What do you think will happen to BTC in 2016? Specially what do you expect of the price?

Nothing big going to happen, expect a roller coaster ride though, my price prediction would be playing around in the $200-400 mark.. I am expecting a flash dump after January.

We will see multiple flash crashes, also multiple mini bubbles. We've entered a bullish phase since October 2015, after almost 2 years of bear market. I expect to see $600-$1000 fairly soon, sometime in Feb/March 2016. Between April 2016 and July 2016, we will see a fairly turbulent market as btc block generation halves in middle of July 2016. After the halfing, btc price will start to stabilize around $600.

I expect very turbulent year price wise. Whales could try to manipulate price so they buy cheap before halving, and i expect to we see new ATH after that. Lot of weak hands could lose coins and smart ppl could take profit from next year roller coaster.

$25k by February, $500k at halving, then dump to $300 in August. Close the year at $500.

Yeah, it's gonna be a hell of a pump/dump - half a mil to 300 bucks is gonna be a record, even for the bitcorn.

Big ups and downs. I expect we will reach 800$ / bitcoin or perhaps $1000 again

Maybe a small run-up towards $500 before early next year new EU and US legislation criminalize all possession and use cases of unlicensed (read: not government/bank controlled) digital/virtual currency. I suspect this will bring the prices down well under $50 before it slowly fades away into a distant memory of what could have been.

Are you willing to make a bet on that? I will happily take the opposing side.

why so aggressively?

honestly, it is not so disconnected from reality these days or from historical events. believe of not, governments are so strong, that they can simple say "every bitcoin usage is illegal from today" and start hunting users + giving them exemplary penalties.

I just heard some speculation that bitcoin prices would touch $1000 in 2016. I hope it's true :)

$500 by February, $1200 at havling, then dump to $1000 in August. Close the year at $1500. More adoption can increase the price.

I think an estimate of, say $600 is very probable and the best guess.

Many people run polls talking about the price going up to $1M and such, but that's in their dreams. Nothing will rise so much over that kind of short period of time. Not possible.

Yeah right, i doubt you really think that and has spent all the time you have in bitcoin.  It will adapt and probably see $10k in the not too distant future.

I think the price in 2016 might go back to the $1000 range again. Not sure if it goes over that price level it will stay over it, but we will touch it on several exchanges.

i'm certain that the last ath will be a thing of the past and a new ath will be available in 2016, not sure when

but if we can reach 500 already in 2015, 1k in 2016 look like a joke

I believe that $500 mark was a test pump, so they see if they can break it. We're 6 months before halving, there has to be one more, major pump, which will get more money into bitcoin's ecosystem.

I think it might be $300 to $400. Because, few weeks ago price hits $500 and doesn't even stay for one day and again down to ~$300. Now its ~$400, so again the same thing will happen. Price will be at $300 to $400

I think we will definitely see rise in 2016. I feel that bitcoin adaption has only risen this year and will keep doing so. More and more news about bitcoin on mainstream media. Even my mom lately asked me what are bitcoins and how could she get some. No, she did not hear about those from me.

I think bitcoin will be well over $500 during 2016. How much over, we will see. $1000 or more is very possible too.

What i am seeing here is quite positive. My estimation would be around 600 usd. Give or take 50 usd.
If we reach 1000, then it will make my year ;)

We will see a new high, I am sure of it. Look how this thing is developing and going up. We also had quite good news from Hong Kong this weekend. Add the halving to this equation and all of the other things that are currently developing and it's clear where are we headed!

I'll go along with the majority and say that the median value will increase during 2016, though I doubt we'll see structural prices into the four digits. At least it seems we've left the bearish phase for now and that's promising on its own. A (very) volatile value will allow many people to earn a significant amount of crypto/money, and others (weak hands?) to lose.

Yup We can see pump as well as dump in next year. Most probably Price will increase during the festive times and Price will go down we are not seeing demand for bitcoin. Already this Bitcoin succeed many milestone.Like Debit card for bitcoin, Many MNCs start using BTC to give salary and many more. According to this. from next year onwards We can mostly rising face only in BTC. :)

Yeah I'm thinking the same. I'm hoping that bitcoin will reach $1000 mark again or even higher. I see so much potential in it next year.

I don't know witch price will have bitcoin in 2016, but i expected a price higher than 500 $ on middle 2016 and increasing with halving event. I would like to finish 2016 between 600 to 800 $ (if finaly the price is higher, there isn't any problem ).

No worries Sure It will be more than 500$ only because Europe going under crises again and then many festivals are gonna come soon like New year and Christmas So It will raise up very soon:)

All is looking good and I hope we are $600+ and not tank like it did in Jan 2015

I personally wouldn't expect any rise sooner and i also don't think any festivals have the amount of impact needed to move the price by more than 20 %.
It's good if it is slow and steady.

The price will hover around $400 for a few weeks, then it will rise to $500 and stay there for a few weeks. The price rise will slow this time.

WoW! 4K in year 2016 we wish, but I don't think that it will go so high maybe around 750 to 1000 dollars.
I think that in 2016 well be more stores that will accept bitcoin and more people will join the bitcoin ride.

Well before that the halving begins I hope that bitcoin will reach 500 dollars.
I am not sure, but 2016 will be the bitcoin year so we will see what is go to happen.

2016 might be a good year for bitcoins. We have not seen a very high increment in the price for a long time.

i was thinking bitcoin price will back to $1000 again someday and stable in that price and i wish that's really happen in 2016 even though i'm so doubt this will happen in near future

I home so that in 2016 will reach to 1000 dollar again.
Is just so difficult to reach, but I think we will get there around november I think.
If not we have the future still, we need to be patient :D.

1000 may be to fast. But I am looking for a stable price around 600/700 usd. It would mean bitcoin have matured and we can expect more and more things to happend.
More companies getting involved etc.

I think it'll slowly creep up as we near the halving next year. But of course, with ups and downs along the way.

$1000 is the end of year target price, may just be a blip. The average price should be around $700 for the whole year.

My target is a 800 dollar value before the end of the year.
I do expect a increase before the halving and also at the end of this year.

That is nice so that 800 dollar would be stable money for bitcoin in 2016.
I think that is not a bad idea to have in my opinion. That will be great at the end so we can see in 2017 a good stable around 1000 dollars.

We could have another 2013 and have a price increase of 50x, to 20k per coin.

It could go even higher. 2013 was not preceded by a two year bear market (the longer the bear market, the larger the bubble at the end), and the inflation rate is much lower now, and will soon half.

Of course we could end the year at $200.

No one knows. All I know is that I'm going to be increasing my holdings as much as possible at current prices.

The price I am hoping for good stable at range of 800 dollars.
With that I think we can see bitcoin going up and up in the future.

For now I am just happy with this price going higher is also nice.

I am expecting this as well. I try not to get my hopes up.
I like to see it happen first and just be happy when something good happens.

My prediction: Price will surpass the previous ATH in 2016.

Imho the halving is a significant event that will lead to price increases for sure. However it is very difficult to predict the magnitude. Volatility will continue to be extreme.

There are two factors affecting the price this year.

The block size increase to 2MB or higher.

The block reward reduces from 25 to 12.5.

There could be many other factors affecting bitcoin.If the governments completely block/ban it then it could result in a bad way and vice versa...However,there were no such events in the last year but still the price doubled in some months...It's speculation after all.

I believe there is no problem with block size and it might has very less influential impact in deciding bitcoin prices. Only block halving will decide the future price of bitcoin. I predict, halving will launch bitcoin prices to massive $10,000 levels also.

My expectation are around 600 to 800 till the end of the year.
But i'm expecting lot of activity and speculation within next few months pumps and dumps.
But this all will be a great opportunity..

February ~ $320
March ~ $450
May ~ $450-550
then nothing special until Q4...
Nov-Dec ~ $800-$1100

And possible another wave ~$1300-$1600 in Jan '17.

I wouldn't mind if that scenario plays out. That would be actually quite in line with my predictions: not exceeding $500-600 just due to halving, and then having the bubble-like effect at the end of the year, once we get some positive developments for Bitcoin. That would be very positive scenario. The reality may be quite different however: we will be probably having another speculation-based pump like in last November already in the early spring. Then, the bubble won't meet the expectations and we go into a post-bubble bear for a bit longer.

2013 was actually preceded by a ~2 year bear market..  mid 2011 the price was 30, didn't get back to 30 till early 2013.. 

I think that it will rise up to $500 for quite some time. It will stay there for a long time.

The price is staying in the $380 range for a few weeks now. If it stays here for the next few months, when it rises, it will be very high.

There is nothing to say that if the price stays around 380 it will be very high when the price rises.

What it will happen must ask bitcoin itself because only "him" can know what will do. And only if in good moments. Because I have the impression that when is angry don't see nothing and do whatever passe on its "head". Have no boss, have no owner, have no one to care about it (except all us here who struggle our mind how will go with it) "he" have the right to be whatever want.

Anyhow, let go to us and our thoughts. I normally don't do such predictions because have no sense to do those. Have any kind of base and as such without any kind of value. But this year have something different which make possible (make sense) that be made some supposition. But at "macro" level only because if we go at "micro" level it would be again a speculation (like want this board and this thread and like I don't like to do :) ). It is the halving. As so must be an increase of the price if would be applicable at the world of bitcoin the rules of the centralized normal currencies. As for the amount I am guessing 800 us dollar. Not because this amount have any basis but only to give a figure.

I think the price will rise later. Particularly since I think the price is now very low.
Bitcoin is because increasingly used. So I think it's going to be worth more later.

I have lowered my expectations to $700 instead of $1000 for this year. $800 doesn't sound that bad either. Only time will tell what will happen. Patience plays a big role.

I think that the VAT rate will rise sharply in 2016.
It is already clear though gradually rising. So I think it has a good future.

i think 750$/BTC, but that probably won't happen, because halving won't rise price so much in 1 year

The bitcoin price will go to high amount this year, this will happen because of the halving that is coming so we will see a huge price increase in this year.
The second reason is that the bitcoin is getting more popular these days.

The halving could double the price to $800. The block size increase to 2MB will also double the price.

It will change slightly, it will be much higher then it is now, maybe to even 750$/BTC or even more, halving, and pumps and dumps will rise it

There will be a good price in 2016. I hope that it will rise for a very long time so we can sell it with much profit.
But there is a chance that it can also fall and that is the risk that we should take. I hope for not.

The bitcoin price is gonna rise to a high amount this year, this is because of the halving that is coming and done this year.
If the halving has been done the price will rise to a high amount for sure, maybe even over the 1k that would be pretty awesome.

The price could hit $1200 later this years. That could be a new all time high. If the price rises slowly, there will be no crash.

that is my dream. a steady price rise that leads to higher price at least each month. this way the price will become steady with less risk of fall back.

but i am afraid this is not possible and very soon we will experience another bubble this year which will push the price up to $1000 level and after that there will be a crash.

but hopefully price will pick up again after that and for long time investors like me it is still good cause we are planning for more than five years ahead.

Yes. We just need the price to rise 4-6% each months. If it goes up too quickly, it is not for the usage in real life.

i,and everyone else, hopes for atleast 550$ in 2016 december, bitcoin was very low month ago, 370$ if i'm correct, so 550$ would be awesome this year for bitcoin

I am not sure. Their were various attempts to get the price to even 500 dollar  and every time it failed.

we will reach that point, but we need to wait, but the big question there is, is it only the price that we are looking for in bitcoin this year?

The bitcoin price will rise a lot this year. It is driven by the general adoption and also the mining reward halving.
