Title: Gauging interest in secure laptops
Post by: Nyx2011 on October 15, 2015, 09:06:35 PM
Hi I refurbish and sell used laptops! All of my laptops come with either tails or kali Linux OS (depending on the buyers preferance)

You might be asking yourself "What makes these laptops secure, and why should I buy them from you?"

The laptops I sell are all purchased with cash, there is no way to tie the sale of these laptops to the people who buy them from me. I do not keep a record of sales, and I do not keep a record of shipping info.  Due to the fact I keep neither of these records it would be almost impossible for anyone to know who had purchased the laptop.

The secure laptops are called that due to the fact they come preloaded with tails, or kali linux, and the tor browser. While this alone won't make your laptop 100% secure following basic steps and precautions will allow you to stay anonymous on the internet.

If there is enough interest in these laptops I will list what I have in stock, and the prices.

Obviously escrow is accepted and prefered btw!

I'm also looking for a partner to help me out. If your interested feel free to send me a PM with what you think you can bring to the table.

Maybe... For the right price that is, what are you looking to get and have in stock right now?

I don't know off hand what I have in stock I'll make a list when I go to the shop tomorrow.  Off hand I know i have a bunch of older models like a gateway solo 5350, these are around $115 each, come with a battery (life can vary) and charger.

Good luck with your new venture but those looking for a hardened laptop can always go to a discount outlet, pay in cash and install a linux distro with full disk encryption themselves.

This site is full of mostly technical people.   So loading it for them really is not going to add a lot of value to laptops.   I know you asked about these in  beginners.  And it's true what I quoted most can load a OS on this site.

What you have to do is have cheaper price then going rate.   I don't think you have done this yet. and honestly its not easy to do.  But I think that is key to your profits.

Well this isn't exactly a new venture, I sell these types of laptops locally. A regular customer mentioned this site and that I should start accepting bitcoins for the PCs. If no one here is really interested in buying them its fine, but I'm not going to lower my rates when I don't have a problem selling them like this in my shop, ya know?

Anything that has a Intel chipset means your computer is insecure due to them adding backdoors in the processors which even when your computer is off they can access your information.

You're absolutely correct however those are just the cheap models I knew of off hand that I listed.

May be worth you pre-installing bitcoincore wallet.

Would save people a 50+ gig blockchain download that may be attractive (they can just remove the wallet.dat to generate a new one for security)

So you bought a laptop and then installed some Tor browser and Linux ?
No offense, i think that can be easily done with the help of google alone
Unless, you developed some kind of security chip or even your own secure OS
That would be interesting ;)
Make the price maybe around $100 and people would be interested in it ::)

I sell these outside of these forums no issue. Like I said before in my earlier post, if no one here wants them at that price then you can make them yourselves.
