Title: BFL Customer Communication Portal
Post by: BFL_Josh on September 28, 2012, 01:42:25 AM
In an effort to improve our customer service communication, one facet we have been working on is our communication portal.

portal.butterflylabs.com (http://portal.butterflylabs.com)

It's a combination of forums, articles we intend to publish and some blog style communication from certain departments within BFL.  We are also working to improve our Customer Relation Management system, which we should have in final testing next week.  Between our portal and our back end management system, I hope to improve our communications a great deal.

The forums will be moderated, much more so than Bitcoin Talk and our forums are not meant to replace Bitcoin Talk in any fashion, but are intended to provide our customers and potential customers with a place to ask questions, get answers, find news and announcements with regards to BLF products and events as well as just talk to other users.

I've done quite a bit of testing locally here, but I would like to get some feedback from users on what we can improve as far as that goes.  Please feel free to sign up and take a look around.

waiting for activation email, are your servers melting or did the Internet eat it?

(on Google Apps for my Domain, I have checked spam folder)

Congratulations on completing a systems rollout. I've been through CRM rollouts a few times and they are a hassle, but worth it.

Yeah, still a few bugs to work out.  The missing pictures should be fixed.

With regards to the email, I neglected to get the reverse DNS setup - I will be doing that now, but in the meantime, a lot of email servers may be rejecting it because of that.

Could you also add a link to the Forums from the main site?

What is the action to take when the activation email never arrived?

Nice, I like it! Regarding the live chat, have you considered using a freenode IRC channel for it? Might get more people to sit in there idle and pop in once in a while to ask/answer questions vs having it on the webpage.

Spam folder ate it, all good now.

Never got the activation email, not in the spam folder too. Changed my email address in portal's setting, and behold, an activation email arrived.

forum/portal appears to be down

Code:
c:\> curl http://portal.butterflylabs.com
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN"
"http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd">
<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" xml:lang="en" lang="en">
<head>
<title>Domain Default page</title>

EDIT: turns out to be just the ipv6 access that's broken

Code:
C:\> nslookup forums.butterflylabs.com
Non-authoritative answer:
Name:    forums.butterflylabs.com
Addresses:  2604:5800:0:1c:20c:29ff:fe69:266f
          96.43.135.163

the IPv6 address is serving the default 'Parallels Plesk Panel' virtual host...  so I suppose I'll have to flip back to v4... :(

Will

The IPv6 issues for our portal should be resolved now.

In other news, our portal is accessible via IPv6.

:)
