Post by: Abiky on July 20, 2015, 02:25:15 PM
Is there a beginners guide to trading BTC? I want to know a good strategy I could use to successfully trade BTC and alt coins without losing profit (if it's possible).

Below is a list of coins that I currently hold:

I want to become a successful trader. I'll appreciate if you could give me any hints or tips. Thank You.

I've made some of my biggest gains and losses trading altcoins. It really is a gamble. A lot of them are pumps and dumps and the devs and early miners will dump soon after the new alt is listed on exchanges. Be careful.

look at this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mk9fep8niYw

i'm inclined to think that the best strategy for altcoin, is to buy those that are really cheap, because you can buy a greater amount without spending too much, which will make you investments less risky

or you can follow a group that pump altcoin, like fair pump

It's really risky and hard to trade in altcoins or bitcoins, they are all extremely volatile and long term is impossible to predict their prices, to be able to trade successfully you will have to spend a lot of time, and i mean A LOT, watching the coins you want to trade with, watching the charts every minute, hour, you cant just check it once per day, you have to benefit from any little change. You should only start trading if you can afford the losses which are going to probably happen at first.

Bitcin and altcoins trading is risky. I suggest you to hold the best altcoins and dump the bad coins after you do your own recearch. When the price is up, you sell them. When price is down, you buy it.

If you are a newbie in coins trading, I suggest you only focus on one or two promising coins!Otherwise you will be messed around!

I am not much familiar with Altcoin Trading but i can give you a profitable suggestion that is currently operating , i think you should buy yovi coins (https://yobit.net/en/trade/YOVI/BTC) it is special type of altcoin , i hold no lust in your share , i am saying because i also hold some ~400 yovi coins and its price is hiking from last 5 hours , there is also an announcement from its Devs that they gonna pump the coin this week , so will suggest you to buy some of them .

I take no gurantee of your Loss , but if there is profit you can remember me !  ;)

I have no idea what that coins is about! But from his saying, I know the coin is just pump and dump for big profit! It is risky to buy it when the price is insanely high!

your suggestion isn't good, there are no buyers for that coins, it look like a complete dead coins, basically you're advicing him to get scammed

OP stick with known coins like litecoin(better to not get involved now, because of the recent big dump, there won't be another pump anytime soon), doge and dash, you can try monero but it seems stuck in a limbo

pls, man looks at the volume of those buy orders, is ridiculous, it's like sellers are buyng their coins on purpose to start a panic buy, i have seen this pattern many times on the good old scam days in the altcoin section, like with pandacoin, leaf, USDE, noblecoin ecc...

Thanks for your replies! I think I'm going to buy more coins and hold them until the price goes up (hopefully) I know there are a lot a alt coins as well as there are a lot of scamcoins, but I'm going to carefully study the charts and hope to get lucky. I might as well lose profit if the coin's price goes down. Anyways, I'm going to try this and see how this works.

Yep, investing in new altcoins is never a good idea even if it looks good at first it can turn out scam if it had pre-mine. OP is asking for trading guides not investing guides anyways, if he wants to trade he should only do it with ''stable'' altcoins or bitcoins.

Yovi, arfkm?  ;D that may be the worst coin you could buy right now, do your own research as to why I would say that.
My advice is sell it all and don't bother with it. Alts a year ago were a great way to make btc, now the chances of gaining are so outweighed by losing it's not worth it. As for btc trading, volatility is just not there unless you are trading huge amounts on margin, but you better know wtf you are doing.

You can still make money in altcoin trading.

A lot of the price movement on the altcoin market is based on pump & dump. Buy the coins when it is quiet with low volume, sell when there is a spike in price and volume.

Thanks for your advice. This is going to be my daily routine....so I'm going buy lots of different alt coins and wait until there's a spike in price. I have to be careful with this since there had been a lot of scamcoins around recently. I'm just going to stick with the coins that have a good community and development.  :D

Yes this should work but for this you need nerves of steel and a lot of patience. Sometimes, when you get in, there is no movement for weeks, even months. Look at the XCP lately.

To the OP, trading is really tricky mate. Crypto is unpredictable and there are no rules at all. Half of the time when you hit a trade it's just a pure luck.This is from my experience trading.
Best of luck!

Yeah i like sports betting than playing some dice game. Sports betting is the best if you are lucky in predicting some sports game and also it's the best because it's fair and no one can cheat on you except the team that you choose.

Is there a beginners guide to trading BTC? I want to know a good strategy I could use to successfully trade BTC and alt coins without losing profit (if it's possible).

Below is a list of coins that I currently hold:

Bitcoins = 0.03398223 BTC

Litecoin = 0.13 LTC

Dogecoin = 5974.18 DOGE

Casinocoin = 2.50 CSC

Ethercoin = 2.80 ETC

Tamagucci = 133 TAM

Mooncoin = 435880.5555555 MOON

Paycoin = 80 XPY

Ripple = 30 XRP

I want to become a successful trader. I'll appreciate if you could give me any hints or tips. Thank You.

I have to say that i am not best trader as i am still new, but i noticed that  if you want to earn  money from trading, you have to do this :

Don't trade many coins at same time, if you bought some just forget them for some time and sell then, keep like 3 coins only and trade them

If you don't want to lose profit, then never sell currency for price that is lower than price that you bought coins, as this way you won't lose it

And sell only when price is larger than price that you bought them, and try to buy coins when they are pretty cheap for largest profit

Good strategy. I have been keeping a bunch of alt coins myself into paper wallets for future reference. It will serve more like a savings account than a checking account since it will be only used in case the price goes above the one I have initially bought the coins from. The most profitable coins for me have been PoS coins, although I have to admit that it is very tricky to receive good rewards (stakes) if you don't have a huge balance of the coin. Also, the difficulty is another factor, but at least I am making extra coins with these (which could be seen as earnings).  :)

Sometimes you have to take loss. Every trader knows this and has done it.
Taking loss is not too bad if you make sure you can are making up for it with another coin.

Speaking of which, I think that Maidsafecoin will be worth a lot more than what it is right now once it becomes officially released (SAFE Network). So the lucky ones, who get MAID at these cheap prices will later gain huge profit. This may be considered a smart trading move, but it is always advised to never invest what you can't afford to lose.

By the way, I have heard that NXT 2.0 is coming along the way so it may be a positive sign that it may increase in price real soon. Right now, I am educating myself more about trading and investing. I would always love to hear some advice from somebody that will guide me through this path.  :D

well if you're beginner,this means that you probably don't have required knowledge for all these different bitcoins, so you should focus on 2-3 only i think, then you will make profit

and then keep eye on these currencies, and their prices, when one of these price falls down, you should buy, and then wait some time for price to rise, then sell

well you want to get profit only and i can understand you, but you have to be ready to lose some money too as you just can't avoid these moments when price drops for example

just keep eye on all coins you have and when one of their price rises you should sell them to bitcoins, and when price falls down you should buy, and you will get profit

Whatever you do when you start trading, avoid new altcoins at all cost. For a new trader it's hard to predict which coins are from scammers and which are actually legit.
And starting your trading career with a loss is not good

From the comments above I see that people have suggested you to invest in Yovi coins which is risky because you can;t sell them, it's rise only marked and you can only sell to someone else outside the exchange which is hard to find and it is not recommended. I would suggest you to start with etherum, poloniex has high volume and the price changes too often, trading (altcoins) is always risky.

First OP need to decide how fast he wish to make some profit, it's a big difference between daily traders and people who buy cheap coins and wait months for price rise.
It's hard to catch that moment's when to sell and when to buy again, if you are not careful you can lose money with bad decisions.
I think its good that OP have a lot of different coins, but its hard to follow all this coins. Some of them you need to keep for long, and to try to invest more in them from time to time. Choose one or two for daily trading, when you see big rise sell your coins and wait for drop, after big drop think twice will that coin go up again and buy.

It's better if you do some research first before choosing and buying coins because if you are greedy and all you do is to random pick and spend all your bitcoin it can result for losing money which is a bad scenario to happen. Do research first about the coin that you want to buy if it has a good road map.

That’s good at least you have diversified your investments across various alt coins. I still consider myself as a newbie (actually I am) when it comes to trading and that makes me to study and research in deep about any investment option. Yes, you can earn good amount from altcoin trading if you are enough capable to control your greed, otherwise it’s pure gamble.

Stay away from pump and dump schemes (green upward signals on each second is tempting but stay away from it).  It doesn’t matter if you are not making any profits in the beginning but defend your capital and avoid losses.

True,chosing  or investing  more than 3 coins would  be quite hard since  you would really need decent amount when you decide to trade. Well, those list are  such  good coins  but it doesnt guarantee you to make profits if you decide to  invest to them all. It would be very confusing unless if you manage to handle then there would be no problem as long as you have the big money  to  invest  into trading.

It's better if you do some research first before choosing and buying coins because if you are greedy and all you do is to random pick and spend all your bitcoin it can result for losing money which is a bad scenario to happen. Do research first about the coin that you want to buy if it has a good road map.
Yes without proper research if you are taking any step in trading or for any kind of investment you’re just risking your hard earned money. According to me if you are not sure about the result you must wait but do not take any step in hurry because it can result to a big loss.

altcoin trading is a very risky move cause they change alot and anything can happen in seconds so you have to stay update to be there in the right time.
You can download some phone apps to stay up to date with the prices and then be prepared to track it every hour so when it moves up you can instantly dump and restart. also buy cheapest altcoin cause less risky cause you buy more with less money.
