If someone were to use blockchain.info in the past, and then access their wallet through another service and stop using blockchain.info, are they at the same risk to hackers as those actively using bc.i?

No.. According to me most probably hackers only try to hack blockchain accounts Since it was / is easy to hack blockchain account (If not secured properly ) than any other services )
Hope i was helpful )

Technically no. If the user deletes the private key, it doesn't show when the user logins anymore. Hence, it is erased client side. I haven't found any evidence if they keep the keys even when user deletes it but I'll assume they do.

If blockchain.info gets affected by the weak RNG again, the user's private key could get exposed even if wallet service is changed and the address could get hacked.

The only way to prevent hackers gain access to your wallet is to avoid storing much coins in a web wallet. If people really wants a secure account, use a paper wallet or something. I've seen how vulnerable blockchain wallet is.

I've been using blockchain wallet for months now and i believe they are secure enough. I just don't know if for instance you got about enough btc inside your account and that if one determined thief will purposely try to jack the account.

are their server secure by the way? what if someone with intention will actually get into thier physical server.

Well, I have a few crafty friends that come over to my house a lot, and maybe someone else with the same situation (not me) who gets their browser to save their username+passwords, can easily just login into your account. But I trust my friends, but also as an extra security measure, I use Incognito mode on my Chrome.

Just a question, does anyone else use Incognito when making a transaction?

If I'm not wrong, the wallet backup on their server is encrypted. Hence, only weak password can be cracked assuming their encryption is strong enough. However, te attacker could include a script which captures the password on the login page too. It doesn't offer too much of a security IMO.

Oh yeah it would just be another better way to keep your account safe.
However , Blockchain has default feature that it will automatically log you out if u dont do anything on it for 5 minutes..
You can change or see the settings in your blockchain security settings )

Always try to check site's name before enter blockchain site since there are many black site that will copied blockchain's interface 100 % precisely.
If you're using public internet, Better use private window browser (example : igcognito on chrome browser ) to prevent browser save the cookies etc

I like the way blockchain.info works but online wallets do make me very nervous. Thanks for all this info.

How do phone wallets like Mycelium compare for security? Is it easy for others to gain control of them remotely?

Mycellium is very neat application but you shouldn't be holding very high amounts on it either. I mean it's a phone that you can lose, etc. And mycelium is validating transactions in a different way than Electrum, Core, Multibit, so people are not suggesting storing huge amounts.

Make sure you PC is clean from viruses and malware and use Electrum or Multibit and you will be just fine.

Blockchain.info is definitely much worst than any wallets out there, online or not.

AFAIK, both of them are pretty much the same, using a central server to validate transactions. If they are down, transactions can't be sent. It also opens itself to sybil attacks by the provider or expose the user to double spending attempts.

better use sms verification (like at coinbase) than you instal authy  (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.authy.authy&hl=in) or authentichator (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.authenticator2)

Follow these steps to prevent your blockchain account from getting hacked:
1. First of all, verify your email address to recover your account in case your account gets hacked or you forget your password.
2. Add your phone number in your account settings for extra security.
3. Add an extra password for transactions. It can help you and prevent the hackers from spending your funds in case they get access to your account.
4. Always keep your notifications switched on , either/both by email and/or SMS so that you can track record of any changes made to your account !
5. Use 2 Factor Authorization .
6. Save and encrypt a copy of your private key or backup file. You can encrypt it using one of the software listed Here (http://lifehacker.com/five-best-file-encryption-tools-5677725?utm_expid=66866090-62.YkETBcIMTk2uX1oytHipyg.0&utm_referrer=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.sk%2F)
7. Do not download software you do not trust on your computer.
8. Make sure you have an anti-virus software running, and keep it up-to-date
9. Write down your backup seed that blockchain provides when you sign-up for the wallet, do not copy it without encryption in a txt or such files.
10. Do not fall into phishing scams, an example of this is : People on social networks (Facebook, Twitter, Weibo, etc) claiming to be BlockChain. They setup pages with blockchain-like logos, then spread “promotion campaigns” that require users to give their private information (such as account mnemonic) to participate. As soon as they have this information, they sweep the funds away. Blockchain never asks for private information like mnemonic , backup file , private key and such .
Following these steps will prevent your account from being too vulnerable, but if you want your funds to be secure never use web-wallets for amounts over 0.1 BTC. Use either Electrum  (https://electrum.org/#home) or MultiBit (https://multibit.org/) or if you want extra security for cold storage, use  Armory  (https://bitcoinarmory.com/).

SMS verification is part of 2 Factor Authorization, so you don't have to mention it anymore.
Email verification & Google Authenticator is also part of 2 Factor Authorization too.
I would go for authy before google authenticator. Authy allows users to restore their key if they lose the phone. Just need the phone number or email. It also have the backup feature. It's much harder to lose it this way.
