Title: Send letters with Bitcoin
Post by: Anonymailer on October 14, 2012, 12:38:28 PM
Hi all,

I'm starting a new service whereby I'll post a letter (up to 2 sides of A4 paper) on your behalf from the UK to anywhere in the world. This can be anonymous, or not, depending on your preference. If you provide an email address you will receive confirmation and a tracking address for your letter. Why not give it a shot?

Let me know if you have any questions or feedback!

-John

Our first anonymous order has come through already! Many thanks for your purchase, if you're reading, obviously without an email address I can't send you a confirmation but your letter will go out tomorrow morning and royal mail say it should be with the recipient in 5 days.

Good job. Always happy when I see new services popping up that use bitcoin.

Ditto.

A little more information on your site might be nice. I didn't want to initiate a purchase just to find out exactly how this worked. Do I upload the letter or type it?

You're right, I should add a few sections, the way it works at the moment you're forwarded to a form to type or paste your letter in - I should probably add support for uploading PDF etc. as well, thanks for the suggestions edd! I'll get cracking on that.

A new FAQ page has now been added at http://anonymailer.shop.tm/FAQ (http://anonymailer.shop.tm/FAQ)
And support for uploading PDF, doc, txt and rtf letters has been added to the form.

Any other suggestions are welcome!

Hi,
how about a price list?

What if I wanted to send a card (e.g. birthday) from the UK to the uk?
So a card would cost £2-£3 (I would tell you what kind of card), a stamp is 50p.
What would you charge to send this anonymously?

Thanks

Thanks for the suggestions! Cards should certainly find their way on to the site…

A price list might be an idea, I wanted to keep things fairly simple for now though which is why there are only the two product options.

Branded cards might be an issue in that I don't want to have to keep a lot of stock around that would go unused, and I think it would be hard to find precise cards people are looking for in my closest post office, however if you uploaded your card as a 2-page PDF it could be printed for you on 220gsm canvas-coated card and you'd get a custom one? I might actually design a few standard ones people could choose from as well…

I'm sending all post out recorded for now at least, the idea of not having proof of delivery is a concern for me - I think I need to be able to prove I've sent out the letter in case it doesn't arrive or gets delivered to a neighbour etc.

I'd happily send your custom card anonymously on the 'UK Letter' option for 1.5BTC and I'll add the options to the form pretty soon too!

Now updated to have prices stay linked to GBP rather than BTC in light of the recent rather large fluctuation in value.

Get that mail out now while it's high!  ;)

(Also, you now have the option to upload your letter as a PDF/text file as well as enter it as text, as suggested)
