Title: Bitcoin Porn anyone?
Post by: The Koolio on June 02, 2011, 04:30:00 PM
As the title says, surely there should be more porn sites accepting bitcoins... porn is the biggest industry in the world anyway!

I'd totally get behind pitching this to my friends working in porn. The porn industry (or for that matter anything with 'adult' content) has obnoxiously high credit card fees and chargeback rates. Having very low fees and no chargebacks is to its benefit.

Potential problems: trying to avoid selling such content to minors in order to comply with legal requirements could be problematic, unless one went around demanding ID from all customers. Anyone know of a non-credit-card based method of verifying customer ages?

I could probably be persuaded to produce a small amount of kinky porn sold for BTC if I can avoid selling to minors.

Actually - "minors" are paying for porn successfully wright now, with existing methods. That problem is not solved.
You should determine what you want more clearly. Do you wand to stop minors from easy access to porn, or you just dont want have any legal related problems with this ?
That problems require different approaches and have different prices.
And, "how to not allow access to porn, for minors" (for real), is not solved anyhow, till now.

all that would be required is a disclaimer at the enterance for the site saying you have to be of legal age in your state or country. Take into account of certain laws, i.e. UK imposed a new law last year banning extreme porn. And also include in the disclaimer that it is down to the internet line owner to give permission to minors to use their line, at the end of the day it rests on their shoulders as you have to be 18 to take out an internet subscription.... either way, its all good to go.

People say who still pays for porn, well they should know that porn is the number 1 industry in the world, and that theres always a horny customer ready to splash their cash, especially when they get a one on one service, i.e. webcam girls. that would be an ideal market for bitporn!

I presume those kind of services would still offer regular paying systems, such as cc and PayPal. Just have them submit a cc to register a pay account, then let them choose to pay with BTC.

I don't want legal trouble. It looks like the 'standard' is to have a portal that requires confirmation from user stating he/she is over 18 to see previews, and then a credit card to actually purchase.

To avoid legal problems, you can use standard options, and then propose to use BTC, along with other options. That was mentioned above.
So, the main problem is - authentication of user. He will lost his anonymity in process.
No test can be used to prove age. As alternative, only some weird stuff comes to mind.
Like - photo of some body part with proof (like btc address written on paper or on that body part). But that is really mad. And maybe not so effective, until some suit will prove that this is enough.

Bitcoin NEEDS porn to be legitimate.

Agreed. Bitcoin needs porn. It certainly helped blu-ray win out over the technologically superior HD-DVD.

I have some friends who would add Bitcoin as an option to their Adult sites tomorrow- if there was a script/mod to deal with verifying the transactions and writing the password files. Once there is a good Bitcoin driven members section management script this will take off.

I believe most paid for porn, or what is leading the industry, is direct payment to the females.

Similar to Bitcoin, the porn stars have managed to eliminate studios and are no longer stars, but peoples daughters with webcams.

It's really a great time we are living in.

Feel free to PM for an invite to this exclusive site :)

I really do look forward to any working cart systems for adult oriented sites.

There is hardly any money left in porn anymore.

The adult toy market is huge though. But that is just a subset of other retail products. No special treatment needed.

Girls preform, get tips, toy companies pay girls to demo toys, sell toys.

While we're on the subject, bitcoinsextoys.com is terrible. Free shipping is all they offer and don't mention that it takes 4-8 weeks until after you pay. It's been 6 weeks now, no delivery. The Madhatter might not be a thief, but so far the result is the same.

This is not the first time I have seen a complaint about this web site.  I have access to toys, I might set up a shop on the weekend.  Nothing fancy, but legit and of course things ship on time would be rule number 1.  Which would make processing Bitcoins at an acceptable speed a rule that somehow comes before 1.   If toys are of interest, I will get on top of it unless someone is reading this thread and has more free time, otherwise I will get something up for the sole purpose of having it for the community as well as providing options with vendors.

I forgot already in which section of the forum I saw a commercial of porn sites and services, but it's actually full of it. If you are really interested in I can try to find for you couple of links ;)

There are many porn sites that accept only bitcoin that you find them in the darknet. And trust me, many people are paying to get access to them, not only with bitcoin, but also with fiat. As a matter of fact, as the OP stated, porn industry is very successful. Many investors are investing in it because the demand on it is very high. Perhaps they should implement bitcoin as a payment method. But still requires, perhaps, juridical approval or something like that.

This is floating over some porn forums for sometime now and it's nice getting some opinions here. I'm pretty sure that it exists because I had used bitcoin on some of the best pay porn sites http://www.best-pornsites.com/ I'm using. Though there are only few "well-known" porn sites that offers this feature. Porn is a growing fast as stated by many of you. Yeah, so I'm pretty sure these big porn companies are considering it now.

A lot of the bigger Adult related sites are looking at other Alt coins like Vice Industry Token (VIT) - See for example what Playboy TV did, https://www.coindesk.com/playboy-tv-to-accept-crypto-payments-for-exclusive-adult-content/

Bitcoin is a much better solution and will even be faster and cheaper than most other Alt coins, once the Lightning Network is fully implemented.

Some people on Tor, like to ask for Monero and Dash for their content, because it is more anonymous than other coins.  ::)

Actually many people spending lot of money for the private chats and the rates based on the beauty and nationality of girls.Colombians are more prettier for my eyes and cheaper too so next time try them if you want pretty girls with cheap rates at private shows.

Funny but very great idea :D. Porn this day is very popular around the world and it be should pay to watch it . Because minors now can watch it for free. And if the payment is bitcoin or crypto many minor can't watch it. That's the good effect of this topic.

Was supposed to mention about VIT(vice industry) and XVG(verge) when it comes to this porn thingy and since we do talk about Bitcoin , just like been said above ive seen some services which do offer live cam shows which is on the payment is on bitcoin or any other payment options.
When it comes to anonymity then i would hands down for Monero. Porn industry is already being utilized here on crypto.

You could just use a clean Bitcoin address which has not been posted anywhere else on the internet by you and do it that way. Monero is not as popular as Bitcoin and there would be no real incentive as a business model to accept it as they are just limiting their profits.

Monero should probably push for this though as it would be a great incentive for people to buy Monero over Bitcoin and other altcoins.

Privacy-focused Cryptocurrencies will face a lot of troubles in the coming years, because government regulations will focus in on these currencies. The complex on-chain cryptographic methods they use, make them more anonymous than Bitcoin and that makes them more suitable for illegal porn.

The problem is governments will push back hard and these currencies will not be used in large industries that are properly regulated.  ;) It is also used in the more illegal side of the porn industry, like Child pornography.  >:(

You are apparently right yet there are a lot of porn sites that accepts Bitcoin as a mode of payment for premium accounts but still why pay for a premium when you can download dozens of torrents of it?

Yet due to declining price of Bitcoin. It is also possible that it won't make a huge help to the industry in the future.
