Newbies, if somebody tells you doxxing is allowed, they are LYING TO YOU. I don't care who tells you it is okay. If you are new and you are caught doing this, I will report you.

I'm not aware of any rules on this forum against DOX.

It is up to the individual performing the DOX service to make sure they don't violate any laws, or to suffer the legal consequences if they do, but I doubt that you'll find any moderators here that will ban someone for performing a DOX service.  I doubt you'll even find any moderators that are willing to remove posts offering DOX services unless those posts are not made in the wrong area.

I don't know what you mean that it is against the rules here? It (DOXING) does not even have a specific meaning. It may be done for stupid or mean reasons, but i see no rule against it.

You are welcome to use bitcoin in ways that preserve your anonymity if you like, but nobody is required to do so.

Bitcoin is a pseudo-anonymous cryptocurrency. It does not need you to reveal your identity in order to send money unless you transfer your Bitcoins into USD or other currencies that need your identity to proceed. Bitcoin is dedicated to protecting the identity of whomever uses it.

Might as well call this site PaypalTalk, since PayPal needs your first and last name, along with your bank details and home address. Bitcoin doesn't need any of that.

Shout all you want, its not going to change the rules. If you dont want to get doxed, dont give someone the incentive to gather all your publicly available information. Even better, dont have publicly available information.

In any other circumstances would mean revealing the actual identity BEHIND the bitcoin address, meaning doxxing.

It does not require you to, but is doesn't stop  you from doing so either.  It is a tool that can be used to preserve anonymity if you choose to use it in such a way, but it is your responsibility to preserve your own anonymity, you can't expect anyone else (not even a website or cryptocurrency protocol) to preserve it for you.

No it does not mean doxxing. Other circumstances can mean many many different things. It could be voluntarily giving away your information, it could be doxxing, but doxxing is just compiling publicly available information into one location. If you can be doxxed, then your identity is already revealed BEFORE you were doxxed. It is another matter if hacking was involved.

That part that you highlighted in red means that "the identity of the user behind an address" can be revealed "in other circumstances".

That means that DOXing can reveal identity, jsut like making a purchase or anything else that fails to preserve anonymity.

Please take a close look at the Terms of Service (ToS).  You'll see that there is nothing in there prohibiting DOX.  If you can find anything prohibiting DOX, please point out exactly where in the ToS it states that DOX is not allowed.

There's no ToS! But it goes without saying that doxxing is against Bitcoin in general.


If Bitcoin doesn't ask for your identity, why should you ask for another person's identity?
