In order to collect more money for the creation of good forum software, the forum is selling ad space in the area beneath the first post of every topic page.

Ads this week will be allowed to contain any non-annoying HTML/CSS style. No images, JavaScript, or animation (no marquee or blinking). Ads must appear 3 or fewer lines tall in my browser. Ads will be prefixed with "Advertisement:". Ad text may not contain lies, misrepresentation, or inappropriate language. Ads may not link directly to any NSFW page. Ads may be rejected for other reasons.

There are 10 total ad slots which are randomly rotated. So one ad slot has a one in ten chance of appearing. Eight of the slots are for sale here. Ads appear only on topic pages with more than one post, and only for people using the default theme.

The ad lasts 7 days starting from when I put it up.

Auction rules

Post your bids in this thread. Prices must be stated in BTC per slot. You must state the max number of slots you want. When the auction ends, the highest bidders will have their slots filled until all eight slots are filled.

So if someone bids for 8 slots @ 5 BTC and this is the highest bid, then he'll get all 8 slots. If the two highest bids are 8 slots @ 4 BTC and 1 slot @ 5 BTC, then the first person will get 7 slots and the second person will get 1 slot.

- When you post a bid, the bids in your previous posts are considered to be automatically canceled. You can put multiple bids in one post, however.
- All bid prices must be evenly divisible by 0.25.
- The bidding starts at 0.5.
- The auction end time is 17:00:00 on October 14, UTC. Countdown (http://free.timeanddate.com/countdown/i2u518av/cf12/cm0/cu4/ct0/cs0/ca2/co0/cr0/ss0/cac000/cpc000/pcfff/tcfff/fs100/szw448/szh189/iso2012-10-14T17:00:00). (The end time may be extended -- see below.)
- If two people bid at the same price, the person who bid first will have his slots filled first.
- Bids are considered invalid and will be ignored if they do not specify both a price and a max quantity, or if they could not possibly win any slots

If any valid bids occur less than 30 minutes before the auction end time, then the auction will be extended by 30 minutes. If any valid bids occur less than 30 minutes before the new end time, then the auction will be extended again, etc. The time will not extend beyond 6 hours total.

You must pay for your slots within 24 hours of receiving the payment address. Otherwise your slots may be sold to someone else.

(Round 53 will be only ~4 days long. The top 10 bidders in round 52 will get slots there.)

Thank you wm-center for not trying to monopolize all 8 slots. It's really a telling trait of any business that claims to care about this community but at the same time attempts to monopolize all 8 slots of advertising space, thus making it absolutely impossible for  any of the smaller start-ups to even dream of getting a spot.

Although I know this would never happen because the idea of this auction is to make the most money for the forum as possible but I would totally be in support of only allowing 1 slot per business. Even if the higher income business had to pay more for their slots, than the lower income start-ups - I would happily do this just to make things fair at least somewhat fair again.

I agree, I am trying to start something out of my own pocket and I can not pay these prices, it's giving big business the advantage while squeezing out the little guys.

Nope everytime someone bids it goes up 30 mins untill 6 hours when it stops....

The last bid was 45 mins ago and we are past the original end time , I thought that meant the auction was closed.

The prices just got wayy too high.

Yep for small business, A business that takes in 1 mill can sure outbid us small folks and not think twice.....

This was the last valid bid and it took place 40 mins before the auction ended.  The next bid was made 28 mins after the auction ended. According to the rules this auction was never extended.

Excuse me wm-center won 4 slots at 4.25 btc not 4.5 but I was correct about everything else no one bid in the last 30 mins of this auction and therefore it was never extended and ended on time.
