Well, I am up and running now! I did shutdown my unit last night because the units fan was LOUD! I want to make sure I am running this safe and have proper cooling! I have a extra room in the grudge that is air conditioned but I would need to connect the S5 via Wi-Fi. Any tips? If it is air conditioned just monitor it after. One miner should not be bad since you have AC. One thing I might warn if you grow using AC to cool devices is high as far as what it costs. Using evaporation cooling, or lots of CFM are cheaper over time. And winter is coming up for many and free cool air. So keep those in mind. If it's nice and cool those fans don't need to be running on beast mode ;D Today i tried something new, i stripped 2 S1 fans and put it on the S5, i was able to lower fan RPM from 2560 to 2160 + drop the temp by 6c. The noise/cooling performance is unreal compared to a single fan. Now the only thing i can hear is my S4 that seem stuck at 2520 RPM atm. I did this mainly with a big gable upgrade - http://www.homedepot.com/p/QuietCool-Professional-3013-CFM-Power-Gable-Mount-Attic-Fan-AFG-PRO-3-0/206047381 . And with this some vents in ceiling. But all that got me through summer mining which originally did not think I could do. So very happy in the end. I will enjoy the free winter air to save a few bucks coming up. Correct you would need an area just for mining. With that many CFM the fan's are louder then the machines. But it really does push a LOT of air. It was kinda a lot of testing and trial/error to get it to work great. But it eventually worked great for a mining area. The exhaust I was hoping to use old, but it just did not keep up. It took a pretty big upgrade on exhaust for it to handle pushing all that air out. It took a pretty big upgrade on exhaust for it to handle pushing all that air out. I might try to setup a small warehouse in the future if i can get funding. I know someone who might be interested in starting up something small in maybe sometime 2016, with the hydro electricity, even the lowest industrial class electricity would be 0.03-0.04$/kWh. But i'll really need something small yet dense to get industrial contract for electricity and figure out how to keep the temps safe to cool the place. Burning the place down is probably not good on ROI. But for now, i'm sticking to my apartment's free-ish electricity. |
