Post by: molecular on December 18, 2012, 10:26:06 AM
davout suggested I start this thread for suggestions and feature request regarding bitcoin-central.net.

crossposting from another thread to start off:

  • Order book asks and bids could be on one page, not 2 separate pages. Own orders could be highlighted
  • Favicon could be changed to something that doesn't look like every other bitcoin-related site.
  • The market depth graph could have a text-popup displaying some info.

order creation:

  • sell-orders could be pre-filled with best bid price, buy-orders with best ask price (when sell/buy radiobutton is being selected)
  • the trade fee could be displayed (when amount and price have been entered)
  • "create order" and "trade orders" could be one and the same page

IMHO, don't waste one second adding bells and whistles until there are no further improvements that can be made to Bitcoin Exchange Directive #1:

Do not get between a customer and the customer's money (whether bitcoins or fiat).

So if I request a withdrawal of bitcoins and it won't be delivered in an instant, I want to know why and how long.   Same thing for withdrawing fiat.

If I have a deposit address and I send funds, don't make me guess.  You know exactly how many confirmations it got and how many are needed yet.  Show me, real-time.

We already do that baby.

Interesting suggestions from everyone :
  • Favicon : yup, will be changed, actually there's a whole re-design in the works, it won't be based on bootstrap, it's going to be really good looking
  • Own orders highlighted in order book : not really possible, orders shown are aggregated, ie. a single line can aggregate multiple different orders at the same price
  • Adding market info on trade page : I take!

I want to make the automatic get-a-new-bitcoin-address-for-each-incoming-transaction feature opt-in. It scares the shit out of newbies.

API command that is useful for merchants.

lets say they sell a product or multiple products that total 200Euro..

they can send a API to you: (crap example)

?cmd=merchant&convert=EurotoBTC&amount=200

and your service looks up the current BTC sell price AND ALSO more importantly it adds on all of your fees that the system would charge to get FIAT to their bank account/ prepaid debit card and return a BTC amount that represents how much it would cost in BTC to ensure the merchant receives the full 200 euros, thus to him accepting BTC is free. just like cash is to them.

so his website or retail EPOS system will near instantly display the BTC price that includes everything and uses another API to confirm the coins were sent to their registered bitcoin address to make the transaction complete.

The volume doesn't matter, just highlight the price in which my order would fall.

here an example taken from my traidor trading client (this uses separate column for showing volume of user orders instead of a highlight):

here's another "rendering" of the same idea done in html (screenshot) without accumulated volume which I made as a suggestion for glbse back when it was alive. I don't like the colors myself, but you get the idea? Something like this would easily fit your page width, too.

what's with that 0 entry in order book? some small amount that gets rounded to 0? I tried buying, doesn't seem to work.

edit:

Lowest ask is smaller than highest bid :-)
