Title: WTS: 5970s ~ $150 (650mh/s, 600kh/s stock)
Post by: AndrewK on December 04, 2012, 09:46:55 PM
Have a couple of rigs I'm getting rid of... Just want to sell the 5970s though

4x 5970s guaranteed to mine at 725mhz core 1.000 VDDC...

They get 650mh/s bitcoin and around 600kh/s litcoin mining.

Shipping will be extra unless you buy 3 or all 4... then its free. Not gonna test them gaming. As far as I know, none of them artifact... But some havn't been run as primary dispaly in a while.

Want these gone quick. First to establish an agreement over pm and send bitcoins gets them.

UPDATE: Forgot to mention, one of the cards has been reflowed... Both of the cores. Been mining fine for weeks. This cards comes with a 15 day warranty for mining. All the other cards have not been reflowed and work perfectly to my knowledge.

ALSO: If someone has good rep. but it short on bitcoins... I can take half up front and as long as you can pay the rest within two weeks that is fine.

Thanks,
Andrew

Had some interest in the reflowed card. Just wanted to post something I sent to someone on the forum:

As far as the card goes. I truly believe you couldnt buy a better used(ran for several years) card then this. I wouldnt sell it if I thought it was unstable or wouldnt run for just as long as any other card used for several years. Honestly... I could just sell it as never being reflowed and no one would be the wiser. But I am confident enough in my reflowing and testing of the card to tell you it is good. Infact, not having tested any of these cards gaming. If i was forced at gun point to pick a card that could game without artifacts I would probably pick this card.... Just statistically based on my experience reflowing and dealing with used 5800 series cards.

I only post this to say that: Not everyone is looking to rip you off on this forum. If you buy my card I will offer several methods to hopefully ensure we are both happy:

1. a 15 day warranty on opperation
2. a couple of days test and funds escrowed
3. you could just offer me less than what I am asking with no warranty/no escrow

Anyways. I hope this doesn't sound ranty... cause I don't mean it that way. Hopefully someone buys this card and enjoys it/makes money.

Worse comes to worse I keep it and use it on a parrallel computing project next semester.

Thanks guys!

^ Actually I'm still considering it. If the other guy offering full price doesn't get back to me by tomorrow morning I'll get back to you.

Thanks,

Just poking my head in this thread. AndrewK gave me my tracking number for 3 5970's via PM. The trade is going well so far.

Got my 3 5970's in the mail today. One had a black fan (One of those chinese replacement fans from ebay. I have one in a 5870; Works fine), the other were originals. All of them freely spin with no resistance. I've yet to plug em in and stuff. Thanks again.

Read below for private conversation about cards. Just wanted everything out in the open.

Quote
I am sorry about the damages during shipping. I tried to ensure that there were enough packing peanuts in the box. I don't know how much taping the static bags would have helped. All I can say in my defense is that I've recieved countless cards in the mail this way and no matter how they are packaged it is not unusual to get bent front plates and some chips of plastic gone.

Take pictures of the damage though and I'm sure we can work something out.

As far as the cards go I never tested them gaming. The one that was in the bubble wrap static bag was the display card on the rig and should be your best bet for gaming (I never saw it artifact... watched some movies with it while it was mining).

I am not trying to rip you off and if you are really dissapointed I'm sure we can work something out. I priced them such that they would get sold quickly and at a price that would reflect what little testing I had done on them (i.e. they had just been mining for months with no games played on them).

I don't know the settings you used them for gaming... You ought to try running all the cards in regular games not benchmarks and adjusting the Voltage to around 1.012 vddc and the core clock to stock: 725mhz. This is what they were run on for months on end and since they are older cards they require much less juice for the same clocks. This can help reduce artifacting.

I am posting a copy of this in the thread.

Let me know,
Andrew

Cards went out this morning USPS.

Tracking is:

The card in the bubble wrap static bag is the card used as the display card.

Thanks man,
Andrew

Ok so I got a chance to plug them in and I was quite ..disappointed. 2 of the cards had bent mounting brackets (where you insert the screw). Nothing a pliers doesn't bend back. Also one of the cards had a small red piece of plastic break off near the crossfire connector. Both damages were cosmetic as far as I know and could have been prevented with better packing.

Also both cards with the original red fan show artifacting in games. The black fan one seems to work ok so far for games (I only tested with OCCT and furmark).

You might want to remove the tracking number, since I'm not sure he wants his city and zip code posted.

AndrewK was probably mining with them, and that's what I'm doing with them right now. I was hoping to make a quick buck on fleabay, but they aren't resellable in gaming condition except for, i think, the black fan 5970 (I'm not sure which one came in the bubble wrapped bag, but it was probably that one)

Anyways, heres a link to a picture with the broken off plastic by the crossfire connector. You can also see some sort of stress point on the metal mounting bracket and a smaller peice of metal thats bent slightly. It -was- completely bent downward back towards the back of the card at an acute angle like 70°, but I used a pliers to bend it mostly back to what it should be.

Offered SSateneth an almost full refund(minus my shipping costs). Don't know if he is interested but I don't want people unsatisfied with my trades.

Thanks,

Surprised how long its taking.

I ordered a 7970, 5970, and some other stuff.
and within two weeks none has arrived yet.
7970 was ordered slightly earlier.

Strange. I am hoping nothing happened on the way or anything.  :(

Just to let eveyone know... You only ordered the 5970 from me.... Unfortunately, shipping/customs between the US and Canada does add a few days versus strait usps.

Please let me know when the card arrives and what condition it comes in.

I hope the this previous experience with Ssateneth was a fluke... I want anyone I do business with to be happy.

Thanks,
Andrew

Yea I didn't clarify, sorry for the confusion, and making others think that I ordered all that from you, making it look worse.

I ordered only 5970 from you, but 7970 from someone else, and pci extenders from another person.

And another 5970 from a different person.

Not a single item has came yet in 3 weeks, from 4 different people  :(

When bfl shipped out, they came within 5 days, strange.
(This was about 5 months ago for the 832 Mhash units)

Honestly man, Its been 9 days. If you were in CONUS I would be worried. Being in BC I'd say you should get it this week. Customs does slow stuff down. I shipped it priority international which was an extra $15 outta my pocket over snail mail.

Let me know when you get it though.

Should be able to tell where it is at from the tracking number. In case neither of you know the customs declaration number acts as tracking number on the priority parcels could be same for the other levels I never get those so can't say for sure.

There are serious problems with the card. I decided to install it today.
I have two 5970, other one works fine. But the one with the label, or yours.
It runs extremely hot within seconds, I touch the black plate of the card, and it
burns my hand, and the other one is cool.

The fan keeps going spin, then stop, then spin, then stop.

I think the card is dead  :(

I think I mixed both up. Yours had no label, and was a smaller box.
And it worked perfectly, and is running cool at 81 degrees.

Sorry for the mistake.

+1 to the card works perfectly.

I'll have to contact the other 5970 owner.

Andrew, do you still have any 5970s available for sale? I actually just made a thread in mining hardware section about wanting at least one 5970. I'm definitely interested in buying if you still have some!
