Title: Looking to start an opensource team.
Post by: SparkedDev on January 04, 2016, 09:56:19 PM
We will create open source projects for the community.

Things we can possibly be making:
Cms's
Faucet's
Bot's
Plugins
Gambling sites
Addon's
Api's
Images
3d
Video
Design
Templates

and more.

How will we fund this?
We will run 100% on donations.

Why should i join this?
Expanding the crypto-currency market is the only way we can help bitcoin and altcoins grow.

Possible gains:
Trading skills an knowledge.
Close community of people who you know can help you with projects if you can't do something.
Well we can create plugins or addon's kinda like how zend and php are working.
Offering a product free, an make things people need for a sub fee or flat rate fee,
Or just redesigns of the current platforms or projects we create for decent rates.

What we can do for each other:
Also we will be making a community of people who get contacted on certain projects but can't do, and can pass them on to the next guy.
Plus coming up with a base model of development fee so we stop getting handled to take slave wages.

If you interested or have any comments do feel free to leave a comment or send me a message.

Name hasn't been chosen yet since its only my group of devs so far.
Group: https://allcryptotalk.com/index.php?/gc/7-open-source-developers/

If you have any form of work or got a portfolio please do share it.
We are open to anyone but we are going to need to see some samples of work to know you can do certain projects.

Github Group: https://github.com/OpenSourceCore aka OSC
If you wish to join please provide your github user name so you can be added.

If you throw projects up on Github and post them here I'll most definitely help whenever I can.

Yeah they will all be on GitHub.
Also have a server and everything lined up for this

Got to find a name to call our self's tho, like the majestic flying open source savage monster or something.

In the main op i posted a link to the group i made so we can get some ideas flowing.

Its a group of people who will make things free and we will run off donations.
Things the community wants but not willing to make because the high cost or hours needed to be put in.
Hopefully it will bring forth new ideas and sites and services that people can use for crypto currency.

The main op explains most of it but ill update it in more detail for people who aren't familiar with that open source is.

Hello SparkedDev!

I like the idea. I would be interested to participate. I created some API libs written in PHP and Python to connect with some exchanges.

I could provide them and I also could write some more APIs.

Let me know if there is a channel for discussion (e.g. on Slack).

If you still need anyone for front end, UI, or CSS let me know.

There will be more then one slot of anybody.
More people we have the more things we can get done.

I would love to be considered into this. My everyday job involves python + Linux, but I can work with pretty much any language (in my current job I have used PHP, Java and C++). Here is my github repo (https://github.com/98789), nothing impressive, I know, but I think it is not that bad either :-\. I have also coded for some people here, with no complains so far.

I will take a look at your repo in a bit.

I am the opposite, not so great at backend - great with graphics, colors, placement, navigation, etc.  Would be nice to be full stack but not.

Instead of trying to get people to build your ideas for free, why don't you try paying them some of the 25,000 BTC you claim to have (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1100184.0) for investments?

One: There not only my ideas, also its not only about making things.
Two: Its more about a way to stop getting screwed on here for slave wages.
Three: Why would i need to pay for something i can build on my own, instead of it taking months it could take less time with people.
Four: If i was going to pay for something to be made why would i release it for free.

Five: No where did i claim that it was only my btc.-note It says we are -/note-

If my memory serves me right didn't i deny your proposal .

-update- Turns out we had never replied to this said user after i informed him anything over a certain amount would have to be signed do to legal issues.
You sent me a message about investing in your ognasty mining and later telling me never mind no more available shares when we were late to replying back to you.

Trying to find skilled people instead of people who say they can do something, an just leave us hanging or hand over very insecure code.
I have been looking for higher level coders so we can have a review board of members who will say something can be pushed as an update or not.
Since we are dealing in crypto currency community things have to be secure or we lose credit with the community.

If there are planning a serious project with many options, it is necessary to write  all project documentations and plans. Especially when more people working on it

Yep we have made a github, once we get the team going then we can decide on a project.
We will vote on which project to do first or if we get enough people have multiple projects going at once.
In the op i have made us a group on allcryptotalk since it has its own custom sub forum we can write an get all this sorted an can even have polls.

I'm not sure if you guys are aware of CIYAM Open (http://ciyam.org/open/) but you are free to use it for your task management if you like (http://ciyam.org/open/?cmd=view&data=20131001033213505000_P&ident=M100V112&chksum=29ee23ae explains the process).

There would be no charge for the usage of the application (and it is free to join up of course).

Once you have decided upon a name if the OP is interested then PM me and I can create a project for you (after that you manage it yourself and I'll be happy to provide a bit of training and support free of charge as well).

The way you'd best structure it is as a Project that has the name of your "group" and then use a Project Area for each specific application (which then contains Project Tasks).

To give you an idea about how this can be used: http://ciyam.org/open/?cmd=view&data=20121221072815393000&ident=M100V137&chksum=45c95736

Project is currently underdevelopment

Currently building everything out and working on setting a full open source community up.

We will be building us a hub of information that will untilize github and a few other resources to have a one stop and grab site.
For people looking to make new projects or just learn new section of code with out having to pay a crap load of money.

Great, i will probably follow. Have a lot of coding work to do at the moment. When i am done i will join the team to help creating some interesting stuff for the crypto coin community.

Btw, what forums software do you use for the site?

We are still recruiting.

Okay thanks, I would have bet it is FluxBB or MyBB forums software because there is no sign or something in the footer.

Are you still seeking people to work for you? What is your pay plan for the project? If you could put in more detail, it will help a lot of people to reach you.

Not seeking people to work for me, its to work with me.
Also payments will be based on how much the community will donate to us.
There is no base payment structure here, since opensource projects can be a bit shaky when it comes to funding.

I'm fairly busy but interested in giving back to the open source community in my spare time. Mostly skilled in JS/node so something like a universal rates API (or chrome extensions) would be up my alley but I can do frontend too.  Not looking for bounties or paid work but don't want deadlines either.

Maybe look into a slack channel?

Yeah most projects won't have timers unless someone gives us a bounty or we set a time limit.

Oh it has yet to be set up it would be very unprofessional of us to start taking money for projects with out getting stuff sorted out first.
But something will be up soon, we got a few projects in the pipe lines like a faucet plugin for wordpress.

What type of staff member are you currently lacking at the moment or would like more of? I'll see if I or someone I know of can meet the qualifications.

We are going to need community managers.
Project managers.
And trusted testers.
All coders are welcome to join our group.

I would like to join, if possible.

I dabble a little in HTML, Python, PHP and JavaScript. I would like to use this opportunity to expand my knowledge of these languages and more. As you can see by language knowledge set, I'm a web developer.

My current project is BitPrice (http://BitPrice.link). I work on it every couple of days.
