Title: what can i do with a Raspberrypi ?
Post by: calkob on November 18, 2015, 12:13:04 AM
Hi all

I have been a follower of Bitcoin since 2011 and a buyer since 2013.  I got so excited about this tech that i built my first computer in a create in 2014 and started mining LTC, only because mining BTC would have been nuts then with the diff.  any way i have started over the last we while to teach myself Python and have recently bought a Raspberry pi.  Thought id ask, has anyone any great ideas of what i could do with it regarding bitcoin, i would love to run a node but as far as i'm aware i havnt enough hard drive or ram.  so looking some other great ideas?

many thanks

Calkob

Hi Franky thanks for the reply, sorry maybe didn't explain myself right, i know i can build a node by buying extra equipment.  but was just wondering if anyone had any other ideas and had maybe already done something with their PI that they could share.

thanks

There is some good work in a thread showing how to configure a Raspberry Pi 2 B as a Full Bitcoin Node. You also need a MicroSD besides a Raspberry Pi to do the project. The thread  gives you all the code you need and gives advice on the pitfalls.

you can use a Raspberry pi, for anything. thats the point.
use it as a computer.
use it as a relay
use it to manage your ASIC's
use it connected to a projector to display the bitcoin price at bitcoin meetings/conferences.
use it as a presentation system
use it as a blockchain monitor
use it as a trading bot
use it for anything you can think of.

Re-brand it as a "two-one" computer and sell it for triple the price!!

Re-brand it as a "two-one" computer and sell it for triple the price!!

supposedly the 21 computer has an added ASIC chip that allows upto 60g/hash mining.

so its not quite a standard raspberry Pi

You Can Run Windows 10 Embedded..Windows 10 Embedded, like the embedded versions of earlier Windows operating systems, is a command-line version of the OS core designed to power control systems, kiosks, appliances, and other devices for which the Windows user interface isn't required. It allows a developer to use the Microsoft developer tools and attach the embedded devices to a network under Microsoft Active Directory control and management.

It looks like someone just did that! Not sure if he has the ASIC chip installed or not.

Might be, I've never seen a Raspberry pi with that kind of capability.
