Title: Dead/forbidden Links
Post by: frnk on May 31, 2011, 03:43:26 PM
On the bitcom.org website reside the following links:

FAQ -> https://bitcoin.it/wiki/FAQ
WIki/Help -> https://bitcoin.it/
Trade -> https://bitcoin.it/wiki/Trade
and many more.

They all lead to a
"Forbidden
You don't have permission to access /wiki/FAQ on this server."
error message.

So I have two questions:
1) How can bitcoin gain trust of people while not caring about their main homepage?
2) Doesn't it seem kind of dubious forwarding from dot.org to some italian content?

Can anyone who is involved with that website (and supposably wants bitcoins to be accepted by 'the people') attend to that problem please... thanks.

PS: Don't tell me it's a browser-/system-/language-related problem, as I'm able to do any 'real currency'-stuff with the same configuration.

Thanks again,
Frnk

Never seen a webserver go down before?  Sometimes it takes more than a couple of hours to get them back up.

Ok... then I can just regret the bad timing. As many people in other threads already mentioned there is a promoted article in a big german news magazin today:
http://www.spiegel.de/netzwelt/netzpolitik/0,1518,765382,00.html

Good luck with the webserver though...

Bitcoin isn't dependent on anyone caring. The website is a courtesy of developers/fans. Having said that, it would be nice if someone put some serious time and effort into a good website for laymen.

I made a read-only copy of the wiki: http://eu1.bitcoincharts.com/bitcoin-wiki/wiki/Main_Page.html

Don't bookmark this link!

Bitcoin isn't dependent on anyone caring.

That's not an appropriate answer. If you want to criticize me like that, you should have sent me the ftp passwort of that website, so I can correct or delete the links (=care) myself. I think someone (who in your opinion 'does not care') got the password, cause s/he 'runs' (as they say) that website.

So, jokes aside, my question was already solved by the first reply. And some interesting information was added by tcatm, thanks to that one. I'd donate some bitcoins if I already had some. :)

I almost sent you the passworts to everything.  And then I realized that it said helf (http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_32hrlI11ixI/TUh_dbnFrRI/AAAAAAAAAkE/LUCBwrP_zoY/s400/helf.jpg).
