Title: What do you with others speculation comments?
Post by: HabBear on December 10, 2015, 06:02:53 AM
There's a lot of threads here about price speculation.

"Do you think the price will go above $500?"

"Do you think the price will go below $400?"

"Do you think the price will break $415?"

What do you do with poster's random thoughts on price direction? Anyone making moves with these thoughts? You realize all these comments are just opinions, and largely without any fact base behind them right?

You can use them to gain an idea on market sentiment. If the majority of the posts are negative, there is a good chance that we are in or are entereing a bear market.
If they are more postitive, like now, we are likely in a bullish market.

Also, studies have shown that if you ask enough people for a prediction, the average will most likely be quite close the the final outcome.

When I play the lottery I don't check my ticket for weeks after words,  with Bitcoin I like to hold and every now and then I read the speculation thread and see what people think the possible jackpot will be.

you could add and this one

"Do you think the price will break $450?"

cuz i think that this will be biggest price for this month
personally think that we can break 500 next month

I don't really do much with other people's thoughts and speculation. We all have our own opinion, I find it nice to see what everyone think about bitcoin and what's going to happen with it.
But other than just reading and talking about it with each other, it doesn't effect any decisions that I make with my bitcoins, for that I would rather look at the market myself and how it's moving and such.

well there are things that can tell us that there are more chances for the price to move up instead of down, and this is not opinion but based on fact

like really good news + halving+chinese pumping etc....

The only thing I do with other speculators here is argue with them about them about how they are wrong. It's mostly entertainment. If I make a trading decision, it's based on the chart.

Is fun to read that some people think that it will rise so high in a month and the others will say below.
Is just a speculation that is good to know what other people think.

I laugh at nearly all the comments made in the speculation section. Especially if people think the price will shoot up to $1000 this year  :D There are however some people with valid points, but these people are a far minority in this forum.

I take most comments with a grain of salt. I don't take all of them seriously. I do think that some people have some really good points on what's going on with bitcoin right now. These are all just speculations so whatever people say or might think, it's best to be the judge of your own and what you do with your bitcoins.

Yes is so funny when they say that stuuff, but is true that they are some good points.
For now the people who have said will reach 400 dollars again they were right.

Most comments here are not something to be taken seriously, but these comments are good indicators how people feel about bitcoin. As NorrisK said is a good place to "gain an idea on market sentiment". As a bonus you can save some time on technical analysis :).

You do realize that most "zomg, it's moontiem!!!1!" comments are just desperate bagholders trying to dupe you into buying the coin they're unloading, right?

I don't think you can save some time on technical analysis by reading the speculation posts by others you still need to do your own research.

Yeah but they don't have any influence over the bitcoin price. Many readers ignore their posts.

Yep. But that's the very definition of despair - doing something you know is worthless & has a snowball's chance in hell of succeeding. Like people finding religion & going to miracle cure quacks when they're given 2 months to live by real docs :(
*the more "moon!" posts, the lower the general sentiment, the more desperate bagholders are willing to stoop to anything, no matter how low & hopeless, for a chance to sell.

I will think about the speculation comments. If I have different opinion, I will express myself. Speculation has not much substance.

I think it will cross 500 by this year and we have already seen it passing 415 yesterday.
Easy to predict but its hard to actually get some profit on trading, traders psychology is always not understandable.

nothing. every one here is saying things with a purpose. they either want you to sell all your coins, or make it look like it is the best time ever to buy. i do my own research before buying.

I don't base my buy/sell decisions based on other's speculations/predictions/wishes either. But it is interesting to read all the posts here from one extreme to to the other.

I print them out, look at them and a feel a strange stirring in my loins which naturally leads on to more intense activities.

It's also fun to look back and see how wrong or how right people were with earlier predictions/speculations.

"Bitcoin price will never go over $10."
"Bitcoin will never go below $300 again."
etc, etc.

Lol I think even I made few speculations but it never went wrong I have been always positive about Bitcoin because I have seen how it works and even if Bitcoin's value drops it regains the value back within couple of months

Ah, reminds me of the days of me being a complete n00b regarding trading (still am bit of a n00b nowadays). Deposited a small amount of crypto on BTC-e.com, paid attention to the Trollbox with all sorts of predictions "Sell now or cry later", "Buy now or cry later" ... Result: 90% down in 48 hours  8)

Usually they go in one ear and out the other, but I like reading them just like I enjoy reading crap on other forums.  People here have this religious faith in charts, and I don't buy any of that--I don't believe in technical analysis whatsoever.

I don't do anything. Whoever needs to come and ask what to do on the forum about his investment, probably shouldn't invest at all.

That being said, I love reading through these kinds of threads. I mean good laugh is pretty much guaranteed! :)

If the speculation is supported by certain analysis, I will treat it quite seriously. Otherwise, I will not read it.
