Title: Gold Scrap + Silver Scrap
Post by: photoa6155 on November 21, 2012, 04:05:53 AM
Some Precious Metals for your Consideration.

(11) Morgan and Peace Dollars-Some decent, most junk condition
(7) Walking Liberty Half Dollars- Same as above
(6) Franklin Half Dollars-Same as above
(2) Silver Eagle Dollars- One in decent shape, other looks like some one tried to buff the face off. See Pics

Total Coins in OZ: 18.12 (50BTC) Sold

Scrap Gold all 14K tested with stone and acid, I think they are all marked also: 11.0 grams (30BTC)

Sterling Silver Scrap all marked, a bit of everything: 3.85 OZ (8BTC)

I would Prefer to sell the whole lot at once. I'm not interested in selling individual coins or pieces. Take the gold, coins,or sterling. Im going to leave it open to offers for a day or so and then put prices up. Just want to gauge the market. Normally I sell to a refinery but I need some btc more than cash right now. I am open to escrow, since I have never sold on here before nor do I post much. If you want higher res pictures let me know. Thanks for taking a look

My count is 15.21 ozt on these coins. First, silver is measures in ozt (troy ounces) and not oz.  Second, your morgan, peace, and halfs are only 90% silver..  while it might have a scale weight of 18.12 oz it only has an ASW (actual silver weight) of 15.21 ozt. Using the same price per oz as your original offer, that would make the lot 41.97 (42) BTC.  I would be willing to pay that for the lot if you are interested.

Hey bullion,

I know the difference in troy ounces ;D. I just posted in oz and grams because some people get confused when you start throwing OZT and DWT. I will consider your offer. Thanks

We went through bitmit.net it was my first time going through them, and it worked out well.

Are Morgan dollars really scrap value? I had a friend told me to try to get more for my morgans. I suppose it depends on the year/condition?

I hope to get a bit more than scrap for mine.

Condition, condition, condition... most circulated morgans do not have any inherent numismatic value (with the exception of "key dates" and "cc" mint marks).  They do sometimes carry a spot + $1 premium at my local coin shop anyways, but I can often find them for spot.  Uncirculated morgans on the other hand can go for a much higher premium depending on condition.  One thing I have learned is never to rely on a graded given to a coin by a seller unless it is slabbed by NGC or PCGS.

Thanks for the information and link. I really don't know that much about precious metals. I have never really bought it. Some was left to me and I can't figure out anything to do with it other than sell it. I would really hate to sell the prize of the collection for melt value. I don't really have time to become a coin expert lol.
