Let's have some fun with Bitcoin. Most countries in the world sell Coca Cola. It is a global brand.
Now I know, there are a different units of measurement used by different countries, so this would make it a bit complex, but for the sake of this experiment, let's convert the quantity to the same amount of liquid.

1 x Liter = 0.264172051242 gallons. <Just convert your unit of measure to say Liters and put it in brackets>

So your answer might look like this :

I can buy 4000 Liters of Coca Cola with 1 Bitcoin at the current price. < $316 / BTC >

Let's keep it simple, just to show people the actual value of 1 Bitcoin.

Are you talking about 60cl bottles worth 29NT or 2l bottles worth 37NT now? Because it makes a difference.

How about you convert it to a standard meal at Mc Donald's? Or the price for a fixed quantity of bread, which would sound less American-centered and more down-to-earth regarding what people primarily need (and thus more reliable regarding their purchasing power). Unlike franky I still think bread is  a more reliable tool for this kind of experience.

in my country, cola seems to be around 1.7€/litre... Depending on the package, it can cost a lot more (when it's packaged in small tin cans vs big reusable glass bottles).

1BTC is around 300 euro.
So, 1 bitcoin would buy you about 176 litres.

4000 litres would cost 22.7BTC

EDIT: after some research, it seems that with some promotion, in the cheapest shops, cola can go as low as 1.21€/litre... my shop sells it for 1.7€/litre tough.

ok folks this could turn out to be a great thing..

lets pick a few internationally standard products and create a consumer price index for bitcoin:
1) 2litre bottle of coca cola (the most standardized size internationally)
2) apple ipad
3) McDonalds bigmac meal
4) subway foot-long


then put the values together to equate to a bitcoin consumer price index for each region

Assuming BTC price of $316 and an exchange rate of ZAR14.20/1USD...

BTW this should be something like "How long can one bitcoin sustain you?" , then it would be something like 13-18 days for me.

So if I have BTC1, I can purchase  ... damn can't do the Math lol.

Just devide 1 by 0.00333545 and you end up with 299.9 bottles of coke.

Here you can buy a four pack of 1.5 liter bottles for 5 euro.

So 6 liters is 4 euro. (310 / 4) * 6 = 465 liters of coke for 1 bitcoin.

And that is in the Netherlands, not too bad.

I'd make it 1 liter of Coke (for ease of calculation) and take off Subway. How about 1 liter of gasoline / petrol instead? 1 kWh of electricity is another possibility.

Dont forget to multiply the bitcoin per bottle by 1.5. You are using 1.5 liter bottles, not 1 liter bottles, so your calculations are off by a factor 1.5! ;)

Doing liters of coke is good because almost everyone on the planet measures soda in liters. Gas, milk, almost everything else on the other hand is measured in gallons or quarts here in the US. It would be too confusing to the average American to calculate that. iPads are pointless as 1 bitcoin can't buy 1 iPad anywhere on the planet as far as I know.

So anyway, a 2 liter of coke here in New York City is around $2.45 with tax. so that means at $320 a bitcoin I could buy 130.6 2 liters, or around 261 liters.
big macs here are $3.99 without the meal. I could buy 80 of them.
A footlong is $5, so I could buy 64 of them. I don't think they have foot longs outside the U.S. do they?

Coca Cola here per liter costs around €1.50. 1BTC is worth €300 which means I can buy 200 liters Coca Cola.

I'm from Serbia, coca cola cost here 1.1 euro for 2 litars. So for one bitcoin I can buy almost 300 bottles and that is 600 litars of coca cola for 1 bitcoin.

PnP online shows R10 for a 2 liter coke so I used that in my calcs.
Never drink the stuff so that's my only reference.
Of more interest to me would be the amount of beer I can buy. If I go this route I can buy around 79 six-packs / just over 3 cases.

Ok so in Taiwan 1 BTC = 10,530 NT (321 USD).
One 2l bottle of coke is 37 NT.
-> 1 BTC allows me to buy roughly 569l of coke.

Here is in my country :
1 liters Cola-Cola is worth Rp.8000
1 bitcoin is $320 = Rp.4.355.200

So with 1 bitcoin i can get 544 bottle coca-cola.

Genuine Coca Cola costs €1.80 for a 2 liter bottle. Which means I can buy myself around 167 bottles of each 2 liter. The cheaper coke's cost €1 per 3 liter bottle  :D

Would it not be great, if someone with a spare bitcoin, could go out there and buy the amount of Coke he or she can buy with 1 Bitcoin and donate it to charity? The publicity for

this, could be good for us, with all the negative publicity we are getting currently. It will also raise awareness of how valuable 1 Bitcoin are currently and it shows the purchasing

i would buy water instead, much more healthy, actually with my new diet i don't even need water or anything like that, this is the definition of saving money, cutting on the uselesses stuff

Here where I live, in France, 1 bottle of Coca-Cola (2 litres) cost €1.79. That means that I can buy 335 litres of Coke for 1 bitcoin!

Remember the fact that some poor dude bough 1 pizza for 10k bitcoins. In the future you could probably buy tonnes of coke(the drink or the narcotic) with a single bitcoin.

Coke in pet bottles is counted right? 1 coke costs 25 pesos (prices are varying nationwide) and 1 bitcoin in our country is 14520 (or $330). In total, only 580.8 bottles can be bought with 1 bitcoin here in our country.

Btw, 1 pet bottle = 320 mL.

So, about 160 bottles in my country, Croatia, if I calculated it well :)

I'm wondering how you can do those maths. The price of 1L of Coca-Cola varies a lot from a supermarket to another. At least here, in France.

in my country i can buy around 540 liters of coca-cola with 1btc>326 dollars

So, 1 BTC is equal to 308,4€ according to Preev. 1L cost around 1,10€.

308,4/1,1=~280L. So, with 1 BTC, I can buy around 280L of Coca-Cola.

We can see a huge price gap between countries. The price of world brand products indicates the level of development of a country, even if it can vary due to local standards (cf. Germany). Another good example is the price of a Big Mac.

In india, 1 lit of coca cola (with plastic bottle) = Rs.37.
And i got btc price for indian rupees (inr) from google is 1 BTC = Rs. 21602.4216 (roundup the value to Rs. 21600)
So i can buy 21600/37 = 583.78 lit of coca cola :P

In my country ie. India i can buy 580 liters of coca cola.

So you want to create your own version of Big Mac PPP. Only with bitcoin and with Coca Cola... Interesting idea but not viable due to bitcoin volatile properties.
Every calculation based on bitcoin need to be constantly updated and are shifting far more than FIAT currency. In addition in some countries Coca Cola is cheaper than Water: Mexico for example.

i believe in my country 1 liter coc cola was 0.0023 = $0.8
and if get 1BTC,its equal more than 400 liters coca cola,or more than 400 bottles  ;D

1.75L coke is £1.29

£213.75 / £1.29 = 165.7
165.7 Bottles x 1.75L = 289.97L


So, in the UK: 1BTC buys ~290L Coke

It also gets you about 45 Gallons of petrol (gas), Im not sure if that says more about what bitcoin is worth, or how expensive fuel is in the UK ;)

Average price over here is 1.50$ for 2 liter Coke. So it's about 0.00462 bitcoin per bottle, which means you can buy 216 bottles, or 432 liter of coke with 1 btc.
Amazing how much cheaper it is in the most of the world. We always have higher prices, and lower wages than the average..

That's a reasonable estimate, assuming the average 2l bottle costs around $2.

lets see a 2L bottle here is about $1.99 CAD, or about 1.55 USD. each bitcoin is ~320, meaning i could buy around 206 of these bottles, and that turns out to be 412L of coca cola with 1btc  :D.

So, If I take a quick average of what we are having here at the moment, you get +/- 400 Lt of Coca Cola for 1 bitcoin. The people who reported 4000+ liters are quite obviously making a mistake somewhere. Those calculations must be wrong somewhere.

I used Coca Cola as the product for this, because it is a global product with huge distribution and a well known brand.

Well firstly it depends for what coca cola do we talk, 0.33L, 0.5L, 1.25L, or 2L.
And it depends when will you spent these bitcoins to buy coca cola.
Currently with 1 BTC i can buy 612 Coca Cola 0.5L, but i think i would get cheaper when buying in bulk :)

Do you have different prices for different sizes of bottles? If you take the content of those bottles and you round it off to 1 liter, would the prize differ? So you divide the content

into milliliter and then work out what a litter would be. Let's take 0.5L or 500 milliliters for instance... 2 x 0.5L = 1L .... So you would be buying 306 liters of Coca Cola with 1 BTC

I am in Japan so it's about 1 dollar per 0.33l can or bottle so about 325 cans of 0.33l which give us a total result of around 107 liters of coke. That is way too much coke, my stomach hurt just from thinking about drinking that much. I haven't drank coke in a lot of years, only very sporadically when I go to eat a burger (if you are going to eat fast food then why not add a coke).

The price of 1 Bitcoin in my country is $438 Dollars, a bottle of 2 L cola on sale if I'm lucky is 0.99 cents + Deposit 0.1 + Taxes 0.05 = $1.14
$438/1.14 = 384 Times
384 2 L Coca Colas * 2 = 768 Litres of Coke for one Bitcoin.

If I don't wait for a sale its 1.97 + 15 c = 2.12 = 206 *2 = 412 L so there is a big variance (Fixed from 512)

Dude that's 299 bottles of a 1.5 liter Coca Cola in your Country or if you want it in liters, then that's 448.5 liters and 179,400 calories (1 liter of Coca Cola is equal to 400 calories).

Fair enough Norrisk if I add in deposit and then buy more coca cola my range would grow it would take a lot of rebalancing though so your right it makes sense to ignore it, in the end with deposit I think it would deviate due to compounding every time I buy more coke with the deposit and end up with a few liters +- more that said I noticed I made a math error last time and put in a 5 instead of a 4 so I was wondering why it ended up at 512 L again turns out 10 cents in this calculation is 100 L from 2.12 and 2.02 haha

First must be told that there are to many kind of plastic bottles in which Coca Cola is sold. Then are even the Coca Cola cans. And to do the calculation for all those I need to be paid for my day work. I will pick only one of the bottles. The one which is 1 liter. If agree that this moment 1 bitcoin worth about 325 us dollar in my country can be bought almost 330-340 bottles of 1 liter Coca Cola. Because one of this bottles full of Coca Cola cost a little (but very little) less than 1 us dollar. As for the other formats I'll be ready to calculate all those when the Op will give me only 1 bitcoin.  ;)

Well coca cola at Brazils is costing around 1.57 dollars for 2 lt of coca cola im confused and well we cant compare the price of it since there severay different plastic and promotions and others things to be considered into this.

I could presently buy about 250 two-liter bottles, so about 500 liters. Maybe up to 550 occasionally when there are some deals I guess. Don´t follow it very much.

I think there is none country on the world where coca cola would be so expensive you would not die if you would drink for 1 bitocin of cocacola. Even 0.1 BTC can be a deadly dose in most of countries.
