Title: Bitcoin Price Alerts
Post by: itake on November 29, 2012, 05:59:42 AM
BitcoinFTW http://signup.bitcoinftw.com (http://signup.bitcoinftw.com)
We have dumped hundreds of hours into a program that does Bitcoin backtesting with various bar lengths (min, hours, double hour, etc) with live and historical data. Profitable algorithms have been tested based on industry standard trading indicators like:
  • StochRSI
  • William's %R
  • Money Flow Index (MFI)
  • Detrended Price Oscillator (DPO)

After the backtests proved comfortable returns, we hooked up email/SMS alerts to notify when to make trades. The last few months have been very financially rewarding, but that isn't why we wrote this.

We wrote this, because Bitcoins are awesome, we love programming, and we love financial trading.
In future versions, we plan on adding:
  • Hourly Price Text Messages
  • More Algorithms (of course)
  • Automatic trading on MTGox
  • Thorough documentation on how each indicator/algorithm works
  • Open sourcing algorithms to allow user contribution

We are turning our hard work into a website for others to learn about Bitcoin trading and how to effectively trade bitcoins ahead of the market.

If you are interested in a free 3 month subscription, sign up on our launch page and we will keep you informed when our site goes live!

No code, no interest.  Open source isn't just a buzzword you can throw out.

Open source means that you can view and redistribute the end product (algorithms)' source code.

Source code for all trade indicators will be included on the website for anyone to implement.

No, Open Source means software compliant with The Open Source Definition (http://opensource.org/docs/osd).

I haven't seen the source code of bitcoincharts.com/btccharts.com/etc, and that does not stop me from using it. There are things and things.

Don't be so drastic.

If it will not fulfill all the requirements of OpenSource, simply edit the OP.

I think that is an interesting service.

I'll even delete my post if you do one of two things: Publish code with an open source license, or remove the term open source from your advertising materials.  Perhaps you mean there will be a scriptable plugin system and forums for the community to share plugins, or something along those lines.  If you aren't going to meet the definition, please be specific about what exactly will be open and what resources you will provide to community developers.
