Title: Got my 1st BTC, and now?
Post by: pokeviktor on July 25, 2015, 01:04:05 AM
Well... Time has been running and finally I got my completely 1st Bitcoin, 1 year and a half after.

It has been hard, really hard in some moments when you can see your wallet going to 0 and beginning again, but knowing a little bit more. Specially hard when your better way to win some satoshis -yes, all those time I have been thinking in satoshis- all users have fallen because it was a trap or someone hacked it, going really faster than you, and you are there to see it.

But now, I can say I got it, from my own, from my skills and from teamwork, specially from my teamwork. Finally I got a Bitcoin without steal any satoshi to someone, only with my work, you can appreciate it in any forms, someones speaking and another ones writting.

But... what should I do now?

I know there are a lot of users who can explain me how I should invest 1 Bitcoin to continue my adventure, please give me some advice.

Thank you  ;)

Invest? Or just hodl it until the perfect price comes. We're talking about bitcoin price skyrocketing to the Earth 2.0 in some light years away. There's a chance that it will go beyond 300 this time.

Both are thinking the same, but both know 1st is better than last (for me) :P

I understand your will to increase your satoshis, but, like some people already did,
i would advice you to have patience.

If you believe, and i guess that all here do, BTC will have much more value in the near future, 5, 10 years??

So, congratulations, keep working, always forward and...to the moon!!!!  :D

I think your best bet is to hold.  If you want to invest, then maybe only invest at most .5 btc.

You can work for btc, there has to be some skills you can offer either here or elsewhere.  That imo is better than chasing the next great investment.  You can lose really fast if you are not careful.

For example, I lost a little bit on bitcoincloudservices, they stole the money and ran.  I didn't do enough research on the company, and I got screwed.  But I only had a very small part of my money in there so it didn't really effect my bottom line.  In fact I can use it as a write off, so its a lose-win I guess.

There is always a great sense of achievement to owning your first bitcoin. Congrats to you.  ;)

There is no bitcoin "investment" worth risking your first hard earned bitcoin. One bitcoin will not earn you much per year even if you invest it somewhere legit. Generate a vanity address safely (eg. 1stBTC....), make a paper wallet and hold it.

Keep working with your team, your next bitcoin will take half the time to earn.

Keep for now till December this year. There's a lot of speculation that price of BTC will increase when block halving starts... and don't even think of investing on those ponzi schemes that promises 100% ROI in 24-100 hours.

YES Op should move your Coins to cold wallet as there is chances of bitcoins being hacked and you might feel urge to gamble look for Paper wallet or trending trezor wallet.
Yeah i forgot to mention that jjacob (http://jjacob) , thanks anyways.

the easiest option is to keep holding on to your bitcoin stash and wait for the future price. but try to add more to it because 1BTC isn't really going to help you that much unless the price goes beyond the moon.

and as far as investment goes, just don't invest in anything shady like ponzi schemes or shady cloudmining. if you can, trading is always a good option to make more bitcoin but not easy.

Right now OP, you are one in 21 million. That is fantastic, but you can still improve. Get to 2.1 BTC, become one in 10 million. Once you get there, get 7 BTC - one in 3 million, then hit the big 21 BTC... and be one in a million. You can continue on from there, but for most of us, being one in a million in regards to BTC is a fantastic benchmark.

simply hold your coin. create a cold storage wallet and make enough backups just to be sure you never lose control over your coins. holding bitcoin is already an investment. and a great one  :)

Start saving for the next whole Bitcoin.

If you look at the system from a mathematical point of view, the daily inflation rate of bitcoin is currently 0,025%. That means, as long as you are saving more than 0,00025 btc per day, you are increasing your weight in the bitcoin network over time because you are increasing your percentage of the ledger.

Now you hold on to that Bitcoin.

#1 Smile and brag when it goes up.

#2 BUY when it goes down, BUY...,BUY when there is blood on the streets.

#3 Spend a little bit of bitcoin, we must engage this economy and show your peers it works.

Is this really that difficult to grasp ? He means the number of bitcoins that someone owns in relation to the maximal number of bitcoins.

1 btc out of 21 million = one in 21 million
2.1 btc out of 21 million = one in 10 million
21 btc out of 21 million = one in a million

-> 21 million divided by X.

Congratz for owning your first whole Bitcoin buddy. You worked hard to reach that aim so now please do yourself a favour and also treat that Bitcoin like that.
My advice is to HODL that beauty and continue accumulating as much as you can the next years.
In 10-15 years you might look back sitting in your nice furnished house and say " Damn yeah that was worth it"!! ;)

Congrats! The only thing to do is to leave it as it is in your wallet. This is not only the only thing to do but even the first. The second is to not invest it in any way because you will lost it. Third thing to do is to think how to find the second one. If found the way begin to work to have that. Then repeat this cycle how many times you can. And after 20 years you will be wealthy.

my opinion? print some fancy paper wallet, sent the one btc to wallet and start checking this board, bitcoin related news and trackers every day.

and start collecting other one. if future is in bitcoin, you will have to just hold it long enough and you don't need more than one..

Welcome to the 21 million club!

Put that 1btc in secure cold storage, so you don't have to rely on any 3rd party and keep it secure from hacks and hardware failure. Then focus on earning more (signature campaign maybe?) and start using them as currency. Only by actively using BTC you keep the economy alive and increase the chance that your holding will massively gain in value one day.

HODL it. Put it in cold storage, on a paper wallet or something & look after it. Don't listen to anybody telling you to trade or invest in some kind of bogus schemes etc.

The best thing for you to do imo is to HODL that 1 bitcoin. In 5-10 years it could be worth 10,000 USD, maybe more.
So put it in cold storage & then work towards getting more coins.

Thanks for all your congratulations, first of all  :D

My idea was hold it and wait for an extraordinay pump (like everybody), keep working on same line and that's what I'm going to do; but my intention with this post is know what other users did in those phases to earn more.

I know about faucets, referrals, gambling, trading and do some works to other users, but I want to know about other possibilities or which one of them (except gambling) are the best way to continue.

21 million isn't the total amount minted right now, but if you see it as an investment, it is the end game that is important. Since Bitcoin halves every few years, the total of all coins within 20 or so years will near 21 million. Of course, it won't be exactly that, and if you want to get technical, there are also a large number of coins that have been lost. For general use though, 21 million and 20 million won't make a huge difference, just stick to 21.

I think this whole thing is borderline retarded, it would be true it btc was like some sort of limited super rare metal, that you will have hard time getting your hands on even with the money. But right now its far from being true, anyone with the cash easily convert it to btc without much of a problems.

You can think that if you own 21 btc you are "one in a million" elite, but reality is that you juts hold 6k dollars of digital money.

Right. 21 BTC worth 6k in Fiat now. In 10-15 years those coins might have increasd a hundredfold of actual price.

Do it again and repeat.

You can think about investing when you have a lot of BTC, at least 20, so you can invest and still have decent savinga

Well, I think I'm going on the good way; 17 days later my wallet grows faster than my first time gaining satoshis for free :)

I'm close to raise 0'1 BTC on my new wallet (around 1M satoshis left), and probably that will be made in less than month.

I have to THANK YOU all for your suggestions, because what I've done is clausure completely my other wallet and nothing is entering or outing there. All what I've done has been from zero and results are really good and with future.

I will continue doing that, for sure  ;)

P.D. I NEVER bought a satoshi, all earnings have been for free, by using my skills for work too.

What jobs are you exactly doing? Once you reach Sr Member you could try some signature campaigns. The payments are low but it's better than 0, a nice small extra.
Anyway, after getting your 1 BTC you know what's the next game like, try to make it 2.

Just put that in you cold wallet and watch it everyday to get more confidence that you have done it and aim for next big thing(2 Bitcoin or more).

As you have started with newbie account and now are full member, so it will be easier for you now to earn extra Bitcoins faster.

Exactly, leave it to be, your 1 BTC. If you are feeling like working on the second, you can do it. If not, get your 1 BTC in the cold storage and leave it there for 5 years. If this thing really takes off, even with 1 BTC, you might end up rich one day!

Good luck to us all! :)

I wouldn't advise just to hodl. There are certain ways to increase your holdings with not that much of a risk. The first thing that
crosses my mind is to give out loans to users that can provide valid collateral. That way even if you don't get paid back, you can
simply sell the collateral and yet again make a profit.

I have no doubt that pure holding will increase your bitcoins fiat countervalue, but it will still be only 1 btc..

cheers

Yep! First of all, very thank you for your donations, that was a surprise  ;D

As I said before, I never bought a satoshi, then the value in dollars is not important for me right now... all comes without more inversion than my time in front of the computer doing whatever I do related with accumulate satoshis. I've lost money? I don't think so...

I'm used to do translations from English to Spanish or Catalan, because I born and live in Spain and I can make perfect translations to my own lenguage; with that work I got good part of that first BTC. Another work was community management from other cryptocurrencies' Facebook & Twitter official pages in english, what is my speciality out of BTC's world.

About signature campaigns I've been checking for, but I think my English is not far so good to stay all day writting :P For me is very easy translate from English to Spanish, not on the reverse way. My vocabulary is limited and I need take my time to write what I want to say exactly.

Loans are for usurers, and I don't want to be one of them ;)

I'm working on the same way I began and right now I got over 0'09 BTC on my new wallet, the other one is completely frozen waiting for 'Da Pump'.

Thank you all for your suggestions and encouragements :)

I've got my 1 BTC too and I've put it in a paperwallet. Now 'm trying to accumulate ~1BTC more in Moneros, of course this is my personal bet, do your own research and analyze which alt-coin do you believe that has any future.

Think about 1 year and half before I was a n00b here, I began earning satoshis trading altcoins and using faucets, without mining, buying, investing, loaning or gambling...

Then tell me: how many people do you meet they did that from the same date to now in the same way I have been working? Tell me, too, how many satoshis people give with a translation or community management and how many works like this appears?

Your correct. Gambling no one can make profits forever. Another point is holding BTC for long time is not a very good idea because it may not even reach his historical high price 1000+. So it is better idea to sell when you think you have made a some decent profit from you coins.

That's awesome, I'm still trying to get my first BTC. I think how much more depends on each case, to me right now 5 BTC would be an investment that I can afford to lose if things go wrong. We need to understand that in 5 years either it's replaced by something new or it will continue to rise in price like it has done every year (without considering the bubble).

That's great to hear! All of us has to do things to earn precious bitcoins. Just don't get greedy and try to gamble all of it in hopes of getting bigger profits! Always remember: slow and steady wins the race! Also, holding long-term is your best bet if you want to make good use of your bitcoins  :)

In your run-up (or anyone's) to 10 coins and more, just buy and hold. Do not trade, gamble nor anything else w/ your upcoming stash. Keep working or doing whatever it is that is allowing you to come up on more coins but don't get fancy with them, just hold. Very few traders make money regularly, so hold. Did I mention, buy and hold! Best advice I can offer, don't mess around with your coins, just hold and let the market do its thing. Or, do all of the above, cry and lose your ass. You've been warned and don't take any advice on the markets or otherwise unless you got skillz. Also, don't spend coinage on mining.

What projects? Most seem to be scamcoins, or just projects that aren't worth your Bitcoin. I think the best strategy is still buy a hold. Investing in Bitcoins within itself investing all projects related to Bitcoin. There are a very small handful of projects worth investing. I have my doubts about even stuff like ETH these days.

Factom is a good investment IMO since it uses the bitcoin blockchain as a backbone for its data layer. Also Maidsafe as well.

Try to invest in something that isn't just trying to be another clone of Bitcoin but is different in its character.

I agree even if I own some altcoins. The best strategy is to grow your own stash as much as you can or feel comfortable with. I know many people like to invest as much as possible but we are not blind fanatics on Bitcoin. It can worth nothing in some years. But it's my feeling that the opposite can be true also so it never hurts. Ten bucks is not much today, but in the future it can be a lot. I personally would like to own around 1-5 BTC at today's price, more than that I don't think I will be relaxed and it will be a very serious/high risk investment for me.

Everybody should invest and hold what they feel comfortable with. This can be 1, 10 or 100 BTCs. It depends from person to person. You have a plan. For you a 5 BTCs investment would be great and everything over this is just too much.

It's good to have a plan. I came to a conclusion that many people in Bitcoin space and on this forum don't have a clear and concise plan. So they are wandering around and in the end end up losing money. Decide what you want, need, get it and be happy with it.

1. Keep it, and build upon it the second and third coin and so on.

2. Come after 5/10 years and thank me for letting you rich :)

3. Enjoy ;)

I shall give the same suggestion. But to use some to circulate the bitcoin to support the society. By doing that, the value of bitcoin will increase gradually.

May be you're right. But my opinion is more than $500 also possible in 2016 with respect to continuation of current trend. All the above the are having the scheduled halving in mid 2016 which must be a big boot to bitcoin prices in 2016. So, hold.

With the current trend bitcoin prices may hit even $600 level in November month itself, it seems. Bitcoin prices are moving now with the push from the new investors whose new money flow into the buying side make this magic possible.

Yeah I agree, there are plenty of coins that have been established for years. I also agree it's not really profitable if you don't know what you are doing but it's fine to make a quick buck. I wouldn't recommend going all in.

Trading alts is a very dangerous game. If you have no inside information, you will lose a lot. 99.9% altcoins are scams. All the market cap of alts added up is less than of bitcoin.

Well not completely all alt coins are scam.
A good amount of them are trusted and have millions of dollars invested to bring up an alt coin.
But the number of 'sh*t or scam coins' is being increased and there is a high risk to invest there.
