Title: Multibit and the fork to XT
Post by: gogxmagog on June 02, 2015, 01:15:24 AM
Will the fork to 20mB Bitcoin XT affect multibit? As multibit is my primary hot wallet is there anything I should be concerned about? Not interested in opinions about the fork, just the end user realities.
Any thing I should know?

This is really similar to a recent thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1074222.msg11509138#msg11509138

In short, I don't think you're going to have to do anything except potentially upgrade your multibit client.  Doing that will most likely be the same as when you've done it before (you'll probably need to import your wallet into the new version).

But you shouldn't have to worry too much. :)

Only profits and maniacs claim to have 100% knowledge of the future---which one are you?  On the other hand, worry never a good thing (IMO).

Nevertheless, I agree that most-likely there will be nothing to be done from the perspective of a multibit-user.  MB is developed by Mike Hearn (IIRC) and he's one of the proponents of the increased block size (again, IIRC).

No, it's developed by Jim Burton and Gary Rowe, but they use Mike Hearn's BitcoinJ library.

tspacepilot is probably thinking of Lighthouse, which is all written by Mike.

Ok, thanks for straightening me out, guys.  For the record, I was thinking of the connection via bitcoinj, which is by Mike Hearn.  At least I'm right about Hearn being a proponent of the block-size increase, right?

Yes. Bitcoin-XT is Mike Hearn's project.
