Title: Freight forwarding for bitcoins.
Post by: Bitcoin Oz on October 22, 2012, 10:10:18 PM
Sometimes people want to order things from Amazon or other US companies because a product might not be released in your own country months afterwards if at all and we need to resort to freight forwarders such as http://www.shipito.com/ (http://www.shipito.com/)

Considering bitcoin is a worldwide currency there might be a niche business in ordering products to your local address then forwarding them on to international customers.

I think that's a great idea. Look at this for example: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=119152.0

a small site, where you can create an account with "I can offer goods from [country]" could do the trick.

You can then for the customers make an overview of countries and witch merchants are there, including merchant rating and more informations.

It can then increase and further develop from this point.

Interested in further develop this idea if someone wants to create such a service.

Based on the shipitto website, their fee for accepting international credit cards is 4.3%. By contrast bitpay charges about 3%, so there is a savings.
Chargeback risk is probably substantial, generating additional savings.

I would say that this is a good proposition. Perhaps someone who uses shipitto can email them to suggest adding bitpay as a payment option?
