Just curious if most of these meetups would be made up of people who also speak English.

Considering the intelligence level of Bitcoiners I would think so, just asking. I'd like to check out the Frankfurt meetup.

I have been to a meetup in Frankfurt back in September since I live in a town near to the city. There were only a handful people. Everyone spoke German, so there was no need for speaking English.

Dutch city Arnhem is close to the German border (+/- 1 hour from Kleve) and happens to be the most Bitcoin-friendly city in the world :)
monthly meetups there: http://www.arnhembitcoinstad.nl

I tried to attend a meetup once in Köln using meetup.com

Oh god, that was a biiig mistake on my behalf.

First off, they barely talked about bitcoin and more about blockchain startups etc.

IDK... they all spoke in German, and I could only understand just bits and pieces of it.

Are there any bigger crypto events in northern Germany at the end of October (Hamburg or Berlin)... Preferably in English?

We are pretty active, we do regular get-togethers (Stammtisch) as well as events with talks, presentations or workshops. Last week we had Peter Todd. :)

We may do "blockchain" sometimes but we're surely faithful to the roots. Our core community members are long-time bitcoiners.
