Post by: Sold Sold on June 02, 2015, 12:16:10 PM
I keep encountering the 5 PM per hour limit and its making it very difficult to talk to escrows and stuff. Can someone whitelist me or take the restrictions off my account? thank you

I'm pretty sure that's not going to happen. The restriction will be reduced overtime while you increase your activity. Everyone goes through that process.

The good news for you is that you're about to reach 15 points of activity which means the restriction will be heavily reduced. Check this:

What are the time limits on posting and the levels??
I know 360 seconds are for new people like me, but was wondering if there was break down somewhere on this.

Code:
waittime = 360;
if(activity >= 15)
        waittime = (int)(90 - activity);
if(activity >= 60)
        waittime=(int)(34.7586 - (0.0793103 * activity));
if(activity >= 100)
        waittime = max((int)(14-(activity/50)), 4);

Once you get to around 30 activity it won't be as bad. You'll just have to sit through it for the time being.

Whitelisting does not take away PM per hour limits. You will not need to wait 360 seconds between PMs however you will be stopped at 5 PMs per hour (and I am fairly certain that a PM to two people will count as two PMs).

What does this mean?  Ecuamobi suggests that OP just has to sit it out.  Quickseller suggests there is such a thing as whitelisting but that it doesn't affect PMs.  I'm confused.

'Whitelisting' is there. Admins and a few others can whitelist users. EcuaMobi said it won't happen because admins and others who can do it needs a good reason for whitelisting a user and OP doesn't have it. So the chances are very low.

Whitelisting removes any time limits that you need to wait between actions (posting, searching, sending PM's, etc) - it actually reduces the limits to once ever 9 seconds, but the max per hour limits will still be in place (if you have less then 16 activity then you can send 5 PMs per hour, greater then 16 activity then 30 PM's per hour, greater then 30 activity then 60 PMs per hour and greater then 100 activity then you can send 120 PMs per hour (source (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=253190.msg2702160#msg2702160))

Thank you! I didn't know that. I study new things from this forum everyday. :)

Local mods can't whitelist, right?

So basically since you can't register accounts through TOR anymore, or pay the btc to have them registered, this is the only way to have the account "whitelisted"? Am I to understand this correctly?

He is asking to get whitelisted for reducing waiting time between activity not for using an account.

To your question: Yes.

I never heard or knew about something as "whitelisted" , it's really sucha great feature and more of it should be encouraged to avoid newbie member's buying accounts to lift the limit time.

Idk if whitelisting should be promoted because it would be another system that future scammers would do. They could easily request a whitelist and after that, they could go on to scamming spree. If a user really wants to be part of this forum, he/she must go all through the processes without asking for some privileges that others didn't receive.

Thank you for telling! I thought local mods who are not patrollers or mods of main boards can't nuke newbies.

* Fixed typos.

The point that I commented on is about the encouragement of whitelisting for newbies, not the buying of accounts. Buying accounts could probably help you get into this forum with a high rank, but also, in the unofficial list of rules in this forum, buying accounts is not encouraged.

I understand.  However, I also think it's worth bringing up in that context that the argument "he/she must not take a privilige that sn't earned" is weakened by the allowing of bought/sold accounts.

No, its not.
Whitelisting is done by mods/admins for those people who want to get rid of the PM limits and the 360second posting limit. However its only done in certain special cases, so you wont get to see it happening quite often.
