Title: Question About PPCOIN
Post by: c4n10 on October 16, 2012, 06:54:17 PM
Can someone tell me how long it will take me to solo mine a PPC block at 450 MH/s and what is the mining reward per PPC block...? I have searched for answers on both of these and can't find any clear answers anywhere. Thank you in advance.

current difficulty is 9809.3 so according to the calculator @ http://allchains.info/calc.html it would take approximately 26 hours on average to find a block.

You'd also have to wait for 520 confirmations

Yes, this works. Just replace PPC difficulty in the BTC calculator. This will give you approx time to mine a block.

If you want to get an idea of what a POW block is worth, just use PPCexplore.org and look at the last few POW blocks minted. This will give a general idea of what a POW block is worth in the general range of current difficulty.

The exact formula : mint = 9999 / (difficulty ** 0.25)

Thank you for the answers guys, I really appreciate it.

Last question, opinion-based, since my expected payout solo mining would be pretty much the same as what I am getting solo mining, should I solo mine for the opportunity to benefit from finding more blocks if I am lucky or should I continue pool mining for the safety net of having a steady rate of incoming coins when my time to find a block might run longer than the expected...?

Is there somewhere that I can see the total hashrate for the ppcoin blockchain and see what percentage of the hashrate I make up?

Thank you again.

I am not aware of a site that directly calculates that information.

However Andy does run a site with PPC charting for various attributes of PPC.

http://www.proofofstake.com

I will look into it a bit for the web PPC explorer, as it would be useful information for the local explorer in the PPC GUI I am currently starting.

Very useful link, thank you very much for that!

Hopefully more exchanges will begin offering trade support for PPC, but I'm doing pretty well with bitparking for right now.
