I am keen on starting a Sydney Bitcoin community. For meetups, trades and general discussion around all things Bitcoin.

Well it seems to be attracting some interest. As I said I have set up a FB page, but for those that do not want to join the group on FB I will post updates here as well. I am thinking of setting up a meetup in about a month or so. I personal know of a few people that would be interested in coming, but if we can get the number up before the actual day that would be awesome.

Open to suggestions, dates and all round ideas if anyone has any.

How ironically beautiful that, the home of the RBA seems to be the perfect spot for a bitcoin meetup. I do miss Sydney so (especially the *cough* sheilas! *cough*).

I would be keen to organise another meetup in the future. Unfortunately the first one was a bit of a flop. Only two of us attended. I still have the Sydney facebook group going and I am also looking for contributes to help keep it running. So if you are interested let me know.

For those that weren't there, we had a great meet-up today. A big shout to Damien from Bitinnovate who bought everyone drinks (and food!).

If you are in the inner west, we have a meetup organised for every Monday at 7pm @ Brooklyn's Pizza Pasta Bar Granville. They will be accepting bitcoins as payment for food and drinks. An Avalon chip Australian Group buy and board assembly will also be taking place on the night for anyone who is interested.

When are we going to host the Oz Conference?

still a bit away but planning to attend the Monday 16th Sept meet :)

We now meet weekly! Usually on Wednesdays.

Check facebook, meetup.com AND reddit for our weekly Sydney meets. Thanks to Jason for organising and for pushing the discussion agendas forward. There is a lot of great discussion going on in each meetup around the promotion of bitcoin to the general (Australian) public.

If I'm not mistaken one of the members is also organising a lunchtime presentation on Bitcoin in the CBD in a couple of weeks.

Yep thats the one. We've been busy organising Sydney's first public bitcoin event. Watch this space and local press for updates :)
