Title: [2015-08-22] Let’s merge BIP101 into Core
Post by: alani123 on August 23, 2015, 07:05:37 AM
This is a re-post of an email I sent to the bitcoin developer's mailing list a few days ago. For the record, I feel the best way forward is to merge BIP101 into bitcoin core. I hope you agree. —Will

I don't agree with BIP 101. Doubling block size every two years is not good IMHO. If there is any other ideas, we can look further into it. But what Gavin is suggested does not look good.

Something like https://bitcointalk.org/?topic=1154536' is better.

Well, the worst you can say about BIP 101 and it's two-yearly doubling from 8MB is that it only might work. I still think that's not good enough!

Said it before, I will say it again: dynamic resizing. This should shut everyone up, because if 8 MB, 20 MB or even the 8 gigabyte limit where BIP 101 tops out, if any of those are the "right" blocksize, then it will happen irrespective of what your opinion is. Unfortunately saying "should" isn't necessarily good enough either, but I think it can be done.
