Title: Hurricane Sandy
Post by: Liberty Payout on October 29, 2012, 05:57:05 PM
I live in Philadelphia right where it's expected to hit. Me and my church group, if I can convince them, are planning on buying supplies and going door to door and offering them out during the aftermath.

Thanks and pray for us over here in the East Coast.

I hope everything turned out okay for you...I'm also on the East Coast (right near Washington D.C. and Baltimore) but we weren't hit that hard...just strong winds and lots of rain here. My cousins live in New Jersey and are still without power and now they are on "Gas Rations"

Everything was fine down here, I advice you guys make donations via Red Cross. New Jersey and New York got it very bad, and many families were displaced. If you have food or clothing you can spare please look into how you can send those over. I've recently spoken to my church and some service centers around my city and we're already planning on heading down sometime soon to assist with the reconstruction. Most importantly, keep these people in your prayers. I'm thankful not to have been affected.

I advise you to investigate Red Cross before sending them a penny.

Ask an old-timer how they charged U.S. soldiers for coffee during the Korean War.  Investigate what percentage of funds actually made it to poor people after the 2010 earthquake in Hati or the Indonesian tsunami in 2004.

Sign up for a free account at http://www.guidestar.org and read the Red Cross financials, specifically their IRS 990.

Also on GuideStar you can find a *local* charitable organization that is ten times more honest than Red Cross, Inc.
