Title: BITCOIN - Time to buy? Time to sell?
Post by: Bitcoin Marketing on December 02, 2015, 06:50:15 AM
Guys,

Since the last peek of 500 USD few weeks ago, the value is stable around 350 USD.
Its changing on hourly basis, we saw it again 3 days ago.
What do you think need to be done now, lets take 10 BTC as example.

Sell the 10 BTC for the current value - as the price is going to crash
Keep the 10 BTC and fund t buy another 10 - as the price is going up soon

What do you think ?

It is really hard to decide whether you but or sell your bitcoin because if you use BTC as an investment it will be so risky
To make profit you simply buy low and sell high , but with bitcoin to spaculate the high and the low is quite difficult

you said it yourself, the value look stable at 350, so it's time to buy, i'm quite sure "they" are playing the same range 330-380 as it was with the previous trend

maybe wait some more, because right now it's dropping, and then decide, but at this range everything seems a good buying opportunity

Dont think like a day trader, with 10 BTC you ll achieve nothing.

Think like an investor. In 7 months time, we ll have BTC block halving. This ll halve the supply of BTC, permanently. What do you think is going to happen with the price?

There s your answer.

Whether it's a good time to buy or sell really depends on your plan and perspective. Are you a day trader or more of a longer-term investor? Whatever you are, just make sure that you are trading using a reliable exchange so that you won't get any unpleasant surprises.

if you only have 10btc and lack fiat. and worry that its your life savings... sell half..
then if it drops you have $1750 to buy cheaper coins later.
and you will still have 5btc if the price rises..

if you only have $3500 and lack bitcoins, and worry that you might miss the boat or worried your buying too high.. buy half
then if it drops you have $1750 to buy cheaper coins later.
and you will still have 5btc if the price rises..

in both instances you will still have 5btc if the price rises.. and have $1750 in the bank to not panic over

but

if you have 10btc and alot of fiat, so that $3500 is not a great loss.. HOLD

Just hold, and you should buy it if you have more money. Just wait and you'll see how much profit that you earned ;)
Well.. if you need your Bitcoin for real life purpose, selling is not a bad idea tho.

Thanks for the advises guys :)

Summarizing all comments i have got to this: Better to keep your Bitcoins or maybe sell them ? LOL

I guess I will just wait with the 10 coins and see whats next. Its part of side project we are running with 3 different groups, we call them the optimistic, the pessimistic and the miners. Each reports on weekly basis what they will do next in case they will have extra 10 BTC in hand and we record all the comments into sprint file. ( Already holds 79 weeks of recording )

So again, thanks for commenting

Don't sell. No one can predict how and what can happen with the price of bitcoin. If you will sell exist one probability (may be big and may be few, no one can know that) that you lose all your bitcoin if the price don't go more down than it is. Even if the probability may be very few, exist. So better hold than risk. If you don't sell you for sure will have your bitcoin. For sure. They will have big value with big probabilities, beginning the next year (after halving). Don't consider bitcoin as a "tool" to bring profits in short time. This is a wrong approach about it.

The only thing that can break this rule is a sure investment with it. But must be sure. I lost some bitcoins in such kind of way because thought that the investment was sure. But wasn't such. Told this example to give the importance of being "sure". It is sure when you are convinced 100% that your bitcoins cannot be lost. Otherwise only hold and try to find more. Or better to invest in new cryptos which can have future. See and evaluate their data, their philosophy, their support and their plans. Naturally of the owners. Are risky but the earnings (if does everything ok) can be colossal. Much more than the game sell/buy which cannot be predicted in any way how can be.

It all depends how long you planned to go with Bitcoin imo.
It seems you're not in for the long haul otherwise you wouldn't ask to sell or not.
It's difficult to give you a decent advice as the price is going up and down more wild at the moment.
If I would be in your situation however, I think I would hold the 10 bitcoins you have and maybe buy a bit more, but not 10 more.Follow the price the next days to 2 weeks and decide on that.
I believe the price will go down a bit this month due to christmas vacations and new years evening.
So accumulate and wait!

As you can see even lots of negative news like bitcoin with criminal, france attack, silkroad etc price hasn't gone down like hell as bitcoin has get more mass adaption than before. If no-one manipulates the market i don't think there is any reason to go it down. So just hold it and sell at new ATH price.

I managed to sell a nice part of my stash at 450's and some more at 420's I brought back in some last night and will continue to all the way into 2016. It will be going up for the halving and you want as much as possible for that. I hold what I have left  & buy more over next few months. I won't say what you or anyone else should do but you know what I'm doing.

It depends on what do you want to do with your bitcoins, if you go long as long time investment and you think that price will go up its time to buy. If you have your bitcoins bought on lower prices and you think that bitcoin will go down sell them and buy at lower price.
I'm here for a long time investment, and so i will not sell at this prices.

Looking through some graphs the other day I found a place in 2013 where the graph looked identical as it does today, except after this smaller 2nd dip the price continued steadily increasing until the mega bubble. Not very scientific, I know, but I think the fundamentals are there to suggest it. I think if you can hold for 6 months to a year then you should just buy now. It could collapse like last winter but it would rebound eventually. But if the price just continually grows from here on out then you'll never be able to recoup that opportunity cost. Of course theres a risk of a total meltdown so plan accordingly.

Heck if I new this for sure, I would make a ton of money in no time! Seriously man, nobody knows this! And asking yourself these kind of questions will seriously make you go crazy since you will either lose big or win big. For this, you might as well roll a dice with your 10 BTCs, after all you have about 50% chances to win or lose.

Time to buy more and more. Seriously if you have money you should buy more Bitcoin. We knew 200$ is too cheap last year, now we know 350$ is too cheap. In 2016 we will see 400$ as the new ground.

Title: Re: BITCOIN - Time to buy? Time to sell?

time to buy and hold, before the price reached $400, because I am sure we will be back to $400

My opinion is that never sell bitcoin if the price is below the $1,000
Since the bitcoin price is rising now it is better to buy and hold them for a period.
Then maybe in the near future (before or after the halving) to sell all of them.

Title: Re: BITCOIN - Time to buy? Time to sell?

It's time to hold and/or buy.

I wouldn't sell at this price, you'd probably wouldn't make a lot of profits of off your bitcoins right now.

Title: Re: BITCOIN - Time to buy? Time to sell?

Selling wouldn't be very wise to do right now. It's best to hold or buy more bitcoins if you can.

I don't think you would make a lot of profits if you're going to sell right now.

Its true, the profit you will now get with trading is not much, but if the people have the patient to buy them now and wait till it will rise to a high price it will. In my opinion we just need to wait for the right moment to sell them, maybe after the halving has been done.

First as for me is very risky to try to speculate with bitcoin. Cannot never predicted its price. Don't exist any kind of reliable data which can give enough info to make possible the prediction (even estimated one) of the price of bitcoin in time. Can be told only that, normally, must be an increase of its price after every halving because of reasons easily understandable. Bot this happen only one time on every four years. So cannot be taken as example that can allow to tell that the price of bitcoin can be foreseen. This as about the bought and the sell of it or vice versa.

For the remaining I remain convinced that bitcoin cannot be sold in our days. Only bought and stored in some wallet but mainly used to invest on it. There are several ways to invest. Maybe not all will have good end for the person who will invest (so maybe for the people who cannot chew the "losing" it would be better only to save those :) ) but there are good options to invest it. Me for example have lose several times but only one made recently are making me "rich". So worth always to try.

Price is stable at a moment, but I believe this is the good time to buy, as the price is 420 at a moment, so I don't think it will go below that, so good time to make some investments.

The bitcoin price is trading with a range, from $400 to $470. So you can buy at $400 and sell at $470. Repeat the process.

well thing is, that price is pretty huge right now, but you still should buy now, you may ask why, well it's because of halving, if you won't buy bitcoins now, later they will be even more expensive because everybody buys them now, so buy now and be happy later

We hit 430 about 10 hours ago, right now it's at 425 and declining slowly. Definitely a time to sell, let's say we sell 10 bitcoins for 425 right now and it goes down to 415, we're looking at $100 profit. Not too bad, profit is profit, much better than losses.

That is some good amount of profit for just 10 hours of waiting  :D
I bought over 1 bitcoin last night, but should of hol them until today instead of spending them right away.
Never thought of getting into exchanging but with this $10-$15 increase in just a short amount of time, I am tempting to start it.  ;)

I will also hold bitcoin. The price is still too low to sell. I will wait for the price to be at least $2500 to sell.

Time to buy is when you see the price below $375, but that's not easy to happen...
Time to sell is when you will see the price above $500 - $550, just sell it because it won't go far above than this unless some people really inject something huge in BTC, as the market cap is getting more and more bigger and it is getting harder for even big dogs to manipulate the markets as everything is distributed now...

Any price below $400 offers a good buying opportunity. I have been buying the majority of my coins between $300 and $350.

At this point my selling target will be around $500 and after that I will place buy orders at $450 to $470 range as I believe that the price will drop again after reaching $500.

Time to hold.  Too many good things happening with bitcoin, I dont see it going down much below 350.00.  anything under 400 is a good buy as others have said above.  A good strategy is to continuously buy in small increments that work with your own budget.

The best time to buy is when the price is low and around $300 or lower. The best time to sell really depends on how much you did spend on it. As long as you can make a profit any is good.

holding is indeed the best option, but this only counts for people that have already bought their coins and don't need to sell them any time soon. those who haven't bought yet must do it now as the price is very likely to increase while we are heading towards the block halving. stop waiting and buy now as you then don't risk having to enter the market at a higher price point.

Yeah that's true, this time is the right time to buy bitcoin, or else, we don't have any reserve in our wallet when the price increases fast...But it is still considerably good to sell coins right now  as the price is not yet moving up fast...

I think price will start to move up once we get closer to halving, as price is much stable now and even if it is rising it the rise is very slow, so buying now is smart move to make.

People that have already Bitcoin must hold their coins and that can be perfect, but people that has not Bitcoin now around this time than they can make an investment fast.
There are a lot of people that is thinking that the price increase will come soon so if you want to make some profit you have to make an investment now around this time.

But selling is not good around this time, because the value is not high enough to make that good profit now.

Now is not really the time to buy coins because the price is slowly moving up. If you want to sell bitcoins this can be a good opportunity for you the price is still climbing. You can make a nice profit if you sell it for the right price.

No mate this is still the best time to buy, price is not too high and if you buy with current price then you can sell at much higher price at the time of halving, and this is not the right time to sell for sure.

it is time to buy as long as you can get your hands on cheap coins we are still in cheap coin territory ($459 at the moment of typing this) soon the price will be $10 more and $10 more the next day until it is going to start flying up and that is when it is going to be too late and buying then meas the smallest profit.

Title: Re: BITCOIN - Time to buy? Time to sell?

Than buying will be better this time because selling is sin for you because the value is not event that high to sell it so you wont also get that much profit of it and that is bad.
So if you are now making an investment than the chance will be also higher that you can make more profit later.

Yeah, if you are planning to buy then you should buy it now, as price will be higher in coming days, so if you buy later on then it will reduce your profits drastically.

It highly depends on the type of trader.

Short term traders buy and sell constantly to make profits while a long term holder just buys at a certain price and keeps holding it till it reached the price he is waiting for.

If you haven't bought any coins yet, then I will recommend you to do it right now before you end up buying at +$500 prices.

Those who have been holding till now will most likely keep holding their coins till the block halving as we are almost there. If you sell now you may very well regret it as the price is more likely to go up the coming weeks.

There are going to be a lot of people who are going to start holding their Bitcoins now, and we are seeing this with the price. It is slowly inching upwards, and this is a great thing for all of us. The halving will hopefully amplify the value in the future, and I am certainly holding my Bitcoin to see where everything goes. I think the halving will be an incredibly profitable event.

I think its time to buy now. And selling time will be near the halving or at halving when the price will be higher. But but  you dont sell at halving, then maybe you lose because the price will come down soon after halving.

The closer we come to $500, the lower your pre-block halving "pump" increase will be, but people don't realize that for some reason. I can already see threads like "Is it better to buy now or wait a bit more" pop up when the price is reaching $550-$600 at some point. :D Noobs keep always waiting.

Perhaps the price is meant to stay under 500 dollar for now.

i wouldn't want to risk selling this early as people will surely regret selling at todays prices. only sell at todays prices when you badly need the money in your personal life. if you don't need the money, then keep holding them for a longer time.

Bitcoin is going to be more worth so the best thing that you can do now is that you have to make an investment and that would be perfect for the future.
And maybe for you because than you can earn more money with it and that is nice.

He better trade is that where the trader wait for a long time for a specific price with that they can earn better while with smaller selling and buying daily will not make the trader to earn good amount and will take some long time in doing that.

I think it is the time to buy. Even if the price is $450 now, it is still cheap compared to the price in 3 months.
Agree with you, the price $450 is really cheap for buying if we think about the price in the time when halving will occur, at that time the price will cross $700 and so the benefit to us is from whatever price we buy.

The problem is that even though the $450  is cheap to buy, the price will not rise too much in the near future.

What do you think ?

i think that now it is pretty good moment to buy, because of halving, price is huge now ( 460$ ) but compared what price there will be after halving, it is worth to buy bitcoins now

and i don't think that you should sell your coins even if price rises now, you will get small profit now only, better to wait for halving and sell then, because then you will get lots of profit

Yeah if you want to make huge profits then you need to hold it long but if you are satisfied with small profits then you can buy and sell on regular basis.

Holding will give huge profit if the number of bitcoin the user have is high. If user has one or two bitcoin then waiting is not the best thing. Its better to try to multiply the bitcoins.
It will be better if you want to have some Bitcoin is that you must make an investment in it and that is because the value of the Bitcoin is not event that high so that is bad.
But they have to know that they must need patience for it until the value will be much higher.

Due to this fact its better to buy them these days.

It just depends on the price where you have bought your coins at.

If you bought at $435 then selling right now isn't really worth it.

But if you have bought your coins at prices below $300 then you can definitely secure some profits at current prices.

IF the market price has been decaying over time - its a sign of people just saying they accept back at $400-500 as the real sense of price.

Even after the whole halving scenario lol.

In this moment btc is up for 4.85 %. Like I was talking for days btc will grow, and its happening. Fluctuations are normal thing for btc price, traders earn huge money from this ups and downs. You are asking to buy or not, time has passed already. For trading you need to have feeling, to catch lowest price to buy and highest to sell. That's how things works.
Now is time to buy, we will see over 800 $, but be careful about it.

Right now I have no idea whether or not it is a good idea to buy or sell Bitcoin, it might be better to buy and wait, or just wait until the halving is over. I have a feeling the market won't move a whole lot from this point, and we'll be looking at high $500s to low $600s for the next few years, unless something amazing happens and we all get lucky.

Maybe the coinbase-paypal deal will increase the value, but I have no idea.

No one has any idea. If you have spare money buy some, if you don't have spare money then don't buy any.

This isn't a get rich quick scheme anymore. We all need to be patient and stop panic selling at each small dump.

- Buy bitcoins

- Store in a paper wallet

- Get on with your life

- Return in 2020 and see where we are at.

Yes holding a BTC is nice idea, because halving just approaches, and it has a high change of growing rate in this days....., but I think the rate is all determined by the uses, if we use more the demand will rise and so the price of BTC, So holding BTC for long time may lead to loss, so lets Use some and hold more :)

Bitcoin is holding its own with relative ease. Prices remain high, and there is still a lot of potential for a value increase over the coming weeks. so the better option is neither to buy nor to sell, holding the coins you have seems good at this moment.

Yeah I have the same feeling that price will be around $600 at the time of halving, so better keep engaged yourself  in collecting  as much as you can.

$600 in July is possible. That is about 2 months away. We just need the price to rise 60 dollar each month.
At the moment it is best to hold on to your coins because we do not know what is going to happen after the halving but if you have bought for cheap then you can sell right now to make a profit.
I am just going to wait for after the halving the I will decide what I am going to do.

I am just going to wait for after the halving the I will decide what I am going to do.

yeah, the halving has passed already but i think that the price of the bitcoin is going to grow a lot in the future so most probably it is best to buy your bitcoins right now

Upon checking the price of bitcoin today is somewhat increased and that's a good time to buy bitcoins today. Because I think that the price is going to keep on rising in the end. So as the price is still low, this is the time for buying bitcoins.

The bitcoin price is very stable recently. It is trading between $500 to $750 for some time, good for the future price rise.

The bitcoin price should rise in the next few years when more people start to use it, so it is better to buy now.

I think so. The bitcoin block chain size will be increased soon to 2MB or higher, so more people will use it.

What do you think ?

i think that it is neither right now as price is very stable now, and it is too small to sell bitcoins yet too large to buy them, but this is my opinion only

the price will rise slowly throughout the years. a lot people may not even notice the growth as they focus too much on peaks and stuff. these people will also be the first to start complaining that the price didn't go up much, while in fact the price has gone up like 50% if you look at the longer term charts. that's however something they don't see.

In the past 12 months, the bitcoin price rose more than 150%. I think it will also rise more than 100% in the next 12 months.

as the price of bitcoin remain stable in 650 USD lever for a month or so. and the price do not crash as some people were expecting it. so i can say that now the price will take another loop and will increase may be reach to 1000 USD at the end of this year 2016.

I think it is good time to buy some bitcoin now. The price has dropped over 30% from the recent peak of $789.

I think for me its not the best to buy right now because we dont know if the hackers from bitfinex still holding a lot of bitcoin.. and i think the price of bitcoin will be decrease again soon.. better to wait more weeks to see that the price still not decrease and buy after clarification..

Did not know it peaked that high. Just saw it at $720 before all the halving took place then after the bitfinex hack dropping to nearly half that much at $420.  :-\
It has been a rollercoster ride to say the least in the last month or so. :-[

I know the thread is a bit old, but we may be on a crucial moment for this year's evolution of the Bitcoin price.

Because of the Bitfinex disaster we had a dip under the important mark of $550 (and even 500). But it did not last long. In my opinion it got so deep because the bid order books of the other USD exchanges (BTC-E and Bitstamp, mainly) were not able to manage the selling pressure after the bad news. That was a bit similar to the situation in April 2013 when MtGox halted trading after the crash from 266 to ~120 and Bitstamp dropped to USD75.

If there had been another USD-based exchange with a similar volume than Bitfinex, the dip would have been less important.

So the mark may have been broken or not - that's the question. We must wait how the market reacts in the following weeks. Fundamentally, the Bitfinex hack is bad news for the Bitcoin community, as it's another drawback for the trust in the project. So I think despite of the bullish last 48 hours, price may turn down again soon.
