Political Systems Explained for Dummies (and Farmers) Using Two Cows

The fundamental principles of the different types of political and social systems explained via a simple example using two cows. You heard right, COWS. If you know what a cow is and are aware of the fact that the produce more than just steaks for your dinner, such as milk, you are good to go and should have no problem to understand it.

FEUDALISM: You have two cows. Your lord takes some of the milk.

PURE SOCIALISM: You have two cows. The government takes them and puts them in a barn with everyone else's cows. You have to take care of all of the cows. The government gives you as much milk as you need.

BUREAUCRATIC SOCIALISM: You have two cows. The government takes them and put them in a barn with everyone else's cows. They are cared for by ex-chicken farmers. You have to take care of the chickens the government took from the chicken farmers. The government gives you as much milk and eggs as the regulations say you need.

FASCISM: You have two cows. The government takes both, hires you to take care of them and sells you the milk.

PURE COMMUNISM: You have two cows. Your neighbors help you take care of them, and you all share the milk.

RUSSIAN COMMUNISM: You have two cows. You have to take care of them, but the government takes all the milk.

CAMBODIAN COMMUNISM: You have two cows. The government takes both of them and shoots you.

DICTATORSHIP: You have two cows. The government takes both and drafts you.

PURE DEMOCRACY: You have two cows. Your neighbors decide who gets the milk.

REPRESENTATIVE DEMOCRACY: You have two cows. Your neighbors pick someone to tell you who gets the milk.

LIBERTARIAN/ANARCHO-CAPITALISM: You have two cows. You sell one and buy a bull.

BUREAUCRACY: You have two cows. At first the government regulates what you can feed them and when you can milk them. Then it pays you not to milk them. Then it takes both, shoots one, milks the other and pours the milk down the drain. Then it requires you to fill out forms accounting for the missing cows.

PURE ANARCHY: You have two cows. Either you sell the milk at a fair price or your neighbors try to take the cows and kill you.

SURREALISM: You have two giraffes. The government requires you to take harmonica lessons.

LIBERTARIAN/ANARCHO-CAPITALISM: You have two cows. You sell one and buy a bull. You create more cows and bulls. Your business grows. You compete with your neighbors, engaging in land grabs for your burgeoning business. You shoot all the wolves because once you saw a calf get taken down by a wolf. Everyone else does the same. No more wolves. Ungulates, now not fearing wolves, browse the vegetation around streams, creeks and rivers, where before, they wouldn't because the terrain around the river banks hindered their escape in the event of a wolf attack. They also shit in the water, as well as your cows. There are now no more rodents and smaller species that used to hide in the now decimated vegetation around the river banks. And so the symbiotic relationships between organisms die a slow death in the riparian zones (the river banks). The soil is now not cycled, and the water loses its purity, becoming polluted downstream. Fences go up because your land is your land, by god. Species migration suffers, and extinctions occur. The world dies a slow a death.

Exactly! And it's sad. Here's why. Consider this statement:

Quote
LIBERTARIAN/ANARCHO-CAPITALISM: You have two cows. You sell one and buy a bull.

Isn't that the current model in most nations?

The world dies a slow a death.

And then the system get reset and another cycle can begin, just like in FPS videogames when you get killed and re-born in the same place.
You might as well re-born as a cow: there is no much difference with taxpayers in fact of getting milked.

It's a little bit more complex than that. Your argument shouldn't begin and end with the concept of being taxed.

I think the model that we have in most nations goes something like this.

you have two cows you sell one, the government takes a quarter of the profit and gives it to the banks as interest on the national debt.

you had hoped to buy bull but now you must borrow the extra from the bank to pay for the bull. you then have to pay back the loan with interest which you can do for a short ammount of time but as your bull and cow have not generated enough ROI eventually you default. the bank comes along and takes your bull and your cow. you claim social security which the government borrows from the banks adding to the national debt.

Perhaps you have made the following error: Failed to recognize that it wasn't me, but the original poster who labeled ANARCHO-CAPITALISM as the system which is prevalent today in most nations.

Nope, I disagree that "You have two cows. You sell one and buy a bull" is the current model (with)in most nations. It was you who implied AnCap was the prevalent system in that sense.

I do agree that is how it works between nations and it that sense we see pretty rampant abuse of force.

Arachno-communism: You have two cows. Both are confiscated and sent to the capital, where one starves and the other is used to hold the offspring of our benevolent spider lords.
