Title: [SBC] [SCRYPT] StableCoin The Story Continues! Join Our Community Coin Project
Post by: Velvet78 on August 16, 2015, 11:21:16 PM

Stable Coin – Future Stability

It is somewhat a pipe dream to have a crypto currency that is completely STABLE, after all it is a market like any other, although less mature. However the new team taking over the future development of the coin share much of the ethos the original developer had.
The new team have come up with some exciting plans that could see much further development of the coin and it’s wallet features.
Key to getting a coin adopted by merchants is Stability with that merchant not in fear of losing financially in the markets they participate in.

Step 1)

With this in mind we propose to change the coin to a hybrid in the near future. The maths are being worked on very carefully to establish what coin production produces the best price stability in relation  to other crypto currencies but more importantly the larger fiat currencies used daily around the world at the moment. This is where most developers go wrong and just assume people and businesses will adopt crypto due to a dislike for centralised systems that have been in place for thousands of years.

Step 2)

Wallets are dull as dish water even a good one with good features looks much the same as the next on. We intend to change this and build from the ground up. A new wallet system that is easy to use with excellent features, it should be better than the best on line banking wallet because crypto needs to be ahead of the curve. These wallets will cover phones, computers and devices we don’t even know about yet, or do we?

Step 3)

Getting merchants to take the coin and people to use it. Even big brother bitcoin struggles to pull this off. Just try paying for a beer at a bar that has the foresight with BTC and you could die of thirst before it gets to your hand.

What you see above is no roadmap, it is a statement of intent to bring you the best coin available on the market. This may take a few months because we are waiting on technology improvements but we can do it. 10 people with access to many thousands in the crypto niche.
So join in, buy some coins, mine like fury and join the new revolution in giving a good ol' coin the kiss of life.

Thanks guys, we might not be the best ´devs´ but we´re doing this as volunteers and because we think that we can achieve alot if we work together and join our efforts. Too many scams in crypto and onedayfly PnD copy coins in circulation now that dont add anything to crypto.

I havent contacted the active posters in the old SBC threads yet, SBC has been dead in the water for sometime so i think its safe to assume that they dont check the threads anymore. The failed scammy takeover attempt didnt do much good either, so yes, it is a challenge for sure to get this coin back up where it belongs.

Me and my team dont like making false promises and for now, our main focus will be on a healthy chain, faster transaction speeds, healthy economics and a few new wallets to get SBC updated to 2015. Its quite an old coin and alot has changed in the scene so there are some urgent updates that need to be made. We cant decide on this alone. Thats why we´re looking forward to know what the community thinks about it and give us the feedback we need to make this a true community coin, managed by a group of crypto loving volunteers.

Arthos was a visionary at the time but sadly wasnt able to live up to the promisess he made. Im sure alot of you still feel disappointed about that. Ive read posts where people were saying that they bought SBC at 50k satoshis or even higher! SBC is very undervaluated atm, only 22M coins out there and not alot of daily supply from mining. The network hash has increased from 2 Mh to over 100 Mh in less than a day after this announcement was made.

We are listed on Cryptsy and Cryptopia, both very different exchanges, one being one of the first, the other one being a little less polished than the common exchanges but with lots of exciting new features and lots of people who are new to crypto. We have soome new miners who joined mining on cryptopia and its been doing wonders to speed up transactions. SBC is more alive and kicking harder than it ever was in the last year!

And we just got started  ;)

Compiling a qt-wallet for linux is cake - it's even often faster than downloading one. It's really about copy-pasting 2-3 simple commands into a terminal once you have the dependencies installed through the package manager of your distribution.
The problem is that the wallet for Debian 7/x64 I just compiled won't probably work on an Ubuntu or a SUSE linux due to different library version linked into the executable.

NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO

This piece of shit has nine lives, I swear to god.  It launched, looked promising, dev abandoned it and it looked dead, he miraculously reappeared!  It pumped, it dumped, he disappeared again, the coin died again.  Some time later ANOTHER revival was attempted, but it lead nowhere.  I'm guessing too many people burned by it once or twice remembered and alerted the rest of the alt community.  They must have decided to wait a little longer for people to leave alts and people to forget before trying again, because here is the same old shitcoin AGAIN.

Take my advice.  I promise I am telling the truth.  SBC IS NOW AND ALWAYS HAS BEEN A SCAMCOIN AND ANY TIME YOU SEE A REVIVAL THREAD IT IS THE SAME OLD SCAMMERS TRYING TO PULL THEIR SAME DIRTY TRICKS AGAIN.  FUCK SBC.  IGNORE SBC.  THESE GUYS WiLL DO NOTHING MORE THAN MAKE PROMISES, PUMP, DUMP, AND DISAPPEAR.  GUARANTEED.

lol nah, hadn't even read your post. still haven't

sbc is what really got me into crypto.

its personal, and i would have rather the thing just have been left well enough alone.

for anyone that hasn't been around: SBC has already been 'raised from the dead' once already, when some asshat hacked artos' profile and caused a bunch of people to yet again lose a lot of money after pumping it and scamming them.

it was also notoriously played against doge during the doge pump on 4chan to cause an interboard war to spur doge hype.

it's had a long history, and has died quietly.

this sad relaunch is on my greylist now.

So a warning to anyone happening to stumble on this now: Expect to be scammed. Might not be anyones fault either.

How nice, some of the old SBC community members found this thread! First of all, if we wanted to scam you, wouldnt we be making announcements months ago when we first started working on SBC? secondly, yes SBC's history isnt the best but whatever. its a coin, its mineable, its healthy and its cheap too. there arent that many SBC out there either AFAIK, there are more miners joining every day, in fact the network hashrate hit 200Mh/s today. only thing what was missing was some management. well dont worry cause SBC is in good hands. it doesnt cost much to get things done, theres no need for a centralised one-dev coin. theres no need to let this coin go to waste....

What we do need though is a strong community, so thats why im trying to bring old and new together.

Just a small update to let you guys know that we're still around and working on SBC. SBC looks healthy IMHO, more miners got interested in mining SBC on Cryptopia, we get around 4 to 5 miners on there on average and they are doing a great job at moving the blockchain. Transfers are way faster, sometimes even just a couple of minutes :)

We are also working on creating more (global) awareness about SBC and we received alot of support from the Spanish community. They even did some instructional youtube vids  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rod75UMUexo https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TVM0YJYD12M and are promoting SBC on various Social Media and forums in their own language. Still alot of people out there that dont know anything about crypto but every step counts right? We have some other promotional stuff coming up, like a jingle for on a crypto radio station (its awesome lol), giveaways on twitter and IRC and various trollboxes, youtube vids in various languages and maybe even some NSFW stuff  :o

As for the old SBC community, I think i will contact some of the old posters in the SBC threads that are still active to see if there is any interest left. People did alot for SBC in the past and were involved with some interesting projects, I'd like to hear what they have to say about this and maybe we could even join forces...

As always, all feedback is much appreciated. so let us know if you have some ideas or suggestions :)

VIVA SBC!!!

So, how do you plan to do anything to the coin without producing a new genesis block and making a new start?  Do you plan to use the Stablecoin name for the new coin?

Sorry for my long absence, somehow i missed your post and it didnt show under "Show new replies to your posts." My idea is to recycle a dead coin instead of creating a new one. Since it was abandoned a few times in the past there was no active development going on for SBC anymore. I dont have access to the original github either so any big changes will require a hardfork and a new github. this will require approval from the exchanges but i also feel the need for approval from the old SBC community...

Do we really need a hybrid? prolly not, but it would make SBC more secure and prevent attacks so it might be something for the future plans. Not much wrong with SBC as it is now IMO, just a bit slow at times when the diff went up a bit and there werent enough miners pointed at it. Maybe some more pools could help with that cause now its either solo mining or on cryptopia's pool so i will contact a few pool owners on here to see if they would be willing to add SBC.

Last weekend there were some big dumps on cryptsy and SBC got hit too... the price is still below 100 satoshi now which is very cheap and prolly good for new people to get involved or to invest, thats up to them ofcourse, i dont want to manipulate the price in any way and im all for transparency and community feeling.

I started this project with a few friends as a hobby and because we love crypto and the opportunities it could bring to people from all over the world. It will prolly never become one of the leading alts but i think theres a fair opportunity for everyone to get involved with SBC now, either as a community member/supporter or as investor, we welcome you all :)

After Artos made an appearance with a new website and a wallet update, SBC went from about 100 to 60,000 satoshis around November - December of 2013.  Maybe SBC will make a come back, will just have to wait and see.

Is Artos and his group officially gone for good or are they waiting for another bounce?  There was alot of controversy over the premine of 1,250,000 coins, which Artos explained they were removed from the genesis block and destroyed.  Most coin developers premine their coins before letting it go public, wonder why SBC was targeted.

From what I understand, the premine is locked and can't be used by anyone. In case of a hardfork, we will make sure that stays the way it is. As for Arthos and his group being active, I honestly don't know, Arthos didnt log in here for a long time... but if any of the group are still active on here I would like to hear their opinions.

I created an IRC channel on freenode for SBC and we have a tipbot in there, need to test a few things and will post more about it tomorrow.

I gave up on SBC, but Velvet and his team haven't so give him some support. There are good guys willing to back this for free and make it happen. What are you doing that's so good? Get in or piddle off. Enthusiasts are way cooler than fud machines. This coin is essentially the business.....buying back in now

I don't know if you know it or not , BUT THERE HAS BEEN SOME ADOPTION OF BTC HERE IN THE USA , FOR INSTANCE ,

THERE IS SOME COLLEDGE THAT ADAPTED IT FOR USE AT CONCESSION STANDS FOR SPORTS . SO WHAT DOES THAT TELL YOU . YES ITS A FEAT TO CONQUER , BUT , IT CAN BE DONE.

DON'T ASK ME WHICH COLLEDGE , I JUST KNOW SEVERAL MONTHS BACK IS WAS SEEN ON ESPN.COM , I READ IT .

Oh yes, there's lots of adoption for BTC all over the world and its growing fast. I'm from Holland myself and here i can pay pretty much any bill with BTC through some services. TBH, i dont see that happening with SBC any time soon haha but im sure gonna try my best to get us a payment processor so we can spend our SBC. For that we will need a solid foundation and a good community, both can need a helping hand or 2 so what we really need is YOU... (not only TimSweat but everyone who likes crypto!)

Maybe convincing Cryptsy to put SBC on the FIAT exchange will help.  It would make SBC buying and selling easier.  Not sure what the requirements Cryptsy has for that.

Also, the time it takes to find a block seems to increase as the hash rate on the SBC network increases.  Whats up with that?  The number of blocks mined should have been well over 1 million by now.

Are you planning to fork the block chain or leave it as is?

Good idea but i think Cryptsy only adds coins to fiat markets if they have a sustained high trading volume and have big communities behind them. Ive been looking at some payment processors but they have pretty much the same requirements.

There was a problem with the mining pool on cryptopia, where most hashing power comes from, so the last few days the chain moved very slow. Problem has been solved and there are 2 more mining pools now so hopefully more miners will show interest. We also have a new faucet https://cryptospout.com/faucet/hourly_stablecoin_faucet.html
https://cryptospout.com/faucet/daily_stablecoin_faucet.html
https://cryptospout.com/deluge/hourly_stablecoin_deluge.html
https://cryptospout.com/deluge/daily_stablecoin_deluge.html

and we're currently working on our community site which should have its own faucet and  explorer, maybe even our own miningpool.

What process is being used to build a community for this coin?  How can new developers unlock the current code for modifications and updates without causing a fork in the blockchain?

I have been watching the Stablecoin exchange since its inception on Cryptsy, just out of curiosity.  It ceases to amaze me that most trades are for fractions of a US cent.  Whats the point other than to depress the value of SBC?

What venues are being used to advertise SBC?  Also, the coin must have some utility to be useful or it won't be accepted as an investment for future higher value.  The only utility it could be used for that I can visualize is for discrete international fiat transfer.

One trader could buy most of SBC with a few thousand USD.

Literally laughing my ass off

The sudden rise in value of SBC in 2013 was not a pump.  There was a bot owned by Mt Gox, named Willy, that was buying BTC with enormous amounts of fiat that didn't exist causing Mt Gox's posted value of BTC to skyrocket.  This spilled over into the altcoin market causing an increase in value for most altcoins.

Seems that Artos and his group took action to promote SBC, at that time, with a new website and a wallet update.

hmm lately we see the opposite happening, as soon as BTC goes up, most alts are getting dumped. we're working on a website and hopefully a mobile friendly webwallet

What process is being used to build a community for this coin? I posted in all 3 of the old SBC threads and even sent PM's out to some of the active posters in those threads but nobody besides you seems interested so far. i noticed that translations helped to get some new people involved, especially on cryptopia. maybe some giveaways on irc and twitter could help to get some more awareness
How can new developers unlock the current code for modifications and updates without causing a fork in the blockchain?
like most alts, SBC is opensource, so any coder can clone the github source and modify the code. if you alter the essential code it requires a hard fork, if you make some minor changes, it doesnt. for example, a change to hybrid pow/pos would need a hard fork and mandatory update but adding a blockexplorer or TOR integration would be an optional update
I have been watching the Stablecoin exchange since its inception on Cryptsy, just out of curiosity.  It ceases to amaze me that most trades are for fractions of a US cent.  Whats the point other than to depress the value of SBC?
ive been asking the same question ever since i started trading on cryptsy ...some trades make no sense lol
What venues are being used to advertise SBC?We have a jingle playing 24/7 on bitcointalkradio and some other crypto radio stations, IRC and twitter giveaways coming up
Also, the coin must have some utility to be useful or it won't be accepted as an investment for future higher value.  The only utility it could be used for that I can visualize is for discrete international fiat transfer.

Very good point, any currency needs to be spendable but that will take some work cause as it is now, even coinwarz wont list SBC because the volume is too low, I saw that SBC was listed on coinpayments.net in the past, would be awesome if we could get it back on there. shapeshift.io looks very interesting too

One trader could buy most of SBC with a few thousand USD.

So, what's the delay in creating a website for wallet downloads?  Is it a coding issue?  Cost?

I have considered providing a website for wallet downloads of version 1.5 for windows but haven't gotten around to it.  Is the zip of the 1.5 version redistributable?

Many are cautious about someone trying to pump the price so they can dump their coins.  Without a website there is no confidence there is an effort being made to continue SBC.

Sorry for the delay, a friend is working on some new designs for the OP and website, maybe also a new logo for a fresh new start. Would you be interested in writing an article about SBC so i can have it posted on some cryptso news blogs etc?

Here is a short synopsis.  Edit at will.

Stablecoin

Stablecoin was published in 2013 as a new cryptocurrency as an alternative for the high network difficulties associated with Bitcoin and Litecoin.  Like Litecoin it uses the Scrypt mining algorythm, which means GPU hardware is required to mine Stablecoin.  After an initial release and about six months, the original developers published a website to promote Stablecoin.  The website provided a forum with wallet download links and ran for about a year.  The website was hacked and the forum was under daily attack by a cut and paste poster or bot, that posted lengthy sports articles making the forum useless.

With the high network difficulties associated with Bitcoin and Litecoin, Stablecoin is believed to be an ideal choice for the low budget GPU miner.  This makes Stablecoin a well distributed coin as opposed to the skewed distribution of Bitcoin and Litecoin with some holding most of the coins and many holding a few coins.

Version 1.5 of the Stablecoin wallet is believed to provide the best distribution of coins by increasing the difficulty exponentially based on the network hash rate.  I believe the theory behind this is to make Stablecoin more attractive for low budget mining rigs.  If the Stablecoin network is hit by Scrypt ASICs or large mining pools the difficulty will increase making it very difficult for these miners to find blocks.  This is a unique feature exclusive to Stablecoin.

The original developers have not made an appearance in over two years and many feel Stablecoin has been abandoned.  Recently, new developers have taken charge of development and enhancements of Stablecoin in the hopes of reviving its earlier popularity and increasing interest while maintaining the original state of the core code.

Is this coin going anywhere?  Over two years, it has been in a trading range between .00000050 to .00000080 BTC with one spike to .00000400 BTC where it was dumped back to the trading range.

Everytime someone buys driving the price up someone else sells a few coins to drive the price back down.  Is Stablecoin to remain stable in the range of 50 to 80 satoshi?

This is very discouraging to even consider in trading in this coin.  Perhaps there is just not enough trading volume.

yes its discouraging but sooner or later the dumpers will run out of coins. there's not alot of volume anymore but actually thats a good sign imho cause the price seemed to have stabilized. mining activity has increased as well... prolly cause the difficulty is quite low atm.

activity and volume on cryptsy has been very low for the last 2 weeks. i still have good faith that they will survive all the issues theyve been having to endure but its always better to be safe than sorry so i would suggest taking some of your alts out of there and keep them in your own wallets.

Looks like Stablecoin is officially dead with the demise of Cryptsy.  Bet the people running Cryptsy will profit nicely.  Typical MO, exchange was hacked, large amount BTC and LTC stolen, then exchange disappears, very convenient.

Cryptocurrency is a joke with most trades for pennies or less.

Also, with one of the lead devs for BTC leaving because the transaction time is in terms of hours.  Not very practical for eCommerce.  BTC will be valueless, soon.

Why would Cryptsy stop all withdrawals unless they plan to liquidate all the altcoins to accommodate their BTC account holders.   That is blatant theft.  I won't be losing much but its still theft.

I should have kept my coins in my wallet instead of trusting an exchange.  With no regulations, exchanges can do as they please.

I would say its akin to a game publisher shutting down their multiplayer servers because the game was hacked beyond repair.  No refunds for software purchases.

Just an FYI...

We've shutdown the StableCoin blockexplorer at SBC.BlockExplorer.io.

This may affect the SBC network but, without an active developer, we're wasting resources by supporting what appears to be a dead coin.

We're glad to have been able to support the coin through the years but it's time to call it... StableCoin is dead.

This won't effect the block chain.  There just won't be an explorer, unless someone writes a program to track transactions.  I wouldn't say Stablecoin is dead, its just not as actively traded as most popular altcoins.

It is listed on Cryptopia or maybe I sm wrong, there haven't been any blocks found for the last 24 hours.  No trades on Cryptopia since February 13.

StableCoin is dead.

a headsup would have been nice. its a bad joke to pretend a coins is dead now cause you pulled the blockexplorer. that being said, thanks for hosting the blockexplorer.

lots of blockexplorers to rent out there, maybe start looking around instead of complaining. or did you expect me to pay for it again? not gonna happen, ppl are dumping there sbc at 11 sat to me on topia. theres no purpose for this coin, it failed to be the first anon coin. time to find a new purpose or do a coinswap to another coin and burn all sbc.

In an effort to assist this community, StableCoin is being added to the mining lineup at http://coin-server.com.

We will also bring online an explorer for this coin, more to follow.

It appears that many supporters are giving up on this coin.  Will it take a return of Artos to garner interest?

He probably decided to either just disappear or is supporting another coin.  I read some indications in the past that he was one of the developers of Namecoin.  Maybe that is were his support is.

In late 2013, Artos provided the 1.5 Stablecoin wallet update and global marketing which caused Stablecoin's price to skyrocket to 650,000 satoshi.

What say it happens again.

those were very different times, altcoin wise. also, SBC was aiming to be the very first anonymous coin but Artos couldnt deliver what he promised (failed twice at least). there are some old threads/forums/msg's archived somewhere. after reading those and the lack of interest in this thread i cut my loses. ive been buying lots at 10 satoshi on cryptopia though so 650k sats would be nice if it ever happend again...

Prohash hasn't updated in a week or so.  You seem to be the only one replying here.  Are you the only one buying SBC?  On Cryptopia, most trades are sells and it will be at 9 satoshi soon.  The Chinese exchange that you provided a link to in a previous post isn't functional that I can see.  I am not sure why they decided to add SBC to their altcoin lineup, unless there is some interest in SBC in China.

I bought some SBC back in August of 2013 when 1 BTC was 60 USD.  I saw the price of SBC had fallen to about 1200 satoshi, so I bought it until the price went back up to 2000 satoshi.  I set up a sell wall of 5 BTC, which was widdled down to 400 satoshi in about a week.  No real market plays except people selling off for profit.  My total investment was about 1200 USD.

The big spike in altcoin prices came in November and December of 2013 about the same time as Cryptsy was starting to have problems with BTC withdrawals.  Don't see how anyone can trust cryptocurrency exchanges anymore with all the criminals that are running them.  I hope Big Vern is arrested and gets what is coming to him.

As far as my further investment in SBC.  I just don't know.  Its like kicking a dead horse to get up and run.

I have been sending out transaction with a fee.  I looks like that is the only way for miners to generate a block on the blockchain.  The network hashrate is running at about 1000 Kh/s.  Is that how pools work?  They only generate a block if a transaction with a fee is broadcast on the network?

No a pending transaction doesn't make the chain move, while miners enjoy the fees for the transaction, but they are actually more after the block reward, the tx-fees are just a cream tip on top of the block reward.
That said, the SBC chain was simply stuck for days and started to move again yesterday, coincidentally with your transaction. However the 1000Mh/s are way off, my node shows a diff of 0.59 and a hashrate of 4.5Mh/s.

If your fee was extremly high, I mean in the range of the block reward or parts thereof (say 10-50 SBC), this might have triggered a multipool to mine on SBC because it looked profitable to them when ther suddenly is a much higher reward at same diff.

Title: Re: [SBC] [SCRYPT] StableCoin The Story Continues! Join Our Community Coin Project
Post by: Commentator on July 07, 2016, 05:29:16 PM
What I mean is, I will make transactions during the day with a fee.  When each transaction is broadcast on the network, a block is generated within a minute or less for each transaction.  When I stop doing broadcasting transactions for some hours no blocks are generated.  When I start broadcasting transaction then blocks are generating again.  This can't be coincidence because I have broadcast numerous transactions with fees since the 26th of June.

Since the network had been down since June 12th, I kick started the network by broadcasting transactions with large fees, 100 to 1000 sbc.  Clusters of empty blocks are occasionally generated but not often.  I don't have access to my mining system at this time so haven't been able to generate blocks with it.

Yes, then you are right, when your tx fees are multiples of the block reward that is certainly triggering multipools to mine that block and maybe the next few ones if their diff becomes low enough.

At the current diff you could probably keep the chain moving for much less money with a USB miner or two.

Not sure about this but I think Prohashing mines Stablecoin.  They have a Stablecoin block explorer running.  Since my mining system is not accessible by me at this time, I bought a Gridseed for about $25.  I will set it up in a couple of weeks.  It should keep the blockchain updated.

Afterall, the network hashrate is about 10 Mh/s and as many as 10 nodes connecting to the Stablecoin wallet.  With few blocks being mined, not sure how that is.

I recently bought a gridseed device as I stated in a previous post.  Wanting to mine empty blocks, I have discovered it won't connect to my wallet with CGMiner or BFGMiner.  These two mining applications have no problem connecting to a pool but after several hours of trial and error, I can't solo mine with the gridseed.  Is there some configuration issue or are pools the only mining option when a gridseed is used?

About 20 to 30 seconds.  It appears when using the coin server pool and my miners finds a block, I get the "Stratum connection to pool 0 interrupted" error.  Maybe the pool is taking the block for itself.

about a week ago I set-up an explorer and a pool on my test-network and the block were 30 minutes aprox. my blockcount is 958164, it is weird because the coin is from 2013 at 30 seconds blocks there would be a lot more than 958164, maybe I'm in a fork  :-\

That all looks good to me so far. Maybe you can find any hint in the debug.log in the same folder as your StableCoin.conf.
Also make sure no personal firewall blocks you from accessing the rpcport of the wallet. And maybe check with netstat if the wallet is really listening on that rpcport 17501.

The current block count is 958233.  The blocks should generate in about 10 minute intervals.  I finally got the solo mining setup working.  Its hashing the current block.  Will watch it to find out how much time there is between blocks.

After checking the ports with netstat -a, I found that Prohashing has established a port on my system through the wallet's port 17500.  Not sure why that is.  I am mining using port 17501.

Blockheight is the same here, but at ~0.9 diff it can take some time to pop a block with 250kh/s. Give it at least a few hours before you give up.

I had bought the gridseed to prevent the wallet from going out of sync because the current pools don't seem to be mining empty blocks.  Since it only runs at 7 or 8 watts I will try to keep it running most of the time.

I had bought the gridseed to prevent the wallet from going out of sync because the current pools don't seem to be mining empty blocks.  Since it only runs at 7 or 8 watts I will try to keep it running most of the time.

Its not the empty blocks, its the market-price/diff/reward ratio. At a diff of ~0.9 your 250kh/s need ~4hrs to pop a block when the chain is stuck. In StableCoin the block target is 40s and the diff adjusts every 90 blocks. That is after 90 blocks with a diff of ~0.9 have been mined slower than 40s per block in average, diff will decrease to reach its target with the hash it sees. So expect a good drop in diff once the 90 blocks are over (and expect a lot of multipools to join for the next 90 low-diff blocks)

Now once the diff falls a bit, the above equation of market-price/diff/reward gives a better result (which you also can trigger by giving insanely high fees, that has the same effect on the mentioned ratio as a diff that is lower or a higher market-price). At this time multipools monitoring SBC join in and harvest a few cheap blocks (difficulty-wise cheap) with much more hash than the current diff is adjusted for. This again blows up diff and now the chain is again stuck for 90 blocks

With what you do, you actually keep the chain moving, but it is a very ungrateful task for you, as whenever you worked diff down to a level that you could mine a few blocks with your gear, others come in stealing your fruity blocks.

Adjusting diff only every x blocks is fine for chains/coins with a very high and stable hashrate (i.e. BTC or LTC). For smaller chains, I believe that it is a much better strategy to adjust diff on every or every few blocks.

Haven't mined a block as of now after running the gridseed for a day.  The network hashrate is over 100 Mh/s, which is ok.  The important thing from my standpoint is to keep the chain moving.  Stablecoin should have 1 million blocks mined, soon.

I have been mining for about a week with my little gridseed, mining about 18 blocks and getting bored. The wallet goes out of sync if there is a long pause between block finds.

You are correct about the pools coming in when the diff gets below 1, then abandoning mining Stablecoin waiting for the next opportunity to grab a few cheap blocks when the diff drops again.  Prohashing is the only pool mining this coin from what I can see.  Also, it appears I am the only solo miner on the network.

With the no interest from the dev for this coin and no interest in solo mining, when the blockchain stalls again in the near future, it won't be me to come in and lower the diff for the benefit of a few pools mining this coin.

After starting the wallet a few times I have discovered that the Stablecoin-qt is a clone of Royalcoin-qt because it briefly displays a Royalcoin wallet before changing to a Stablecoin wallet.  This shows careless coding on the devs part.  He didn't clean up all the residuals from the Royalcoin code before releasing the Stablecoin wallet.

Stablecoin is destined for the deadcoin bin.

Hi there, I need to do some maintenance/upgrade on the server, the explorer and the pool will be offline for two days, sorry for the inconvenience. The good news is that now the pool will be 0% fee, I have been doing some test about the problem of the blockchain getting stuck, trying with different hashrates and configurations.
In all the test, with different hashrates in the pool (10M - 20M - 30M) and network difficulty between 0.8 - 1.2 the blocks pop up in a normal way between a minute approx. but after ten block mined the wallet receive 10 block in just two minutes (I guess that is the multipool) and the cycle repeats, over and over. The only way I could get a stable block emission and no 10 "flash block" was with 80M and 1.5 - 1.7 difficult on the network. I couldn't run more test (run out of BTC to rent more hashrate) but that is the main idea, at least in the current scene (diff/hashrate/price), that is why I will set the pool with 0% fee, maybe that can help to improve this situation. If there is something else I can do or a specific request for ports difficult, just let me know.

From what I have read, Prohashing is maintaining a temporary blockchain for each coin that it mines and releases the coins to the real blockchain before a fork occurs.  This is why clusters of blocks suddenly appear.  Not sure what their premise is behind this activity.

From my experience of the few blocks I am able to mine, the blocks I mine don't appear on the block chain until I broadcast a transaction on the network and the next block is mined grabbing the transaction fee.  This usually occurs within 5 to 10 minutes after I have broadcast the transaction fee.  As I stated in a previous post, I am broadcasting transaction at random times.

3Worlduser, so that was you that caused the Stablecoin hashrate to go up to over 100 Mh/s?

Also, the program I wrote that broadcasts a 5 Stablecoin transaction fee is to prevent a stall in the blockchain.  Not sure how long I will run it.

WOW, that idea has been on my mind since the first test because just before the "flash blocks" the daemon prints

Code:
SetBestChain: new best=xxxxxxxxx

From my experience of the few blocks I am able to mine, the blocks I mine don't appear on the block chain until I broadcast a transaction on the network and the next block is mined grabbing the transaction fee.  This usually occurs within 5 to 10 minutes after I have broadcast the transaction fee.  As I stated in a previous post, I am broadcasting transaction at random times.

The next block (the one mined with the additional fee) is mined by yourself or is in the "flash blocks" pack? I have seen the blocks with additional fee and rarely one of them was mined by me.

3Worlduser, so that was you that caused the Stablecoin hashrate to go up to over 100 Mh/s?

Also, the program I wrote that broadcasts a 5 Stablecoin transaction fee is to prevent a stall in the blockchain.  Not sure how long I will run it.

Yes, sorry about that but I wanted to know how much hashrate was needed to avoid the "flash blocks", I didn't test with transactions fees because my first assumption was that higher fees would attract the attention of a multipool, just the opposite of what I was looking for.

The blockchain stalled on June12th and two weeks elapsed with no new blocks appearing.  I decided to make some transactions to get it going again.  My largest TX fee was 1000 Stablecoins.  A multipool grab the block within seconds.  So I wrote a program to send a small amount to another wallet with a 5 Stablecoin TX fee at random intervals.  It seems that 5 Stablecoins is the mininmum for a multipool to mine a block.  Anyway, it keeps the blockchain moving.

I will keep it going for awhile, not sure how long.

In reply to your question about the flash blocks, no.  After I place a transaction fee on the network it is grabbed by a Prohashing miner within about 5 or so minutes.  There doesn't appaer to be any others mining SBC other than Prohashing and occasionally some other miners mine a block.

Sell, Sell, Sell deadcoin.  At least Prohashing won't grabbing my transaction fees, anymore.  Unless there is more network participation Stablecoin is dead.

Thanks for the donation.  There is only 1 node connected to the network and it cuts in and out all the time.  A week or so ago there were up to 10 nodes connected.  Not sure what happened.

Can anyone run a dedicated node on the network?

Can you provide the addnodes.  Maybe I can get a few more connections.  I understand that adding server=1 and listen = 1 to the config file runs the wallet as a node or is it more involved than that?.

addnode=184.185.216.85
addnode=192.99.35.133
addnode=85.236.188.28

listen=1 is probably not needed as it seems to be the default in most coins. But your IP has to be either a public IP or UPnP on your Gateway/Router has to be enabled and working, elsewise you can only connect to other nodes but not receive incoming connections.

If you run getpeerinfo in the console and all your connections have "inbound" : false, then you probably can't receive connections from outside.

How much RAM does that VPS offer?

1024MB is not that much, depending on what processes you have running already. The error message says g++ was killed and I bet that was the OOM. Try to stop all other daemons like webservers and other wallets and give "make" another run then.

With the code changes at Prohashing to only mine the most profitable coins, my program to keep the blockchain moving has slowed considerably to maybe stimulate 1 or 2 blocks an hour.  I am unable to connect any mining gear at this time or in the near future to generate more blocks on the network.

Hi there guys sorry for the delay, I has some personal issues, here is the pool with 0% fees.

https://sbcp.block-genesis.com (https://sbcp.block-genesis.com)

The explorer was always online but it only have 1 connection, you can add it to your .conf with
.
Code:
addnode=172.110.29.94

Velvet78, you also can static compile the daemon in your personal PC (in a virtual machine if you are windows user) and then upload it to you VPS.

Code:
make -f makefile.unix STATIC=1

Commentator, thanks for all your answers, I'll send some SBC for your efforts.

Happy mining.

I have been sending transaction fees of about 23.35 SBC.  About 6 per hour since June as a reward for pool mining.  It has stimulated the generation of about 14,000 blocks.  I will need to shut it down tomorrow morning until I get setup under a new network.  Don't send anymore donations until I start up again.  If the blockchain stalls, you know the reason.

If 3worlduser's pool dedicates hashpower to SBC, the blockchain should be just fine.  3worlduser should get more blocks since Prohashing won't mine SBC unless there is a high transaction fee on the network.  I will work on getting the transaction fee reward system back up.

I am considering maintaining an inventory of .999 silver 1 gram, 10 gram and 1 oz. ingots with custom engraving and trading them for Stablecoins.  I wonder if this is feasible because Stablecoin holders with millions of Stablecoin in their possession could deplete my inventory, quickly.  Also, I would be trading at a loss.  The only way the price will change is if the Stablecoins are bought on an exchange.

Cryptopia only has a few million coins for trade.  The other over 20 million Stablcoins are being horded.  Possibly I could limit the orders from individual traders.

maybe start with the smaller ingots and put them on topia's marketplace? and yes, a limit on the amount that one can buy would be the best way imho. gl

hmm i see sbc is in maintenance on cryptopia because they have 0 connections too :/

https://sbce.block-genesis.com/network shows 3 nodes so maybe add those to your .conf file

also found a node here https://prohashing.com/explorer/Stablecoin/

last mined block is a few days old tho...

edit: fired up my wallet and have 2 connections now (after adding the nodes to the .conf file)
also sent a support ticket to cryptopia to notify them

Prohashing was mining it up until the first week of March then Cryptopia closed the wallet for maintenance.  I could put 5MH/s to it but it will take me some time to setup.  Maybe I should mine through the pool on Genesis or solo.  I need to convert the hardware I have to USA standards.  240v to 120v.  Nova exchange has a working wallet, doesn't  it?

P.S.: Novaexchange works fine for SBC, I stopped using Cryptopia whenever possible as too many wallets there are not connected or in maintenance.

Polish version will follow:
                  Stable Coin

               Nowy horyzont kryptowaluty

Krok 3)

Zdobywanie kupców, aby zbierać monety i zwykłych ludzi do korzystania z nich.

Mając nawet 10 osób z dostępem do wielu tysięcy komórek bloków kryptowaluty.

Dlatego weż swój udział! Kup kilka monet, Kop monety jak wściekły i dołącz do nowej rewolucji, dając sobie nowy kierunek (stabilnej monety) godnego życia.

SPECYFIKACJE:

Nagroda za blok to 25 monet za bloczek, z czasem docelowym bloku równych 40 sekund. Trudność zostanie przeliczona co 90 bloków. W sumie 145 milionów monet zostanie wybitych, a co najmniej w przeciągu 3 lat i 7 miesięcy będzie spadać o połowę. Port P2P to 17500. Jeśli masz problemy z połączeniem do portu to odblokuj zapore ogniową na dany port

SPECS:

Block reward is 25 coins per block, with a block target time of 40 seconds. Difficulty will be recalculated every 90 blocks. A total of 145 million coins will be minted, with block reward halving every ~3.7 years. P2P Port is 17500. If you have issues connecting to the network, forward this port.
RPC Port is 17501. This is the port you will point your miner at when solo mining.

Mined blocks will mature after 35 blocks.

Block 0-90        0 coins
Block 90-180     1 coins
Block 180-270   2 coins
Block 270-360   3 coins

If you can create the hybrid without causing a fork, I am all for it.

If you can create the hybrid without causing a fork, I am all for it.

i will need to outsource that but still something i would like to look into at a later stage. Ive been rethinking crypto in general and especially after all the increased activity... Anyway you look at it,
"First block 2013-06-07 16:02:02" so this coin is a classic. The dev didnt live up to his promises but still left us a decent working stable coin. A coin thats almost 4 years old with a supply around 30M only should be worth more that what it is now. The thing is that nobody from the older crypto generation (besides a few of you in here) is interested in sbc anymore. prolly still have a bitter taste in their mouth if they even think about it.

But what about the new people in crypto that never heard about this coin before? crypto is going viral worldwide and this coin has lots of potential even only for speculation. it was almost 2 years ago when i posted this thread. ive met some great people from all over the world since then and i think its very possible to slowly start promoting sbc all over the world and cause a natural growth that way.

also, did you see how empty the sell side on the exchanges is? hard to get new people into sbc if they cant buy a decent amount of coins. the block-explorer should be ready soon but im quite sure that the supply didnt go up more than a few million since the last time i checked it.

all im trying to say is that sbc should be an easy sell and i'll try to sell it in as many countries as possible by creating local groups who will have the responsibility to promote crypto and sbc in particular in their areas. I talk to new people everyday and they all seem very interested so far and willing to help by doing their part. Im talking with small merchants who are willing to put their items for sale in return for sbc, nothing exclusive but its a start. i also asked to get sbc listed on another exchange so we can reach more people. more translations are coming too. more people getting on the team. i see a stable future ahead for stablecoin. $1/SBC in 3 years is my prediction. Lets see if we can reach $0.01 first.

How many SBC for a pizza? 10k? sounds familiar?

;)

thank you. glad to see someone sees some potential in SBC. I like to call SBC a she too lol. my crypto love at first sight back in the cryptsy days  :D

https://chainz.cryptoid.info/sbc/ is synching up. i like that explorer service because it has some advanced features. ANN will be rewritten, Giveaways are being planned and promotions on several social media. i need to get back to the guy that wanted to help with the website but i already have a domain and hosting. also requested a paperwallet generator which might make it a bit easier to gift ppl some coins without having them install the wallet.

which brings me to the next point. to make it easier for anyone outside of crypto to get into sbc and maybe even hold some it would be nice to have a mobile wallet. especially for android since that has a much bigger reach globally. i have to do some more digging but i think there is also an option to have a mobile wallet that doesnt need to download the chain on the phone. its a bit pricey though so maybe some of the early crypto guys would like to chip in at some point since im on a shoestring budget currently. or maybe we can do some kind of crowdfunding. There´s a bday party coming up soon  ;)

yes, i know where to find you :)

https://chainz.cryptoid.info/sbc/ is finally synched up. Supply is a little over 30M. I see a couple of active addresses. distribution looks decent. im waiting to get the customized paperwallet but i checked http://cryptolife.net/upwg/ and it works if you select Decimal Version 125. for safety reasons it would likely be better to have a self-hosted version and an offline version too.

glad to hear that :)

does it remind you of the good ol' days? i missed that period, got into crypto end of '14, but sure feels cool to see blocks popping up on your screen haha.

the pool pays out every 10mins btw, so maybe you want to point your miner at it to get some more coins? have fun

With mining pools making constant sell trades to exchange SBC for BTC, LTC and the like, it will be difficult to maintain a price increase.  A market for SBC would be very beneficial, such as trading SBC for real goods.  I am currently working on a plan to begin a market but still need more time.  Also, without any other trading platforms being pursued it may not last long.  I suspect that many old timers who are holding will trade in their SBC and move on.  So be it.  I will still make an effort to get this coin moving up.

awesome! i placed the first bid. shouldnt be too hard to top hehe. just in case i win, its free international shipping right?

Both national and international shipping are free.  Sorry to say but the reserve is 12,500 SBC, which is the minimum bid that I will trade the ingot for.  I have already reduced the reserve from 17,500 SBC to 12,500 SBC.  I had considered 1 gram ingots but they are too small.  The postage would be 20 to 30 times the value of the 1 gram ingot in USD.  I will be doing auctions for the 1 ounce ingots for 5 or 6 months.  Each auction last two weeks, depends on how long my inventory lasts.  After that, not sure, still planning.  Maybe a web store or something.

If you know any forums or media sources, get the word out.  It will help in increasing trade activity on the exchange.

do you have more of these? and you wouldnt lose any money if i buy it at 12.5k? i would love to buy something precious with my SBC but dont want you to take a loss for it.

Yes I have more than one.  I am doing this to promote SBC.  I wouldn't call it a loss, nothing to base it on.  If it is based on BTC then yes I will be trading at a loss.

If you submit a winning bid, all I ask is for positive seller feed back.

Any chance of getting Stablecoin (SBC) listed on Poloniex and/or Bittrex?  If they have a Marketplace like Cryptopia then I could list more than one Ag for SBC auction at a time.

I just noticed a banner on the Cryptopia exchange page for Stablecoin, that delisting was planned back in June and closed the market, today.  Is this coin finished as anything but useless data?  They say there are issues with the wallet.  It has only 1 node connected with over 150 Mhashes/sec.  I don't see a problem with it.

Nova Exchange is an alternative but doesn't have a Marketplace feature.  Would be great if Stablecoin had an active development team.

Hey, I am trying to sync my old wallet. Unfortunately no connections. You guys got any ideas how to get this working?

Also we are still on the same block chain as the old wallet?

I think SBC died after Nova stopped accepting deposits.  We may have been the last pool still mining it but the wallet is no longer active.

Sounds like time to start mining :3

Do you guys know how to decide how many threads to solo mine? I see its default is 99 threads. I have a Threadripper CPU and am unsure how many threads it can handle, thought only 8 or 16.

Prohashing was the last active node to the wallet.  I think they have delisted Stablecoin.  Don't think this coin has in hope for the future without any active nodes for wallet synchs.  With new management coming on with Novaexchange not sure if they will include Stablecoin in their altcoin line up.  They are actively delisting dead coins and with no way to synch the wallet, probably Stablecoin, also.

If you want to create an active node, just add the -server directive to your config file and post the IP address and port to the forum.

Agree, SBC definitely needs more active nodes.
For now I have these nodes that you can add to your StableCoin.conf file:
addnode=83.50.38.144
addnode=213.32.6.132
addnode=23.233.12.184
addnode=125.121.111.103
addnode=71.168.230.74
addnode=83.51.7.146
addnode=80.141.43.212
addnode=208.54.40.228
addnode=46.101.126.142
addnode=130.225.93.173

Has there been a fork?  Can't sync passed Jan 30.

I believe that's the date of the last block mined. Nobody mines it so the chain stopped.

If that is the last transaction why didn't my wallet sync to the network?  Is there something wrong on my end?

There is one connection to the network.  A previous poster added a new node recently.

There is one connection to the network.  A previous poster added a new node recently.

You can add these three nodes as well:

  • addnode=67.211.210.20:17500
    addnode=91.206.16.214:17500
    addnode=64.20.63.133:17500

The chain should be running now. But I'm not planning to keep it running. You gotta mine yourself. I believe the clien allows to solo mine.

Thanks.  I don't plan to do any mining of this coin for another 3 or 4 weeks.  Why can you sync up and I can't.  Mine synced for a day or so then went out of sync, again because I wasn't mining it.  Haven't mined this coin in about 3 or 4 years.

Not sure if it is worth allocating 10KH/s or so.

No, mine also goes out of sync when the mining stops. And syncs back when I mine again. I just don't see any point at mining it anymore. No devs, no exchange. Why waste hashpower on it?

I still have an interest in this coin.  Seems to be running rock solid with ccminer.  Its surprising that a few users have setup nodes to keep it alive.  I continue to see rumors here and there that Stablecoin will make a comeback but how I don't know.  Maybe an exchange will pick it up.

The only altcoin exchange that listed SBC in the past and hasn't closed is Nova Exchange.  Not sure if they will ever relist Stablecoin. They seem to have trimmed down considerably with their new management.

Prohashing listed SBC until about 2015 or 2016.

The Qt software was updated in 2016 but I am still running Artos's 1.5 version released in 2013.  Don't see any reason for any devs, the software seems solid.  Who would be running the nodes?

I noticed over a year of transactions are missing from my wallet.  That was the time Stablecoin was on Cryptopia.  All Cryptopia transaction are missing.  I have several other wallets I can check.  Not sure why my current wallet doesn't show any transactions during the Cryptopia period.  My current wallet goes all the way back to 2013.

1. I wonder where you hear thses rumors? Maybe they are talking about some other stablecoin? :)
2. Nova Exchange has closed its doors long time ago unfortunately.
3. Can you post a link to updated 2016 client? I only know about the old 2013 version.

Use at own risk, it maybe corrupted.  Posted by Velvet78 and his team.

NEW Windows Wallet made by Noise23 Dev of Truckcoin (no more messy dll files):

http://downloads.truckcoin.net/misc/stablecoin-qt.zip
or
https://github.com/noise23/stablecoin

I personally only trust 2013 version 1.5 by the original dev team.

I believe I meant Cryptopia.  They were claimed to have been hacked, then closed business.  Can't get my SBC from them.

I mined it for about 10,000 blocks in February and March.  I see one node active.  No-one else is mining it.  So, what are you complaining about if you are not mining it?  Will probably mine some more after I setup my system, again in a few days.

Why bother though? There are no devs, no exchanges and no community. Maybe it's time to let it go?  :'(

Might have been just for fun.  Not anymore though.  Two nodes connected to the wallet.  The network is messed up.  I can only mine 1 block an hour if the nodes don't drop out or maybe the problem is on my end.  I should be mining a block every minute since I am the only one mining it.  I have to admit, I am done with SBC and the rest of this digital currency crap.  C'est la vie.

Hey,

so I just found my old wallet and am willing for retarded reasons to run a node (learning from the beggining how these things worked back in the day)

Can someone tell me how to get started?

I have the old client v1.5.0.0-g3aaa7ba-beta.
Entered the wallet.dat

It read it so all fine, also saved my keys just in case.

How do I go about creating a node now and syncing this.

Feel free to dm me I have telegram, discord and would be thankful for any help

lol I remember this shit.  still have my wallet somewhere.  classic early adopter con.  well played.

it was a great idea for the time tbh, look at all the (mostly) legit stablecoins now.
