I want the btc now, not after you crack the password

What is the assurance that BTC23 is inside in that .dat file? And you really don't want to do it with an escrow for those interested buyers that you dont trust?

OP there's no way you can prove this is not happening:
  • You create a new wallet.dat
  • Encrypt it with a random password extremely long, impossible to crack
  • Send 23 bitcoins to it
  • Sell the file. You can safely send first or use escrow
  • Once you get the 0.5 BTC create a new account and sell the wallet again
  • And again and again
  • Finally move your 23 BTC with the password you had all the time

Selling a wallet.dat file instead of asking for help is extremely suspicious.
I strongly recommend not deal with OP.
