Title: Could you share Your first time BTC Experience?
Post by: rambo304 on November 21, 2015, 04:40:10 AM
Dear BTC users,

When I first visited BTC Talk, I saw it as a good marketplace (it is the best, no doubt)...never knew or used BTC before, even after being a member for a long time, i didn't use BTC and instead i used Paypal...

Recently (before 2-3 weeks), I created a new Bitcoin Account and started using BTCs for the first time...I'm overexcited to use BTCs than any other form of money transfers these days...:) :) This is huge turning point for me.

BTC have loads of potential, I'm still a beginner with BTC. This forum is too addictive and changed my life considerably.

1.) Your First Time experience with BTC ??
2.) When did you start using BTC for transactions??
3.) What do you feel about BTC after using it for such a long time??

-------------------

I wanted to ask you guys a few questions related to BTC...

1.) Do any of you Use BTC for International Transfers ?? (In my opinion BTC save a lot of money as we won't have BANK Fees, Interbank transfers, no currency conversion charges, safe and instant transfer)

2.) How about BTC Trading (over forex/ share market) everyday?? is it wise to invest on BTC and do trading??

please feel free to share your Views...:) :) Happy to see you all BTCTalkers...:)

I know about bitcoin from long time ago but not used it before few months ago. After using it as payment processor i find it quite easy and cheap than paypal like processor. Yes it is quite profitable if you can do day trading with 1+ bitcoin.

Basically you asked 5 question so I think it would be better to change those last two numbers to 4 and 5 and to answer your questions in exact order:

1.) I started on the BTCitcoin world around late 2011 wherein all I did was to mine using graphics cards that I had before.
2.) Around less than a year ago since I started to actually buy stuff using it.
3.) I think it's the best invention of the century.
4.) Yes, I do for many occasions and it's a big savings compared to other options on that matter.
5.) I don't know much in terms of trading although I know some who are making a living out of it but put this into consideration that it really takes time before you be a pro trader.

i think i'm just want to answer numer 1-3 :  :P
1. i knew about bitcoin since late 2014.
2. I honestly do not buy goods with bitcoin, but I redeem and purchase goods from the outcome
3. I think bitcoin is something that will continue to exist

1. I actually got in touch with bitcoin through faucets. Got greedy and googled free money, the first thing that popped up was bitcoin faucets...
2. I eventually started in the mining business, mainly in cloud mining, which I have quit because of the price falling all the time and the electricity bills getting more and more expensive.
3. Bitcoin is fun and easy to use. You can be totally anonymous when buying things and sending money. The technology behind it is a big breakthrough of the century and I'm more than happy to use it :)
4. I sometimes do transfer money via bitcoin when I will be staying in a foreign country for a long time. When I was in need of money I just exchanged a small portion of it.
5. The first trade I have ever made was about 2 weeks ago, when bitcoin was worth 400$. I sold a big portion of my coins. The week after the price fell to 330$ - then I bought the bitcoins again and made some small profit.
Trading is a good way to make profit, however it requires knowledge about the bitcoin economy.

Yes I was very late into bitcoins I started using bitcoins in 2014 but yes it was a great experience to earn bitcoins, My first experience with bitcoin was good I converted my first earned bitcoins to fiat currency and it was so easy simple and fast with minimum transaction cost, And the money got credited to my bank account in fractions of seconds. So now generally I use bitcoins to convert it to fiat currency.

Wow...thanks a lot guys for sharing your experience...:) :)

In my believe if someone started using BTC before the BTC evolution (when BTC touched $1000), they would have earned a lot.

I guess i knew about BTC before 1 or 2 years, but i thought this will be extremely unstable and risky to use (as its not a currency), so never had the guts to try BTC, but now I realize that's a huge mistake. I would definitely say BTC is the best invention of this decade..

Its nice to read through the posts, everyone had a different experience with BTC, but overall we all love BTC..:)

We want to see more posts to this thread..:) Feel free to share your experience ..:)

It's more then just a marketplace, it's basically center of every bitcoin news, discussions, services etc. And if you visit at-least once a day and scroll through sections, you'd get up to speed with things happening with BTC around the world.

1.) Your First Time experience with BTC ??
2.) When did you start using BTC for transactions??
3.) What do you feel about BTC after using it for such a long time??

1. Around 12+ months back, I saw a program on TV and then got interested in it and then searched and joined this forum.
2. Sometime after I joined this forum.
3. I think it's a great new technology which will change how we spend/store money.

1. I make transactions everyday to a lot of people and most of them are from farthest corners of the world and you're correct it's fast, cheaper, safe and most importantly a lot easier than sending money worldwide using other mediums.

2. That's something for you to research on your own and then make your decision. But I think it is very wise to invest in BTC.

Just experiment with it by getting some through a giveaway then from faucets then bought some from some payment processor that I had a few dollars in.
That is my story. Nothing too exciting.

I knew about Bitcoin around 2009, that was when I first bought Bitcoin.

I only started to buy stuff, with Bitcoin, this year, when I found out about a great website called purse.io.

Bitcoin is revolutionary and I love using it.

I knew about bitcoin ever since it came out. I didn't think much of it at the time so I didn't make any investments or didn't do anything with it.

I actually started doing BTC not too long ago. I believe now that it has a lot of potential in the future and it's never too late to start stashing BTC.

1st time experience: well ... not really an experience, but somewhere in the final months of 2011 a friend told me about Bitcoin. He was mining them actively, while I found it an interesting phenomenom but brushed it off as some funny internet curiosity.

1st transaction: in april 2013 I bought a very small amount of Bitcoin and decided to trade with it to gain crypto. As I had never traded before and also was a complete n00b regarding crypto, I managed to blow up 90% of my initial investments in mere days.

Feeling about usage of BTC: it isn't some odd curiosity on the WWW like I thought in 2011, otherwise it wouldn't still exist after years and exploded in value since its conception. I think the technology could certainly overhaul the financial world in a positive way, but the question is: will it get accepted by the general public and thus gaining much more momentum ... ?

International transactions: sporadically. And in those cases, transfers were fast and without the known barriers the current financial systems presents nowadays.

i remember that i come accross bitcoin in 2010, but i ignored it completely i was thinking it was a virus or something

the i liked the mining aspect of the bitcoin and i loved it when i discovered about the whole thing

Unfortunately I have heard of Bitcoin in the news, begging of the December 2013, when it broke $1,000 mark!

I have gotten right away my first bitcoins from Virwox and I had paid those bastards huge fees. I think my first transaction was about $100 worth of bitcoins, that gave me about 0.09 BTCs.

I have sent them immediately to Cryptsy and there I started exchanging them for other altcoins and I started playing with all this!

the first time i heard about bitcoin was back when it exploded and prices were at like $900, i thought it was almost impossible to get a bitcoin so i just ignored it. then later i decided to invest a bit into it when the prices were at like 600.

i remember checking bitcoin prices day and night to see if i broke even  :(, it wasnt really an fun experience but it was still pretty exciting.

First of all I want to say welcome to the forums and to the Bitcoin community , feel free to ask question in case you have any issues .
  • I saw couple of videos about it while searching about stuff related to PayPal on YouTube , and that was on 2013 I guess .
  • I started using Bitcoin for transaction at the end of 2014 (the price was ~700$ then If I remember right) .
  • I don't consider one year as a long period of time but well ... after sometime I felt that Bitcoin have great potentials and I decided to hold them instead of spending them.
  • Yes , in fact I don't use it locally at all because no one on my country really use Bitcoin .
  • It's pretty wise (at my point of view) to invest in BTC , However you should know that Bitcoin is a long term investment and not really to make quick profit and walk away, so if you are patient it's a good choice for you . For what comes to Trading I was never a fan of it (I suppose because I'm not that good at it ) .

Your First Time experience with BTC ??
I was trying to mine it, back then cpu mining was the thing, but i hated it since it would make my laptop unusable while mining (little did i know ..)

When did you start using BTC for transactions??
Pretty much as soon as i heard about it. My first transactions were trading related though. (altcoin and bitcoin trading)

What do you feel about BTC after using it for such a long time??
I feel that it's simple and easy, and i fail to realize why not everyone is using it. On a negative note, there should be more attention directed to safety,
because a lot of ppl get robbed and don't ever trust bitcoin again.

Downloaded the client early on but was confused by the blockchain sync after leaving it all night it still hadn't synced. So I uninstalled.

Later a friend of mine started buying products from Silk Road. Soon after I got involved - bought some, set up a few sites and faucets.

I've heard about bitcoin a few years before when they have set up an ATM in my country as well and they were in the news. After this year, in May, I just googled it if there is a BTC bank card. That time was when XAPO had started to roll out their debit card but after a long mail conversation with their customer service I decided not to take part in the test period because of the high prices. Later on, this year September I've googled again about them and saw that the debit card is working normally, the test period was already over. I've decided to join and also I've joined this forum to learn.
My first transaction was that from my first earnings (from a signature campaign) I have bought a coke with my new debit card (0,5 l of coke and it took my whole salary of that week :) )
Paying for daily goods in shops with BTC card is really fun, because they don't even know what kind of card I use, so they don't know that I'm paying with my bitcoins.
But I don't want to spend my hard earned BTC's if price will continously rise like nowdays

But I am so happy that it existed.

1.) Your First Time experience with BTC ??
As another user mentioned I was watching a television program and was interested to learn more about how you can buy products with this cryptocurrency as they called it.

2.) When did you start using BTC for transactions??
I learned what a btc wallet was and once I had my wallet address I knew it had to go somewhere. So I put it in on keystroke at a time so not to mix up the characters some way and off I was into the crypto world of finance.

3.) What do you feel about BTC after using it for such a long time??
It was fast to do initiate a transaction. But did not realize you had to wait for a series of confirmations to be completed before it arrives to your balance. So this threw me off for a while until I did my third transaction and it was successful with in half an hour.

In order to get into the swing of things and to understand the mechanism of work is quite a small amount at first for training.

1.) Your First Time experience with BTC ??

A friend of mine told me about BTC and how he was making money trading doge and thinking about selling BTC on ebay. I didn't understand anything about it but trading interested me.

He turned me on to checking out Cryptsy and I later was able to get .01 BTC off of him to try out trading. And then I traded for a long time..

2.) When did you start using BTC for transactions??

Earlier this summer I needed an intercooler and some Turbo accesories for my car project and I sold some of my trading profits on gyft.com for a $200 ebay gift card. I also bought a sticker from Bitlab, I see him around here too..

Other than that I don't want to spend any BTC because it's hard to come by, hard to buy. I have had my BTC across Cryptsy, Coinbase, Mintpal, Bittrex, Poloniex, Mycelium and a few alts with wallets etc..

3.) What do you feel about BTC after using it for such a long time??

I believe!! I am accumulating and hoarding whilst simultaneously kicking myself in the rear for spending some of it on my car..

I agree with that statement but once you do it once or twice it just seems useless to continue after that because your time is worth more than a fraction of a penny worth of bitcoin.

First experience was creating an online wallet and then hitting some faucets to accumulate some satoshis. I remember being happy when I earned my first 2 cents  ;D. Then some weeks later suddenly my password for the wallet did not work. Tried the passphrase they gave me on registering, and it did not work either...

Long story sort, I lost my first 2 cents and learned on my first experience that the ecosystem is quite full of scams.

My first bitcoin experience is all about my ignorance about it . I thought that 1 satoshi is equavelent to 1 bitcoin haha , however when i sum up all the bitcoins that i earned through faucets within 1 week it's value is 0.1$ only haha get little disappointed about it , thankful that i didn't stop there now I earn 0.05btc or more  weekly  a fair salary for a part timer like me .

I heard about bitcoin back in 2011 because a talk show I listened to had blockchain.info as an advertiser at the time. I heard about bitcoin so often and didn't really have any understanding of it that I started to hate it. Then a year or so later after they had talked more about it over time it really started to click for me and that's when I knew I had to start accumulating.

How can this be worth so much and how can I get some so I googled and came here and then looked at how to get some so ended up with faucets and then using those small bits to trade against altcoins and been here ever since.

It's not the worst to start out with but it is time consuming for getting so little. For starting out it's a great idea.
lol i think we all start there at one stage

I begin buying bitcoin on virwox and looking around investing and growing, I never use faucets, I think it is waste of time and not worth the effort

1.) Your First Time experience with BTC ??
A site I was a member of started accepting Bitcoin at the time
2.) When did you start using BTC for transactions??
Rapidly after I discovered it was useful and convinient a few weeks after that first experience
3.) What do you feel about BTC after using it for such a long time??
Excited it changes constantly and there are always new things going on in the sphere.
(Personal note post 1000 feels like a good post to give it to)

I wanted to ask you guys a few questions related to BTC...

1.) Do any of you Use BTC for International Transfers ?? (In my opinion BTC save a lot of money as we won't have BANK Fees, Interbank transfers, no currency conversion charges, safe and instant transfer)
No, but I am interested in the utility of it although the conversion side remains a problem in my opinion.

2.) How about BTC Trading (over forex/ share market) everyday?? is it wise to invest on BTC and do trading??
I have done forex, it was interesting to run it the volatility of it is something else.

Yeah, I use BTC for International Transfers as I am working overseas so need to send money back home and I think BTC transfers are best, convinient, cheap and very fast transactions, the money gets credited to my home account with fraction of minutes So I feel BTC transfers are better then wire transfers or by transferring from WU as the charges are high and it is also time consuming.

I handled my first bitcoin very poorly, because I just bought it and I got quite paranoid on where to store it safely. There were a lot of hacking going around and people were complaining about breaches in online wallets. Yes, I did store my first coins in online wallets.

I still have those coins and they safely tucked away in cold storage.

Unfortunately I did not take advantage of my early knowledge of bitcoin (I opened my first btc wallet at beginnings 2012), but I decided to spend more time in other online stuffs and neglected my approaching to this currency. Nowadays I try to recover the time, but I think it is too late because the bitcoin conditions and perspectives have changed a lot.

That's good to hear that you have safely stored your bitcoins in cold storage and now you are aware how to keep your coins safe, the first experience and first earned coins are always memorable and its really disappointing if we loose our hard earned coins to scammers or hackers. Prevention is better then cure.

My first with bitcoin well satoshi, because I did some faucets. I was really happy that in 30 min. I could earn like 25 cents. It took so long to just get 0.1 bitcoin so I stop. So yeah I think bitcoin is awesome to have and to just earn money.

I feel you man. That fear of sending coins to the wrong address is still strong within me. I usually double, triple check addresses and amount of BTC.
I've seen people sending 0.5 btc instead of 0.05, so you will be better safe now than sorry later.

Me too... When I first found bitcoin, I was actually finding a way for free bitcoins. The I use faucets and paid-to-click sites for my very first coins. Then I have 'invested' my first 0.001 BTC to a HYIP site (by that time I still don't know how dangerous those sites are, nor joined here in bitcointalk), and then I of course, lost them.
So for all first time bitcoiners, don't spend your first coins without doing research on the site that you're spending your bitcoins to.

There are some days in everyone's life that change everything.
The days we never forget.
Many of them are intensely personal and involve other people, like the day my son was born, or the day I first fell in love.
Others involve experiences with things, like the day I got my first car or first used a computer.

But one day I’ll never forget was the day I discovered bitcoin.
It was 2010. I had just checked in to a suite at the J.W. Marriott in Bangkok, Thailand.
First thing’s first: get wifi working.
Laptop on the bed. Jet lag wasn’t so bad this trip. I ordered room service––a banana split sundae, I remember.
As a finance professional, I loved lurking the world of digital currencies. I had been following online money since the e-gold fiasco years ago. Now there were new players in the game. Liberty Reserve was big at the time. Pecunix was quiet but steady. MoneyBookers was popular. And of course there was Paypal. Although not its own currency, it was still part of the internet money landscape. I always have and probably always will deeply despise paypal.
Yet as always, every digital currency seemed dodgy and untrustworthy. Still, I knew that “magic internet money” would be important some day.
I checked my usual online sources, and lo and behold, one had a link to an article about “loom” and another had a link to an article about “bitcoin.” Hacker sites always have interesting stories, I’ve learned.
I was fascinated by what I read.
I stayed up all night researching loom and bitcoin.
Loom (which wasn’t exactly money) is forgotten today.
But bitcoin has changed the world. And my world.
I found the old pre-MtGox New Liberty Standard exchange site.
I couldn’t believe these things called bitcoins actually had a market.
Some lunatics were offering up to a dollar per bitcoin, which most people agreed was outrageous.
I kept reading.
I found this forum.
I found the white paper.
I learned to “setgenerate true -1”
I dug deeper.
I bought a GPU.
It became an addition.

Yes faucet in Epay is very favorable, we can gain a lot of bitcoin if we are diligent. I also still play there faucets, within 4 days I can get 50,000 satoshi. It is unbelievably fairly well to add bitcoin and I also really enjoy doing it.

So i decided to try bitcoins on faucets i earn and few satoshis until i reach 0.005 then i want to multiply my earnings so i decided to invest it on coinsera the big ponzi scam i just try it and my bitcoins had gaid profit everyweek then after that few weeks the support is gone and my bitcoins stuck on that site so i search many time on google how to recover bitcoin until i came here and made a thread how to recover bitcoins on that site..
But bad luck i cant get it back m y bitcoins but in the end im happy to be in here on bitcointalk because i learn a lots about this online ecurrency
And i earn much in signiture campaign than doing captcha in faucets.. Thats it..

It was not a difficult experience when i first came into interaction with the idea of bitcoin trading. The reason is because I have been observing a friend of mine for a while now engaging in active bitcoin mining and even trading. This gave me the first experience. One thing I need to confess having trouble with is making a final decision on which part of bitcoin i should always venture into. I was however given enough advise and I can say that I have never made a loss ever since i started trading.

When I calculated the hourly wage I was being paid to solve captchas for spammers, I realized I could make more money by picking up the cans and bottles people leave on the street.

But that was my first experience with bitcoin.

Known about bitcoin for about 4 years now, since 2013 when it was really making the news because of the bubble it was in at the time.  Maybe before, time is a blur for me.  Didn't buy my first bitcoin until last year around March and I didn't join this forum until then either though I lurked for a long while.

The only time I spent bitcoin was to buy some silver coins from Provident and I could have done it much more quickly and easily with fiat, and next time I won't use bitcoin.  Bitcoin is good for little transactions on forums like this and for storing value without taking up space.  I don't like it as a currency.

"This must be another Ponzi scheme!", this was what I told myself the first time I heard about bitcoin.

However, the more I read about it, I more I realise the "ideas" behind bitcoin about freedom and decentralisation, not back by anyone, or group of people, or company, or a government.

I hope bitcoin continue to be led by these values...

Your First Time experience with BTC ??
I was trying to buy some BTC, at that time, only MtGOX has it, but i have to wire money there so I did pull the trigger

When did you start using BTC for transactions??
I bought some Lite coin with my bit coin. Thinking lite coin will catch up with bitcoin, This is a huge loss.

What do you feel about BTC after using it for such a long time??
Bitcoin is too volatile, when I try to pay with bitcoin, the store owner is like they will have to sell right away ...

1. My first time experience with bitcoin is around 2013-2014.
2. I start using bitcoin for transactions is the middle of 2014. around july-august, after i received my payment.
3.  i don't about trading. Yes i think it's good to invest on bitcoin.

I lost most of my original coins to HYIP and cloud mining. PBMining and HashProfit to be exact

I used to play faucets probably 2-3 years ago. At that time I thought what I'm doing is worth my time until I realize after knowing the conversion rate that there are other things that are worthy of my time.

I read about BTC in early 2011 from some anarcho site,
downloaded the wallet, did not do anything with it, and soon
forgot all about it.

I kick myself mentally whenever I think about that!

One my friends used to use Bitcoins for trading, I was asking him about it but he said that first I have to learn online and should know about the bitcoins in you tube or in google. and then he started to tell me that this is a digital money where there is lots of benefits are there. He showed me, how he do transactions and get money through ATM after selling his bitcoins to a trader. It was a nice experience knowing about it.

1.) Your First Time experience with BTC ??

first time I heard about bitcoin was a long time ago, it was around the time when price was going higher and higher (before the $1000 bubble) it was the time that you could mine bitcoin with your PC at home, but since I didn't have a good system and no money to buy a better one, I could not get into mining which I still regret to this day.

2.) When did you start using BTC for transactions??

I started using bitcoin after the bubble phase ended and the more I read about it the more I liked the technology. and my first transaction was to my blockchain.info wallet and it was from faucet earnings.

Quote
3.) What do you feel about BTC after using it for such a long time??

I still love bitcoin without a question. the fast transactions, and the fact that I don't have to rely on a website and obey their rules (like Paypal) in order to use bitcoin is the best option for me.

1.) Do any of you Use BTC for International Transfers ?? (In my opinion BTC save a lot of money as we won't have BANK Fees, Interbank transfers, no currency conversion charges, safe and instant transfer)

well, I have bought some things online, all those sending/receiving are being done oversees if that's what you mean

2.) How about BTC Trading (over forex/ share market) everyday?? is it wise to invest on BTC and do trading??

please feel free to share your Views...:) :) Happy to see you all BTCTalkers...:)

yeah, trading was one of the first things that I started doing after a while that I learned how to use bitcoin. I mostly am active in trading altcoins these days since bitcoin market was boring for a long time.

Like many people here, I also have started using bitcoin as a faucet user. So, my 1st experience about bitcoin was not that much fruitful. Claiming 100, 200, 300 satoshi every hour and storing them in microwallet account was so frustrating.

amazing. Now I am enjoying my work and getting paid in bitcoin. Really bitcoin changed my life a lot.

My first experience was very nice and pleasant since it is very cheap than paypal as well as no bank transfer or any additional or hidden charges are involved while transferring bit coins.

Sig campaigns can be profitable. That is how I started earning my BTC at first . Enough to start my own sig campaign!

At first I didn't believe that there really is a bitcoin and that it has a value like money, so I just ignore it, until the day that I was on leave at work and looking for something to read and something to do while surfing the internet.. First time on trying to collect it, I was disappointed, as I thought 1 satoshi is 1 bitcoin, and I was so busy collecting it from faucets  for the whole day, not knowing that I was just collecting the smallest fraction of bitcoin...  :D

In my case, unfortunately, I did not take advantage of my early knowledge of bitcoin (I opened my first btc wallet at beginnings 2012), but I decided to spend more time in other online stuffs and neglected my approaching to this currency. Nowadays I try to recover the time, but I think it is too late because the bitcoin conditions and perspectives have changed a lot. i'm doing a lot of research though.
