The avg reddit user is a nerd and might already know of bitcoin.
The average megaupload user does not.

Now take 10 million unique newbies daily with a 0.01% chance that they will read "Bitcoin" on the Dotcom's website.

Now, that is HUGE!

If the company "accepts Bitcoin" for payment it won't add a lot of real value to the economy (just a lot of speculative value) - however if they actually use the Bitcoin income (e.g. to pay for the servers, development, etc.) instead of converting back to fiat it would probably add much more.

IMO, the only thing we have to do is to spread the word.

The word is that you can buy things online with bitcoin. It's safe and easy. It's the Internet concurrency made from the Internet for the Internet.

So you're telling everyone to use a currency and all you contribute is "spreading the word" and hoarding them? That's not real value you're adding, it's speculative value……(building a bubble...."get rich quick")

The biggest thing people don't realize is that 1) there are advantage using bitcoin 2) its not a scam, you can really buy things online using it.

Having a website visited by 10m people daily accepting bitcoin a would be a fantastic way of spreading this concept.

Once this concept spread, the rest will come by itself.

People are hungry of the financial system as of now.

Of course you can really buy things online using it, but do you remember the $30 bubble? People spread the word and crashed it.


And then this service cashes out in USD and the value is pretty much the same (maybe a few bucks more)…

Maybe you are right about it not bringing the value up 10x. Guess what, i really don't care. Yea, i cheated, the title is to bring in as many people as possible because i really believe in this thing.

I cannot understand your point, imagine megaupload starting to accept bitcoins. Imagine 1000 users daily that are introduced to the idea and 500 that pays with bitcoins.

Now imagine that 10 other similar website copy megaupload and allows the users to pay via btc, because hey, it's a great idea to let people pay without the fees of cc!

6 months and bitcoin would become popular among people who practice file sharing.

It would become established among this niche and prove itself useful.

How long before it bearch out this niche and spread to other sectors? How long till an amazon competitor start accepting it?

Now to make it reality how do we convince Kimble to accept bitcoin on his services?

He already retweeted Bitcoin when he asked for ideas for payment processors other then VISA/MASTER/PP, so he at least knows it and took an interest in it.

None of this will help until there is an easy way of buying bitcoins relatively instantly.

This whole concept of having to wire money across the globe and wait days for funds to clear is a major obstacle.

I think the future of bitcoin lies in thousands of local exchanges across the world that then deal with the large exchanges like mtgox directly.

If he accepted litecoin anyway, I would try to follow the ride and speculate myself too.

Convince thepiratebay to implement for-pay private trackers where seeders get paid a cut. (All in bitcoin, obviously)
