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya.etc.

I can't even comprehend living or functioning in these war torn areas that the US has some responsibility in screwing over. I guess that's what a modern civil war looks and feels like. That said, this is the first I've heard in recent times of the Syrian government taking action against ISIS. You'd think these chopper pilots would realize they're on suicide missions considering it would be so easy for these IS fux to take these things out w/ all the advanced US armaments they have.

Good to hear it actually. But it still less than ISIS terrorists killed in Syria. Asad should be more harsh with everyone who oppose him. He is the only one who stands in ISIS way. USA actually should support Assad regime =)). Same as Russia doing.

The USA tried to intervene militarily in Syria a while back to get rid of Assad. Russia blocked the move.

So now instead the USA just supports ISIS and other terrorists to be used as a proxy army.

when were beheadings considered humane ? A few dozen years ago we would've never had this conversation : humane killing vs inhumane killing ...it was just winners and losers...there isn't anything humane in wars, so I don't see any point in discussing killing methods...

Isis is a bigger threat than Assad for all of us so I for one don't give a damn how they get killed...Assad is a much better pet than Isis in my opinion, one that can be controlled...they could skin them/Isis alive for all I care

When I was in the military we learned that the Geneva convention authorized 50-cal ammo against equipment but not humans.  Of course most of the enemy were wearing clothing and that could be classified as 'equipment'.  As I understand things, 'willy-pete' is authorized for 'illumination' and 'smoke screens'.  One cannot have to much light on the battlefield no matter what time of day it is, and having some smoke is awfully useful...especially when it burns people's flesh down to the bone.

IIRC, when we first went into Iraq for the second time we dropped a lot of napalm.  But it was OK because we had re-named to something else.

War is a racket people.  Anyone who implies that a war is 'just' or we are 'humane' or any of that shit is a liar or doesn't know their ass from a hole in the ground.  We (the U.S.) should never engage in a conflict without being utterly prepared for our being guilty of committing all manners of atrocities.  Nor should we support anyone else so engaged without expecting similar or worse behavior.  That is not to say that we should never do it, but we also should be prepared for what it means.
