Cool! Is there any advantage to buy it from you over buying it directly? (And saving money)?

Only if you are from Europe.

I waited 3 Weeks to get mine from the US. If I had bought it there it would have been a matter of 2-3 days.

Cool! Is there any advantage to buy it from you over buying it directly? (And saving money)?

For a single coin, casascius.com charges BTC 1.50 and prohibitively high shipping cost to anywhere outside of the US.

Offers like this one fill that niche.

For example:

1 coin shipped to germany from casascius official page will cost you BTC 1.9 (incl. shipping) and take about 10-15 days.
1 coin shipped to germany from me will (using currently highest bid) cost you BTC 1.418 (incl. shipping) and take about 2-4 days.

So it can make sense depending on circumstances.

I'm mainly doing it for fun and to spread the beautiful coins and of course bitcoin itself.

Ah, I see. I don't see the point of people buying single Casacius coins through but sounds like a cool christmas present :)

1 coin is better than 0 coins. Not everyone has much money left over.

I'm also thinking about selling batches of 2, 3, 5. I'm not sure I'll be able to package 2 for the shipping price of 1 (< 20 grams) securely (still has to go through mail sorter/scanner whatever), so if that doesn't work, the next sweet spot is probably around 4 or 5 coins (< 50 grams with good enough packaging).

one of the two coins got bought. The other auction is running out tomorrow.

So I put up another one, this time only 3 days auction time starting at BTC 1.25: https://www.bitmit.net/en/item/12519-3-1-casascius-physical-bitcoin-series-2-1-btc-loaded-value

I'm offering a set of 3 1 BTC Casascius coins so people can save on shipping.

https://i.imgur.com/Wai1ql.png (https://www.bitmit.net/en/item/12839-3-x-1-casascius-physical-bitcoin-series-2-1-btc-loaded-value)

https://www.bitmit.net/en/item/12839-3-x-1-casascius-physical-bitcoin-series-2-1-btc-loaded-value

At current bid price (BTC 3.84) you can get the coins for (3.84+0.353)/3 = 1.398 BTC each incl. shipping.

I'm wanting to buy a few coins so I can offer them on diceoncrack.com and taabl.net

Will you offer any discount for quantities larger than 4? Say I want 10, 25 or even 50 if the price is right, what would those quantities cost me, including shipping to Europe?

You may as well order directly from Casascius if you're going to buy at least 10.  Casascius charges a lot more per coin for orders less than 10, so molecular uses that as an opportunity to be a middle man and offer people cheaper coins who want less than 10 by buying batches of coins and reselling them individually.  But if you're buying 10 or more, then molecular wouldn't be able to offer them at a better price than Casascius anyway.

I don't think that makes sense. Mike sells 10+ coins for 1.15 each plus pretty affordable shipping. I cannot beat that.

Just hypothetically: I would give a discount for 10 or more and sell them to you for 1.30. Shipping would cost €5.50 plus €1.5 for each €100 worth of insurance.

EDIT: also: shipping wont be faster, at least not by much. I have a shipment to Italy which I sent on 12/30. It still hasn't arrived. Mikes shipment to me (which he sent I think on 12/29) already arrived here.

Fair enough, I just thought I might ask.

Also, I sent something I sold on ebay to Italy and the UK. It tool 3 days to arrive in the UK and 2 weeks for Italy, so I'm guessing something is happening there specifically?

Only if you are from Europe.

That's not true. Europe shipping cost is the same as for World and that can still make sense (especially since I was able to lower the price). For example 4 coins to canada (tracked letter) will net you BTC 1.4625 per coin incl. shipping.

btcrow uses as feedback (refers to) a site that seems to expired.
it shows a generic blah blah you can get this domain if you buy a 10$/m hosting plan.
do you know, by chance, other escrow providers? (I'm looking for recommendations as I'm about to sell some stuff for bitcoins - read bfl single)

& my order is 4 coins, shipped germany einwurf einschreiben, will pay upfront 100%
please pm me address for payment

Does anyone know a trustworthy escrow service?

And when you say 'payment received' that should be proof enough that I settled my end of the agreement.
I'd rather use/leave OTC WOT feedback

I should probably register there and collect some ratings while I sell the coins. Still haven't gotten around to doing that.

after you register a nick & key
you'll need feedback from someone in wot before you'll be able to leave rating yourself
kind of protection from spam/abuse. you can count on feedback from me to get you started

damnit, this sux bigtime. I found that I had already registered "molecular" in otc system back in 2011. I found the gpg key, but cannot for the love of my life remember the passphrase.

I take it there is no way to deregister "molecular" without having the key.

I registered "molec" with a new gpg key and passphrase I will not forget. Maybe I'll remember the passphrase at some point, but I doubt it. I remember it was something I never use anywhere else, so it's unlikely. Maybe I'll have a dream ;)

Maybe nanotube will delete molecular for you, if you still have access to the email address in that GPG key, and at least one of your raters vouches for you.

nope, sorry.

We (jalaman & I) are probably going to sell some 2013 1 BTC coins we gained from a deal with DeadTerra.

If that's might be an option for you, you can place a watch on the thread linked in my signature.
