I will be doing a group buy for sidehack stick for Canada. It will give us the opportunity to paid one border and 1 shipping. I will then use canada post to ship to everyone.

buying direct, its $40usd/1 or $150usd/5 ($30usd/ea)

presumably you could sell them for something closer to $25usd/stick + ($10usd/1) or ($15usd/5) in the reship. which is pretty small savings

if its cheaper than that though, sign me up for 2-3 sticks

I cant estimate the price since I will see when I receive the package with the border fee.
But for sure splitting the border fee and having 1 big shipping will help on the price for sure.

Woah 125$ border fee? Thats crazy for a 525$ import, make sure they didn't do a mistake and are trying to fuck us over!

For shipping, for me just use a bubble envelope. For instance 50-100g would be 1.80$ postage fee. The envelope are 1.79 for one or like 5$ for a pack of 10. (All CAD prices)

I will check but Im not sure I can really argue with the border fee.

yeah something is not right as the fees should be like 5%-10% ? It's like 2.5 times what it should be.

Make sure they did use the right category of custom fees for the package.

Perhaps, just sound like they did a mistake. I got 600CAD~ worth of ASIC recently and the border fee was 27CAD~. I'll pay and if they refund their mistake then we'll see but yeah its several time what it should be.


You wake up too early :P I guess we'll all have to just be patient.

Like I said before, border will be hard to negotiate since they are already paid by canada post. I will check just to be sure but dont hope for a reduce on that.

There should be no duty, as the items were manufactured in USA.  There should only be GST or HST payable plus whatever brokerage fee the courier charged (i think Canadian customs now charges $10 for assessing/clearing, on top of what a courier may charge).

Are you sure you're not actually at a bank? Seems like around here they only work between 10AM and 3PM.

Our post office opens at 8AM and closes at 5PM M-F and noon Saturdays. The next town over, theirs closes at 4:30.

I hate postal service. They cry because its hard and bla bla bla but they never work. Im about to start my own shipping company.
Working from 9h am to 4h pm this is soo stupid people work during these hour.  >:(

That's pretty ridiculous, even my bank realized this and is open till 9PM now.

I guess you can trust Poste Canada to continue digging its grave. It's evolving really slow and not keeping up with the pace of the modern age.

Maybe edit OP and Title to say that the group buy is finished/close. If you're willing to do it again for the last batch when it come out, then that would be cool to know too!

I'll probably be starting the next batch manufacture within a week or two. If you want to coordinate another group buy I don't have a problem with it. I believe bitcoinware is planning on restocking for their website sales as well, if that helps anyone. I'm not sure how their price compares to valkir's.
