Would it be possible to use solar power like that to fuel a mining rig?

If you could figure a way to make a steam turbine I would say yes.

I do not know what container your boiler would be as it needs to handle 2000f beam of light.

I also don't know how much steam  the boiler could produce.

Are you expecting to run the miner only when the sun is shining?

Quite an interesting topic!
It's needs quite a bit of thought to find a system of fueling to exercise that 2000F/1093C into something useable for power.
It's quite an idea though and boy does it do work on anything you put in front of it!

Solar power combined wind mill's is free electricity when is sun and when is dark. Bot for both u need big investments.

Solar power for a mining rig is not a good idea. Solar power is not reliable for something meant to be draining power 24/7 for the simple fact that even in the most sunny regions there's always night time. Solar energy is better to be consumed on the spot in order to avoid inefficiencies. But that means you'd also need a stable power source. Solar panels would be a good long term investment to save money on energy you purchase, but for something like a mining rig it would just add up more dept and make the whole thing more inefficient and unreliable.

The amount of steam it would produce would be insane, since it can boil water instantaneously. I tried looking online but it is hard to make a compact steam turbine in your backyard.

if you have an s-3  that has paid itself off you can run it during sunlight hours.

if you have a new s-7 that has not paid itself off you are correct.

I researched mini steam turbines a little bit when I was interested in a mini high pressure steam set up of some kind.  In general is is not worth the cost and complexity of the equipment you will need.  The green turbine sells small steam turbines that produces 1kw to 15kw of power.  But you need the solar array, heat exchanges, condensate pumps to keep the system dry and to evaporate the water again, pressure gages and valves to control flow and tubing, then you need converters to reduce the something 500 volt ac output to a usable 12 v dc voltage.  It's honestly easier and cheaper to just use solar panels or wind turbines but regardless of any solar setup you need to understand the engineering and setup so you can install the system yourself otherwise labor fees from a contractor will kill you and your roi.

I would think you need sun for the entire day without cloudy days to have enough power. Of course there are generators for those rainy days. But those miners (A7) need alot of juice to run at full speed.

Initial investment is big!!!
batteries!
maintenance!
etc....

it's not worth it unless u got no access to electricity, or too much money and free time!

i use a grid tied solar system to power my miners(no batteries). generating about 400kwh's per day with solar energy.

i have seen this setup and may do a small farm with you.

If the setup price could be mitigated by doing all the work myself I've thought it might be a good idea. You could keep all the gear once mining finally went south and as long as it paid for itself by then you would have a ton of solar panels and gear you could re-purpose for homes and business in your area. You could probably sell them off at quite the profit.

Like anything in the economics of mining its really all about having the liquid capital to pay for everything up front and the balls to risk it on something with no guarantees. Also the more people willing to do this the less everyone can make on it. I think a lot of people got into mining recently because it was profitable and with a few more 10%+ diff increases everyone is going to loose out big time real soon.

Their are now seethrough power cells, if they would have invested in this, we could have had this in the 70ties, yet capitalism, great system... essentiallyu every window could be a solar cell, yeah green tech doesnt work man...
