Title: What's your investment portfolio ?
Post by: outofmind on January 09, 2016, 01:37:48 PM
I'm a self taught investor, currently I'm having 64.47% of money invested in Bitcoins(Buy & Hold), and about 35.53% are (Stocks, ETFs)
I'm currently 20yo doesn't need to generate income(yet) to support family, but I'm using investing as an approach to fund my further studies.

Since I'm young, and no finance pressure, my portfolio are more aggressive than conservative, I'm wanting a 20% growth per year.

Right now the halving is coming, as a bitcoin investor, I believed that the value of bitcoins will surely goes up and shine in this year or next year.

Should I move another 15% from my (stocks, etfs) into btc ? Considering they might not perform well in this year..

its your choice.
id say throwing all your eggs into one basket is bad (eg 100% bitcoin holding) but if your thinking of 15% of your 35% (=5.33%) then thats an acceptable amount to move temporarily out of stocks and into bitcoin for a year. and then move back into stocks after the blockhalving

Nice to see young guys thinking ahead and learning how to invest. Many stocks are plummeting right now so if you do your research you should find some bargains. Other than that I think for people like us, Bitcoin is the best investments one can made right now. Considering that you don't mind the risk associated then I think it's a good idea.

Well, I would tell you not to do it if you were a family man with a lot of responsibilities, but since you are only 20 and have no expenses you can afford doing some crazy stuff. If I was you I would totally go 100% on Bitcoin because I like the asset and it's the most exciting thing for the future. Of course, your money your choice.

I strongly believe that too, i mean that price will raise a lot in this year with the upcoming halving, so move some more $% will be an smart movement.

Just don't move everything to cover "the risk" if something happen ;)

15% gold
15% stock
30% silver
20% real estate
10% fiat
8% altcoin
2% bitcoin

Yes I still have bitcoin in my portfolio. All the problems bitcoin have can still be solved, it doesn't look like it's going to be solved or even worked on, but who knows.

@outofmind
I don't think you're a good investor if you think the price will go up because of the halving.... check amazon for Economics 101 for dummies.

the price is already up because of the halving, a 100% nice stable increase compared to the last bear trend with its 230 price for 10 months straight

so yes it's true that the price double at each halving, don't expect it to double, in the date of the halving though

It is upto you but i suggest to choose bitcoin this time rather than other stocks. I don't usually do trades in other assets but bitcoin growth seems to be storngest among others currently, rise of price is quite predictable regarding halving. You may get around 30% profit by june than is more than 60% annual return. I think you should add some bitcoin to your protfolio.

At the moment only Bitcoin. I used to have stocks, but I have sold them due to the low potential growth. I had about $2000 worth of stocks and that money is invested in Bitcoin.

8% altcoin
2% bitcoin

This is pretty idiotic seeing as how any altcoin that doesn't plan to implement either deterministic block production or lightning network is basically dead in the water scaling wise.  Lightning network with 1MB block size is estimated to be able to handle 50 million users with infinite transactions.  Assuming the new world order plan to reduce human population to pre-industrial revolution levels of 500mil goes through, you'd still need 8MB block size + Lightning Network to serve as world reserve currency in that case.

Scaling wise, the only altcoins really attempting to push anything forward in that category are NXT, Bitshares, Ethereum.  NXT's transparent forging is currently vaporware and unknown if it would ever see the light of day.  Bitshares deterministic block production works, but is cursed by the bad business decisions of Dan Larimer.  Ethereum network partitioning/deterministic block production is also vaporware.  Ethereum might be able to pull off the scaling, but they have a behemoth and maybe insecure software stack to place on top of it that might implode it.

So, in this case, even if Bitcoin doesn't go above 1MB blocks, there's really nothing coming down the line to challenge it's network effects.  Better luck next time motherkwuker.

Jesus Christ, that's a geriatric portfolio.  I hope you're living in a retirement home.

OP, you are a smart young man for planning your financial future, and it sounds like you're not going to be stupid with your money.  My advice would be for you not to blow it on shit that typical 20 year olds do--partying and so forth.  But if you do I still wouldn't blame you.

I've always been a stock market guy, and I'd tell you to put your money there but now's probably a good time to be holding cash.  I think we're in for a correction or crash sometime soon.  Be careful with bitcoin.  It's totally new and its future is very uncertain.  And good luck to you.

Moving some money out of stocks into Bitcoin, and waiting until the stocks hit the despair phase to buy back could give a good return. Buy them back when they are low because everyone else has given up on them, wait then sell them when they are high and everyone else is waiting to buy them. Bitcoin's been more stable than stocks lately.

If I were you, I wouldn't do that at all , in which your going to leave 20% at stocks and nothing else in the bank at least. What's wrong by your choice is that your investing everything in something that could go either way so its a risky one and you don't seem to have a back door or rather safety plan in case it goes all south for you so if I were you, I keep the percentage you have for Bitcoin and completely ditch the other 35% of stocks and some other stuff and investing it in the banks for safety growth of it in the future and depending on what country you are, they might be different % growth of money left in the banks.

You troll on Bitcoin a lot. I hate to see what you write in the silver forums if you hold 30% of this.

If they might not perform well this year and if you know what can happen or which is waited with halving I think that have no meaning to ask here what to do. At least me at your place would have not doubts about what to do. Having in mind that you consider yourself an "aggressive investor" - mean risky investor - cannot be more risky than invest in bitcoin. No one can predict its movements, it is yet immature as currency and are not or will be not data which can give based forecasts about its movements.

But you is not me and want thoughts from the others. In essence this is a good thing. Cannot be lose nothing if hear the others. Maybe even can be found interesting things. Anyhow my thought is yes. You must move 15% (and maybe even more) of your investments in bitcoin. But if you will do so, you will lose the possibility to act with your money. Bitcoin is a risky investment but even a long-term investment. If you will move 15% of your investments to bitcoin the only sure moment in which you (probably) have chance to "play" with it and to not lose, is after the halving. After this time (period) you (according to me) will not be able to "play" more with it. There is no any kind of logic in its movements. Or better for sure that exist a logic. But is known only by it (bitcoin). If you will be able to be close friend of it and it can told you everything then you may become very rich person. ;)
