Title: [Feeler] Antminer S7 Group Buy
Post by: Keegan_Betarigs on January 03, 2016, 01:18:16 AM
Hi guys, I'm Keegan. I used to work at betarigs but that's gone under. I now work at a datacenter in Iowa www.colohub.com I wanted to get a feeler post and see how many people would be interested in doing a group buy. Here's what I was thinking.

10s7's=24 BTC plus shipping of course

2880Watt PSU's from user Finksy on here. We can discuss other psu options as well.

I'm thinking of caping the buy at 24 Investors? That way each user only has to pay around 1 BTC

Hosting Fee, I'm thinking $.10kw/hour so at 1300watts a piece That's 13kw, 13×24=312 × 30= 9,360×.1= $936 a month for hosting. The data center will supply very very good cooling, 3 Phase PDU's, Fiber Internet, And Security.

Let me know as I'm just trying to see if enough people would be interested and we can go from there.

Thanks!

Cant do cheaper than .10$? I have that at my home currently, I would b interested in anything below .07 because there are a few reputable members who host at 65$ 1000kwh

I would be interested at $.05-$.06/kWh rate, I pay $.089/kWh at a hosting center.

$65 kw/month is probably ok. We would prefer to start at $.1 for fewer machines and then scale down from there if the buy gets bigger. So for 10 machines probably $.08 for 50+ $.07

I just want to know what's respectable, I understand that some one could host miners At their house especially if they have like 2 or 3 cent power but these will be hosted at top of the line data center. Its probably over kill for most mining situations but hey at least you know the miners will be online 99.99% of the time, have clean and cold air to breathe and will be in a secure building with guards.

your basically talking about "cloud mining" by ordering a few S7s and people chip in for a few hashes. Why not just host S7s outright for a fee? Too many issues could arise if someone wants to sell their shares and who gets the gear once the group wants to sell/upgrade?

yes we were considering that to, hosting like hashplex or toomim bro's something like that. I was reading some of the other posts in here and it sounds like quite a bit of work to do a group buy. I think we will probably Hold off on a group buy and discuss hosting as a more viable option. Who knows maybe in a few weeks we will have a hosting website up :)

Thanks for the input!

Hosting would be the best option. If you can beat/comparable a few of the current prices, I am sure you will have a host of people willing to have gear hosted! good luck!
