I would like to hear your opinions on Why should people use Bitcoin?

The bitcoin network is an easier payment network, faster to use than other payment methods. You do not need to register any information and have access to a world wide market where you can earn and spend.  :)

Some good reasons why you use bitcoin.

1. It is fast. Transactions are instantaneous and confirmation times are usually done withing 10 minutes.
2. It is cheap to transfer any amount of money anywhere. Fees are insignificant at this point.
3. Your bitcoin are your alone, they can't be blocked by bank, IRS or any institutions.
4. There are no charge backs.

Bitcoin is to banking what the Internet was to telephony. The most exciting thing about it is not anything that we have seen yet, but what it can become in the future.In the 1990s, we saw the same story play out with telephony and the Internet. Then, the Internet came online as an open, peer-to-peer network, enabling thousands of new apps and innovations we would have never dreamed of even a decade ago – the rest is history!

Just because the dollar wasn't really designed for the internet. We're trying to somehow make that happen, but we've ended up with huge fees and lots of delays while trying to transfer money across the globe. The whole idea of fiat isn't really sustainable in itself, since the average lifespan of fiat past 775 fiat currencies is about 25 years. Also bitcoin is transparent and it's growth rate is pretty predictable.

One of the main selling points for people to get into Bitcoin is the very low miner fees at the current moment... While this will probably be increased to double the amount it is now, roughly around .03-.07 cents, it will still be substantially cheaper than using payment systems like PayPal.

in the age of the internet is paper iou's really the best we as the human race can do,  obviously not, bitcoin has arrived.

I don't think common people "should" use Bitcoin right now, it's very complicated for most, specially women and not tech savvy people. I don't want to sound harsh but that's my experience. Also to be honest everything can be done via credit cards or paypal, there's not an actual need for Bitcoin for them. Privacy is an illusion and credit cards have insurance, there's no risk and they are instant.

Bitcoin strengths are other things, like its unique technology, disruptive ideas that can be applied or used in the future but because of price volatility and difficult to get a hold of it hasn't found a niche yet.

To be honest, as Bitcoin currently stands, the only people who should be suing Bitcoin are those who are willing to take risks and are willing to learn new things. Aside from that, Bitcoin is still relatively young, and as such we likely haven't seen its final iteration. There will always be new technologies or services coming out that will benefit Bitcoin in some way, and thus we have to take some risks to further the project.

Yes now!!! Families are getting broke because of the transfer rate of dollars. Just think about a Mom sending money monthly for a year to her family at a different part of the globe. How much will it be for 12  months. In bitcoin all that rates will be minimized and it is like you have 13 times in a year compared to those other transfer money companies.

I thought of some more good points why we should use bitcoin: hackers and thieves can’t steal your payment information from merchants if you are paying with bitcoin and use it for their advantage.
And unlike credit cards bitcoin is private, for example: your wife won't find out that you bought her present after seeing your bitcoin transaction, but could easy tell after seeing your credit card history...

I could care less about what others do and why they do it. For me it is about financial benefit. Bitcoin is the fastest, cheapest, and most secure money. It is far better than dollars. In order to use dollars I must have permission from the issuer and must use them according to their rules. Dollars only work in the U.S. and a few other places and if I want to send them somewhere I must pay ridiculous fees and wait for up to a month for everything to be cleared. Even worse, dollars require trust. I would have to give all the information required to steal from me to a website, a payment processor, a credit card company, others?
Cards look so stupid to me now. I'll never go back. A better title for this thread is "Why the F@#% would anyone use fiat"?

I understand you. And I kind of think that too.

If I introduce Bitcoin to my mother, brother or other people who aren't tech savvy... They would simply forget about it because of many things: bitcoin is not so easy to get, it is confusing how to start using it, create wallet/address or whatever.

Even paypal is not that popular in my contry, and it is still hard to find local online shops accepting it let alone Bitcoin.

I remember while in school we all had those lessons with fiat currency, we had fake money and coins made of paper. Their purpose was probably to teach how to deal with money and bla bla bla...

I think it is time to teach them how to use Bitcoin too. :)

I can point out a few reasons why people around me use bitcoins :

1.You're tech savvy : You simply like technology ,especially code/web/programming etc.

2.You want to be cool:There are bunch of this kind of people who simply use bitcoins because they think its cool to have those "Bitcoin Wallets" and show off their balances.

3.You're a trader: Extremely inclined to the business side of the market.They know what future has for them,they prepare for it .

4.You're a investor :There are this type of people who buy anything and everything and sell it off to earn profits.Mostly they have money and good financial backgrounds so they just buy bitcoins as assets .

5.You're a gambler:Yeah finally,you want to be safe/secure/anonymous while gambling use bitcoins because the government doesn't give much fucks about online bitcoin balances.

1. If we focus at targeting bitcoin as tool only for advanced and technical users we won't reach better adoption anytime soon.
2. If you think it is cool to have bitcoin you probably are adolescent teen with hormonal tempest raging within.

Nah seriously, lower fees, faster transactions ( yes im sure that in the future it will be pretty faster ), no 3rd persons involved in any transactions, NO MANIPULATION POSSIBLE and much more...

The best for me is that you have not to trust anyone, that you can transfer funds worldwide and that you can join the system without registering anywhere. If you want more opinions, just tell me.

Why people should use bitcoin, because it is easy to send and receive money from all over the world, no need for iban no need to pay additional fees to the bank so it made our life easier.

You nailed it there are so many reasons that why should people use Bitcoin which you have listed amazingly and very few reasons where people are bit hesitant to you it. So the question should have been why should people not use BTC.

Everyone should use bitcoin. It doesn't carry too much weigh with small amount of people, but if we turn this into something that majority of population would use, we
could finally be free of middle man services, banks and fee's - which is not a small thing.
But even with user and service count we have today, you can still utilize it to send money across the world with min. fee, since there's bitcoin atm or exchange practically everywhere.

I do believe that with the advancements in terms of technology, we are going towards having the digital currency. Bitcoins is a perfect example of digital currency. people should be able to use the coins since they are the things we will be using in the coming years thus it is a rehearsal for them now. The other reason is because bitcoins has this high value and worthiness that people should embrace. They should be used as alternatives to gold.

It has definitely the potential to become a top payment option. The future for Bitcoin is great. I only think it will take quite some time before we see Bitcoin being a real threat to PayPal and so on.

Definitely for gambling as others have mentioned and I didn't in my previous posts. I can see the advantage there instead of using credit cards in casinos all over the world. However there are and were plenty of not so safe Bitcoin sites, investments, casinos, exchanges that create a bad name as it's not really regulated. If this wasn't the case I'm sure Bitcoin gambling would be much bigger today since it's completely anonymous, in many sites you don't even have to create a profile/account, you bet right away.

Yes these are great benefits, but is it easy to gamble away all of your money in this way. Trust me, I am telling you from my personal experience. With the traditional sites, at least you have a way to self-exclude yourself. With the Bitcoin gambling, you are always couple of clicks from the bet and if you are addicted, Lord better help you!

Yeah, but at the same time it's great for the Bitcoin economy in general. It doesn't really matter to some people to lose their money they put in. It's all about the thrill for them, and if they are going to do it no matter what, might as well be with bitcoin.

I don't know if 7 billion people will ever be using bitcoin, but lets say hypothetically the users to reach into the billions. There is no reason 21m coins can't be enough. You have to consider each coin is 100m satoshi. That just means that last satoshi will actually be worth something.  I'm still learning about bitcoins myself, but maybe it's possible that they can break it down into even smaller bits it there was the need. As it is, if the value of a coin reached a million dollars, then a satoshi would be worth a penny and 21 million bitcoins would be worth 21 trillion. It looks like there's plenty of room for user growth.

People should use bitcoin because it revolutionizes the way we shop online. It revolutionizes the way we interact with many things online.
Blockchain itself, is god given tool. The person(s) who made it, did a very well job. Him/them, started something amazing.

This is the new world. We are living in it. We should be proud for that.

I would not exactly say that bitcoin revolutionizes online shopping, not really - you can pretty easily shop with credit card or PayPal.

Well it's not really "should" per say but if they are interested yes they should because it makes transaction easier and well done even able to track it and low transaction fees.

The most attractive thing is people can store their money securely. It can't be taken down by any of those big government like USA which have taken down lots of site including liberty reserve saying they are being used by criminals. They have not only taken so called criminals money but also money of innocent people like me.

As for me the people must use bitcoin only to earn other bitcoins from those which will use. At least this is what i do. Bitcoin is to precious to be used for the bought of the everyday things.

Even for investment must be very careful because can be lost even you use them to earn more. It is an example happened to me which is perfect to confirm the wrong use of it while you with its use have in mind to earn other bitcoins. There is a opportunity which offer profit for an amount given by you to them. This amount could have been in us dollar or bitcoin. I thought to use bitcoin because want to have more such. But the problem was that they worked with us dollar and the profit was given in us dollar. So I invested in bitcoin. The amount of bitcoin sent by me was converted immediately and automatically in us dollar and worked in us dollar. Then if you wanted to withdraw the amount to be taken automatically was converted in bitcoin and sent to me as bitcoin. Where is the problem? If the price of bitcoin increases I will have less bitcoin than before with the previous price. So was the risk that me don't have even my invested bitcoin if the price goes high more than the percentage of profit given by the opportunity. So an my error in analyzing well the opportunity could make me lose bitcoin instead of earn others.

Conclusion: don't use bitcoin for everyday stuffs and use it very carefully in investments which can grow the amount of those in your wallet. Bitcoin is precious. There are justified hopes that its value will greater in the times to come.

It's the best way I can receive money that is from another country, to avoid ridicously high taxes and bank fees.

Yeah that is the nice think about bitcoins just so low taxes if you give money to other country.
The only problem is that the most people don't know how to use it. Maybe the new generation will know it more.

Wouldn't it make sense that people who want to promote bitcoin use bitcoins for everyday stuff whenever possible? What will make it grow in value is more people using it. The more retailers that accept bitcoin because more people are willing to use it as a method of payment will grow.  So if there was something that I wanted for $500, I would first find out if someone was selling it for bitcoin and buy it with that, or if I wanted to go out to eat somewhere, a place that accepts bitcoin will be a considering factor. As more retailers accept them so will others because their competitors will have an advantage.  Since retailers have many benefits from using them, they could also offer a discount which would encourage more consumer use. This seems like one way we can help make it a more commonly used currency and grow it's value.  People who just have some in cold storage or use them sparingly could help facilitate its acceptance by using them whenever they can. Of course, everytime I used bitcoin for everyday stuff, I would immediately replenish that amount in bitcoins from cash.

Your consideration are more than right. It must be so because the use of bitcoin help in its spread and this spread make more possible the achieve of our hopes. Anyway if after the use of it, everyone don't buy at least the same used amount, my previous post (even can be considered as very selfish) it is the best answer that can be given about the use or not of bitcoin.  ;) I repeat: Something rare cannot be used for everyday stuff. Yup right Its like tax free transaction and Value is bigger than other country currencies. It very quick than Western union and all other banks. Once Confirmation time for Bitcoin transaction is fixed means then Its a Nano fast medium of money transactions

No, I think that for more people, they do not understand Bitcoin, it is more difficult to use

Every new thing normally is unknown thing and as such, difficult to be understand and maybe even to use. But after a few time everyone who want to learn about that or have need to use that is able to use it without problem. Let make as example the computer. At the beginning the use of it was only from the scientists and academic people who belonged e restricted area or fields of knowledge. Today is not strange to find even very old man and women who passe their time in front of an computer. In other words being difficult for something new doesn't mean that cannot be adopted. Maybe needed more time to be adopted but everything can be learn. If not so the humanity wasn't arrived here where it is. Without the new (and difficult) things we all had been at the Iron age.

People need to start getting paid in bitcoin--and I mean by corporations like McDonalds and Walmart, not solely by tech folks on these forums.  If that starts happening, then there won't be any question bitcoin will be widely adopted and this question will answer itself.

In the US and other countries I'm sure, it's very useful to send money across borders to family cheaply.

People use it for anonymity, simplicity, convenience and perhaps as an investment.

The only way this has even the slightest chance of happening, is if people can pay their bills/loans/mortgages/etc. with Bitcoin. Since a large majority of those companies that we all need to pay every month is highly regulated by government and needs to be able to tax this kind of thing (not to mention income taxes) then we can't proceed with this type of mainstream adoption.

Yes international money transfer are made easy and more convenient with bitcoin. I have been into online earning since 2010 and paid more than $1500 in transaction, withdrawal and in money conversion charges. With bitcoin it would be just $200 fees only. This may be one simple example why I should have used bitcoin.

Most of the people in PTC or in freelancing who faced higher fees with Paypal or Payza or Skrill kind of online money processing would tell why we must switch over into bitcoin transfers. Bitcoin is a virtual bank, most useful on domestic money saving and for international money transferring too.

I personally think of bitcoin as an asset. It's volatile, and I like trading it. Some people like the anonymity of it, some people like the p2p aspect of it, and some people are just intrigued by a cryptocurrency.

At this point the governments have zero control over Bitcoin. That's what scares the governments, and that's why we as Bitcoin users love Bitcoin to the fullest. That's also a reason why governments want to try to make Bitcoin less usefull by implementing worthless policies around the world. Government's agenda : Push Bitcoin back as far as possible.

Why? Because if you go to other country you need to pay there money and with bitcoin you can just pay with bitcoin.
The fees are also cheap that is why people need to use bitcoin.

It's easy to use, the only problem with bitcoin is that it's not accepted everywhere like regular fiat.

Easy, bitcoin is owned by you. No ridiculous limits. If you want to sent all of your money you should be able to do that. Not wait for approvement or a daily cap. Also i prefer the cost.
Sending 0.01 btc cost the same as sending 1000 BTC. and the fee is very very low.

Sure you are anonymous but look at the above, self controll and cost efficient, isn't that enough?

I like to use bitcoin because i don't have to use dollar anymore for online shopping.

I came from which dollar is not my local currency. So, bitcoin is very helping.

With bitcoin i can buy anything from anywhere, and fee is very low.

in my opinion Why should people use Bitcoin because easy use, fast, cheap and Bitcoin provides financial freedom.

Easy to use, over the internet and on your mobile phone.
You can make way more profits by just holding bitcoin rather than placing all your money on a savings account.

I think Bitcoin has many advantages over fiat or normal currencies such as the USD and Payment companies such as Paypal.

Advantages:

= Very low fee to send and receive cash - much cheaper than Paypal or Western Union or SWIFT or TT Payments internationally.
= Decentralized and not really controlled by major governments or finance companies
= Quite Anonymous - You do not have to give all your information to a company to send money.

Disadvantages:

= Takes around 10 minutes for the first confirmation - so the payment is not instant.
= Price Volatility - The price of Bitcoins is much more unstable than say USD. Hopefully this will be more stable
= Unknown - Still not accepted by major companies and there needs to be much more marketing to promote Bitcoin.

These are the things that i can think of for the reasons why Bitcoin may or may not be used.

That is the exact thing to say it. Just growing it in your wallet is better than other investments where it takes years just to see the profit of your money. That is why bitcoin is growing lot of buyers now and demands.

So I'm pretty skeptical about what I underlined above, and totally disagree with what I put in bold.

Bitcoin isn't very decentralized, but it provides more decentralization than the central banks (obviously).  I think this problem is just going to get worse as time goes on and the future halvings cause more "at home" miners to stop mining because the cost of them doing it is just way too much than what they are getting out of it.  Doesn't mean that all miners will get out of mining, because a lot of people just enjoy it for a hobby, which there is nothing wrong with that... it's just a very expensive hobby IMO.  I just think the development of big time mining farms that will become the "Apple" or "Microsoft" of mining will be inevitable, because as the difficulty increases and payouts decrease, you have to be able to know how to run miners in the most profitable way in order to gain ROI.

Now with true anonymity, I don't believe that one bit... and it's becoming more clear that's the case every single day.  Like I stated above, people don't just mine to produce their own bitcoins to spend.  Bitcoin is very much pseudonymous, but the privacy and security that bitcoin gives users is declining every day.  If people want to get into bitcoin, they will probably have to go through a 3rd party exchange site, which requires them to link their bank accounts and/or credit cards, which links to them as an individual.  This is not at all anonymous, and people should start realizing this... that's honestly the biggest flaw I see in bitcoin right now

One reason is what you've said, because bitcoin is the future money. People should also use bitcoin so they will experience freedom and it is also convenient. They will definitely have a better experience like never before. Bitcoin can also change someone's life, if used correctly because personally it helped me a lot finnancially and educationally.

Coorect. Plus look at how it grows. You wont need a bank for investments. Plus you wont have that scared moments when you see in the news that your specific bank is bankrupt. Here you handle everything and whatever happen to your money its all in your hands.

Bitcoin in born as a currency is only a currency. If a boy born boy cannot be girl (can become only if change radically itself or have mix genes since the birth). In other words, if bitcoin must become or be something else (different from the birth) must change radically its being. Thing this that has not happen yet. Bitcoin is exactly like Satoshi has created it. Did all those explanations because more and more I see that different people to make the savant invent other "professions" and "meanings" for it.

I have heard that bitcoin is a commodity and tried to argument using various references and concepts that can be found very easily in internet. So who want to learn if is commodity or not it would have been enough to do a search in internet, to find the meaning of the two concepts and arrive at the needed conclusion very easy. With few words the conclusion is that if something is commodity must be touched. And everyone can understand very easily that bitcoin is not a commodity because cannot be touched. Who want the total argumentation and have patience can find it doing a search at my posts which can be found at my profile.

Today, for the first time, read that bitcoin is an asset. What else must be heard in this life about bitcoin? But this time the argumentation about this last pearl is even more easy. I have to ask: With which asset can be bought something? And not only in internet but even out of it. Even the everyday bread. With bitcoin is very difficult this last action but not impossible. If the vendor who sell bread is a bitcoiner and had a laptop at the place of work even the bread can be bought easily with bitcoin within seconds or minutes. But what about the asset? Can be bought the bread with an asset?  ???

People should use bitcoin because they legitimately want to, yes bitcoin has fantastic features but people must be willing to take initiative about what they see the benefits of bitcoin are. The desire to use bitcoin is the driving factor.

Because it is a good turn to the past in the sense that you own your money in your pc, not banks. Reminds me a litte of the time you paid always in cash and bank accounts were not that popular.

Also it is fast and allows for micropayments (tip people for giving advice, good articles in blogs, etc. becamos more doable)

Instant transaction - Not really, block confirmations average 10 minutes, but could take longer. Credit card transactions are instantaneous.
Anonymous - Bitcoin transactions are pseudonymous, not anonymous

My answer is why not they have all the features you are looking for on an online payment processor you are actually acting like a bank manager with your own bitcoin I have seen a lot of people who are using the traditional payment processor and they encounter a lot of problems like getting their account limited and needs a lot of verification so they can allow you to use their services

There are many advantages of using bitcoin.
I wish to use bitcoin for the purpose of investments. Like in past performance of bitcoin, I would like to get more return from it. I believe if I use bitcoin, then my future would be more secure.

From my point of view about why should people use this it has so many reason there it has freedom to use it anywhere as now so many merchants accepting as payment method.

Me too, i already know bitcoin 2013 which at that time its value is very low. I just started trusting bitcoin november last year when i started to earn my own money. That time its value was 200-250$ and now almost 700$ and still increasing. I thought if i just trusted it at 2013 maybe i can pay whole my tuition fees and provide all the expenses while i am studying now.

i don't care that much about the anonymity of bitcoin but is its always good to know it is there and i can protect my privacy with it but other things about bitcoin is so important for me. things like decentralization and fees which are two of the best features in my opinion.

It's true, Bitcoin have lots of benefits in it.  But there are some drawbacks too.  Anyway for benefits, people will have currency and investment in one package.  The high volatility of it make it so.  The fast transaction is good.  The ease of using it gives an advantage too.  I think the benefits overshadowed the drawbacks of BTC.  So people must use Bitcoin in my opinion.
