Title: Scam Report on User brendanjhwu
Post by: TraderCal11 on June 28, 2015, 02:18:59 AM
I've been asked to put together a report of my experience with brendanjhwu. Recently, this user has been accused of several scams. His/her MO has been to receive payment via btc and claim that he has sent the digital product to your email, when he really hasn't. I have attached images of our interactions, and I will also summarize the experience.

User saw one of my threads, and contacted me wanting to sell a $25 Amazon Gift Card Code for $15 USD BTC. I had been doing these trades all day and always sent first, never had a problem. I decided again to send the BTC first to his address, since he had a higher trust rating than I. I sent the btc to him after asking a few questions about the cards. He went silent after this, and blocked me from messaging him. These are our messages back and forth, in order.

I tried to keep contacting him, but he blocked me. Haven't heard from him since. He claimed he sent it to my email, but I received nothing. I challenge him to produce proof that he sent it.

Will do everything I can to help in this case at the request of the community. Thanks

It seems like that person had quickly scammed several people prior to anyone reporting him as a scammer.

This is just one more example as to why it is always a good idea to use escrow when dealing with someone with little to no reputation even if it is for a small amount.

Lesson learned for sure. I am happy to say, however, that this is the first issue I've had with a member of this forum. For this, I am thankful and glad. Hopefully we can resolve the issue!

The forum is unfortunately filled with scammers. Unless you quickly start taking precautions to protect yourself, you will have a lot of money stolen from you. The fact that bitcoin is not reversible and that people can communicate without revealing their identity, means that people have no problem with scamming, even for small amounts, however the small amounts often add up quickly
