I sent the difference back as soon as confirmed, just wandering what is the most anyone here has received by mistake? Stories please  ;D

In my local trading platform (Surbitcoin) someone sold about 0.40 BTC for like 9$ by mistake.

Wish i receive something by mistake lol :P

It means that you would have scammed the poor guy?

personally i never recieved one but i know thta one guy received a wrong transaction of 50 btc from cryptsy, he returned those coins back, it was a bug or something

Some one owed me nearly 0.18BTC back in 2014, but he sent the funds to a very old address that I didn't know I still had access to, the nice dude sent me another 0.18BTC. Once I found a backup of the old wallet I sent him back his 0.18BTC.

Did you send the difference back though?

I have never ever received something like this by mistake. It's good that I haven't though, it would just be some extra work for me in order to return them to the real owner.

I received $10 extra from a member last week via PayPal and I refunded him the payment. Lost 50 cents due to the fee of PayPal but I dint want to keep any extra money with me. I don't like when members send extra as they aren't even ready to bear the fee for their mistake. It's better they check before they send.

Funny but i don't remember receiving any btc by mistake, but there were many cases of deals that went wrong, or were canceled for whatever reason, where
i refunded the other party. The amount in question was mostly upto 2 btc.
Any chance we can get the tx of the transaction in question, and the name of the escrow used ? It's a pretty large mistake..

Once i sent btc priced in 60$ when i had to send 0.60$, lucky that person refunded the difference

So now what are you going to do with  the rest of the BTC you have received?
Will you return them? if not you can always donate some for charity!

OP said he returned the difference back when it was confirmed anyways, i haven't received but i have sent 0.1 instead or 0.01 once.

i got sent .3 extra from a seller here he sent the .3 i bought but was a glitch in coinbase and they ended up sending it twice. i sent him back the other .3 as soon as it confimed.

It wasn't me who receive the BTC, and i think those bitcoins weren't paid back.

There are still good people In the world for the ones who return the mistaken funds.
They believe in universal karma, it will come back to get them or enchant them for their good deeds.

Woah that is a lot of coin.  Good for you for sending it back, there are many who would not.

That's pretty kind of you. I wonder what % of people would return it back. I mean what are the chances something would happen to you if you left with the money and ran? This is bitcoin after all. Im trying to do some loaning business and im scared to do it because apparently people is scamming all the time and nothing happens to them.

something will happen to them eventually. believe me, karma is real.

haha that is a very big mistake to be made. They were lucky you returned them. How nice of you, there aren't many people like you :)

in my case its the other way around, I double sent a BTC to an address
i was so sleepy that night but I have to send BTC to 4 different addresses
in the end 1 address did not receive anything while 1 address received twice of the BTC I owe
luckily the person who received twice the amount returned without hesitation

Actually got 2 Bitcoin too much while doing a transaction last year, someone had to repay me 0.2 BTC for a loan, but he accidentally sent me 2.2 BTC :)

I've received a very small ammount of BTC by mistake; about 0.00000001 :\ That's all I've received by mistake.
But I've heard of a guy who bought a Laptop on a garage sale and found 10 BTC on it ;)

I received of about 0.17+ BTC not directly to my addy. But to the address that linked with my account on a ponzi site (btc-i24 <- anyone remember this? ) and i don't even know who's invested behalf of me :P

Somebody send 11 BTC instead of 1.1 BTC when buying CoinDice at cointoli.com

I haven't had any mistake of this caliber. I received a slight overpayment of .03 BTC in a set monthly rate signature campaign. Sent it back with no issues. Mistakes happen.
